This same thing is happening to me. Whenever I control/click it automatically opens the new tab. And it just started last night. I haven't updated my Chrome as far as I know, and it didn't even occur to me that it could be the site.
Control/click is working for me off Subeta though. So it HAS to be a change/bug on the Subeta side. And it looks like it might even be just limited to shop search. And I HATE it.

I have not updated my Chrome either.. So it must be something on Subeta's side.
It's kind of annoying at times, but it's do-able. Just wanted to post here and find out if there was a fix or to find out if this is on purpose. :O

Sorry, but to all those saying it's not a Subeta issue, it is.
I use Opera, have not had any updates, also have not just switched to Opera from a different browser, either. I used to see a page with multiple things I wanted to SS, and would just Ctrl+C/V names into my SS widget then Ctrl+Click, and continue on until all tabs were opened to view them. Now it switches to the new tab every single time, and makes my mass searches far slower. Definitely not a welcome change. =/
Art by ~ Sig by ~I'm going to leave this note for anyone who is getting confused because I sure as hell was but apparently ctrl + click is not exactly the same thing as middle wheel/button clicking - at least not on Subeta's end. I went through and tested all the links with the middle wheel, which is what I typically use, and couldn't open any of them. I got a picture of a wheel onscreen, which means that the cursor didn't even recognize that spot as a link. Then I tested them with ctrl + click and they all opened in new tabs - active tabs, the browser jumped to the new tabs. I'm almost 100% positive they all opened as active tabs; however that was frankly pretty hard work to go along with my wine so I forgot to make sure all of them opened as active vs. background.
I always thought ctrl + click and middle click were the same function because they do the same thing, open the link as a new background tab? But they must not be the same function if one can't recognize certain links as even being links at all. Let alone active vs. background tab.
So just putting that out there for people who read through this like me wondering what everyone was talking about and why everyone's browser and Subeta seemed to work differently from each other XD
I noticed this happening also! It's only for things with buttons rather than links (so BUY on shop search, TRAIN YOUR PET/DONE when training pets, etc)
I use Chrome. I didn't update it, so maybe it did automatically because it's telling me it's up to date on my preferences. (Though I did a Google search and my version is not the most recent release, so I'm thinking it's not Chrome?)
Idk it's super inconvenient when trying to buy items to frag, and like.. guys, I only have today to finish that nonsense, so if this is your fault, I'm not pleased >.>
Pssst, click + esc for fragging
That's what I've been doing but I gave up yesterday :P And you may need to click Search again instead of just refreshing or it acts up
I actually didn't update Chrome and I'm getting the same issue. But well, we never know if we updated Chrome. It updates by its own.
I searched on the internet and got another forum where people are discussing it. Unfortunately, I'll not post the link since it's a website with the word "hacker" on its address. But search for "Version 41.0.2272.89 m Ctrl" and you may see that thread. So, after all, IT IS BROWSER RELATED
[edit] Just looking into the code:
Code for "user shop search" on quests page (Ctrl+Click opens on background):
Code for "Start Quest" (opens on active tab):
What means the "a href" (link) code works fine, but the input code doesn't. I also checked "Buy" button on the Shop Search page, and it's the same issue: input code. I'm not a coder, but I guess it is needed, so they can add a hash code (unique code to that link, so that action is different everytime you refresh the page, and you may have a time limit or a number of clicks limit).
I'm not sure if this has been solved, but I restarted my computer and it automatically updated Chrome. Since then, I have also been having this issue. and it only happens on Subeta in certain areas. Every other site I've tried it on doesn't make the new tab my open tab. Not going to lie, it's pretty inconvenient but if I have to switch browsers to have these ability back I will.

I am using Google Chrome Version 41.0.2272.89 m on a Windows 7 computer and have also noticed that trying to buy something from the shop search screen with a control-click switches to the new tab. Personally, I would like to see that changed back to stay on the shop search screen, as I find it to be a nuisance. Control-click works correctly both outside of Subeta and in other places on Subeta, such as the shop search link under the items on a quest page.
- whether or not the middle button is the same as control-click can depend on both your browser and your mouse settings. For Chrome users, the default is that they are the same. Hope that helps make things a bit clearer.
yeah I knew that, and I have mine set as the same - at least that's what I thought, because they always have had the same function for me. But like I said, I tested them all, and the links in question here didn't even recognize as links with middle click, but did with ctrl + click. And other users were saying the same thing. So I can only assume there is some difference?
- just guessing, but it's always possible the code can check for specific key clicks and treat them differently, overriding the browser and mouse settings.
Having the same issue. I'm certain it's a Subeta side thing, because while I id update my browser recently, things didn't start until something in the Subeta fonts/outlines changed.
Honestly? It's making me not want to frag/recycle. That can't be the idea behind it, so I'd love to hear what was the idea. Though it's possibly it's just a side effect of something. I want to know what that something is, cause I doubt it's worth it...
I don't use chrome, but I might have a fix for the people who are using chrome. In firefox, when I ctrl + click, it opens the link in a new tab and makes that tab active. When I ctrl + shift + click, it opens the link in a new tab but does not make it active and you stay on the page where you clicked the link. Since people with chrome are still able to ctrl + click the links in question to open them, maybe try ctrl + shift + click to stay on the same page? I have no clue if it works, but it's worth a try?
Be aware though, on my pc ctrl + shift is also the combination that switches my keyboard settings, so sometimes when I try to type the punctuation is all nonsense because I used ctrl + shift to open some tabs :P
Unfortunately that doesn't seem to work for me(with chrome or with firefox), but thanks for trying.
I love chrome, but at this point I would switch to another browser in a heartbeat if I meant that I could buy from the user shops again.
At the moment I'm using shift + click to open a whole new window with each buy, because it's quicker to close windows then tabs. It's hard on the eyes though.

This is seriously driving me bananas,I can't frag anymore :/
I'm having the same problem. I don't care about it in user shops, since I never mass buy anything anyway, but... I'm training all 15 of my pets. It's wasn't fun to begin with, but now that I have to go to every tab, multiple times a day, it's a downright chore.
I don't know if it's browser based, a bug or intentional, but I'd really appreciate it if something were done about this. I'm assuming it's a quite simple fix if it's Subeta-side, considering you can easily code how a link is meant to open.
I decided I wasn't putting up with this shit anymore and I found a work-around for the meantime for anyone interested:
It does try to open it in the foreground, will flash quickly, and then go back to your original tab. It hurts the eyes a bit, so if you're sensitive to that kind of thing, I would suggest not adding it to your browser (or getting some nice custom CSS so that every background on this site isn't a blaring white)
@ flamboyantCuttlefish I think you all mentioned using Chrome, so hopefully this helps you :3
