My other 1/2 drives every other week to work in a certain CA city. He uses the same direct route and it takes him about 5 hours. Well, a huge problem arose with all your rain, dear! The bridge taking him there washed out! Huge problem for people who have to drive that so much as it is the only direct link between my town and where he goes!!! Detours are never fun..

Anyone else think it is weird that there was no news this morning???

So my surgery is tomorrow, thanks for all the well wishes! I'm anxiously waiting for the call from the hospital to tell us what time it's at and when i should start fasting. I'll try to update as soon as I am well enough.

: Yes! Weird Weird weather for Central California, but especially for Southern California...We have a hurricane to thank for that. said that the last time she remembers this much rain and lightning in the summer was the year she and her parents moved into their house when she was a very little girl. The streets flooded, all the neighbors raised their garage doors, set up lawn chairs, passed out the beer and watched the lightning as if it were the 4th of July. ( it very well might have been, ) back in 1986 long before anybody heard of global warming.

I had heard that several bridges were taken out, one of them on Highway 10 out of Los Angeles going to Phoenix. The detours add like another hour and a half to the route.

He drives to work for 5 hours? Wow...that is some commute. Every other week? Well, there is a small blessing I guess. At least it's not every day. I have another friend in Central California who drives from Los Banos to San Francisco every day, it's a 2.5 hour drive each way when the traffic is good. I'm lucky, I live within walking distance to my work. I cannot imagine driving that much. I've flown down in the Mojave and Death Vallley....but that is a very very long story indeed.

Miss Dannygyrrl and her little weasel Olivia came up to Glen Meadow and picked me up to go fishing with them in the San Joaquin River Gorge today. It was hot, the hike was exhausting and the fishing was lousy. But the scenery was so worth it.

The most interesting thing was that while we were there, Southern California Edison decided it was time to generate some electricity, so they opened up the floodgates upstream from our location and the river started rising rapidly, like three feet in the matter of 10 minutes! We scrabbles over the big rocks to get back up the trail and hike out of there. Talk about an adventure. ( I have pictures.) And there was the threat of thunderstorms too!

You notice a Blueberry Candy Rocks on the ground, but right when you bend down to pick it up, lizard minions come out of nowhere and scurry off with it!

Your trap springs and you spray like mad as the lizard minions escape. They will not get away this time! You place into your inventory.

You are very lucky lately dear. :)

: Thanks. All those rocks in the gorge are scalloped like that as smaller rocks tumble against the larger boulders and carve depressions in them. In one depression that we saw it was nearly perfectly round and a five foot deep cylinder. When the gorge is full, it is a category 3-5 white water river. Those rocks were that photo was taken were thirty feet below the high water mark, that's how low the river was today. ( well it did come up three feet while we were standing there...hee hee ) I wish I had taken more pictures, the scenery really is wonderful. Lots of birds, butterflies too. We were very fortunate not to encounter any rattlesnakes as they are very active in this area this time of year.

Sounds like my area too.We have rattlers here too,just near the river and on the west side of our bridge that is 8 miles away from our town....thirty feet wow that is low....our river is pretty low too.We can see all the sandbars now.

: I'm just hoping that the coming El Nino bring some more rain to our area in the next year. The difficult decision that our State is trying to make is whether to inundate this area behind a huge hydroelectric dam. As it is, the San Joaquin river is one of the most complex hydroelectric projects in the world with 27 dams and 24 power plants. That generate over half of what the Hoover Dam generates. I would hate to see this area destroyed.

But the other side of the problem is the drought and the lack of adequate water for our population and our farms. The new dam would double the water storage of the river and it would flow enough water to the ocean to bring back the pacific salmon to the area. Tough decisions.

I hate snakes. The thing I hate worse then snakes is owls. If an owl ate a snake and the snake ate the owl at the same time, that would be like a little slice of heaven cake for me.

Goodnight all humans and other creatures of the Subeta world...The Little One fell asleep at her tablet and I had to carry her off to bed. She had a busy day and is exhausted.
