I guess I dont worry, because I have been here so many time over the years. i know, where to go and where not to go. Any protesting I avoid, like Tahirir Square where they protest so much and you see it on the news. Unfortunately, the museum that has King Tut's artifacts are right on the edge of that square. I have been traveling overseas since I was about 20 years old and I was in the military. My family and I have traveled a lot over the years both in the states and overseas. New Years in Paris an absolute must on the Champ Elysees. I really want to celebrate in New York, and watch the ball drop.

I am so jealous lol. I actually never wanted to travel when I was younger. I never thought of leaving to see what is out there. It has been recent events that have made me want to spend a lot of time traveling. I think that is fantastic.

I m originally from Montana, and didnt want to live my whole life there without seeing. What was going on outside of Montana? Kids I graduate with way back then, have never seen the outside of Montana. I enjoy meeting people from all over the world. Since I came to Egypt, I met one couple from New York and 3 girlfriends from Florida. I told them the highlights of things to see and do here. Get passport and go! Any flying overseas start looking for good deals on plane tickets about 3-4 months before you go. Cheaper tickets would not be on any major holiday or summer break for kids around the world. Start a bucket list of things you want to see and do, I still have Hawaii on mine. I did one bucket list item in December here, in Egypt. I got to hold and pet a baby lion, so cool. I got pics of it, too. I of course, gave the poor thing a check up of sorts. I was very curious of his fur texture. His main body and tail were like short dog hair and a bit coarse. But the paws, tip of tail, and around the face and head were so soft. I want to just keep holding him all day.

So you are living in Egypt now? I had some sad things happen within the last 3 months that have opened up the way I look at life. Since then I have started a bucket list of sorts to do all the things I only dreamed of and never thought would be possible. I am from the West Coast of the States and I have never been past Texas. All around up and through but never past Texas. So I differently want to travel. Egypt is a place I have always wanted to go as I have been fascinated by ancient Egypt since Elementary school. Thank you for the tips on travel and that is so neat you have gotten to be with a baby lion. I am lucky enough to have worked with a lot of exotic animals as I worked as a pet nurse through high school and university. Never a lion though, a tiger a few times though.

Fortunately you know the places to avoid and would not be the total tourist that I would be, LOL! At least I did manage to see the King Tut exhibit when it came to our Museum of Fine Art. Seems you have found your calling!

Iam currently visiting my hubby's family in Egypt. But when in the states, I live in El Paso, texas. OOHHHH tiger is on my bucket list. Sometimes good things come out of sad events or the sad events encourage us to enjoy life. Out of a family of 5, I have only two remaining family members left. Both my parents and sister passed on. I treasure my 2 remaining sisters more than ever.

I like you have been fascinated with Egypt since elementary, it was my dream to come here.

Shoot I still have a tourist attitude and want to see everything here. Luck I have a tour guide and translator with my hubby and his family. I still drive by the pyramids and sphinx and stare like an awed tourist. LOL Who wouldnt be its amazing. I got to see the chamber King's Tut scarcophugas (spelling, ugh) was actually found and it was smaller than an average bedroom. I do recommend that before someone goes to see King Tut anywhere in the world even here, make sure its not the replica. I saw both, and from across the room I could tell the replica was a copy, workmanship just not the same as original. If I get bored I could become a tour guide here, LOL. As long as I could do it in the winter, the summers here are hotter then the hinges of hades/heck. Better to visit here between november and february.

As great as my love and respect for ancient Egypt I will never venture there. For one thing I can not take heat especially with humidity. Mix that with living on a fixed income and uncertainty with all the political unrest and I'm staying put in New England much as there are cooler climes I'd also love to see. Getting pretty good at arm chair travel, LOL!

Nothing wrong with armchair travel, especially if you have trouble getting around anyway.

Heat and humidity are not my friends either. Give me some rain and cold weather more often I would be happier. I get heat from visiting Egypt and living in El paso texas. When I was in Sharma el sheikh it got up to 51C, I felt like someone was using a hair dryer on me, and forgot to shut it off. Hey nothing wrong with arm chair travel - no heat, no time change to recover from and the list goes on. England is on my bucket list of places to go, especially since I am half English from ancestors on both sides of the family that traveled here (US) decades ago.

The only problem I have with mobility is financial - nice thing about where I live is that I have choice of walking or public transport so I try to mix it up.

I wish I was that mobile. These days when I go anywhere it's just for short trips, and if I can avoid getting out of the car it's easier.
