- We went through the biting at my daughter's school when she was between 1 and 2. There was another students who was a habitual biter and was biting a bunch of the kids in the class. I almost took my daughter out of the school at that point too. I did talk with the owner of the daycare face-to-face about it, which really helped a lot. They hired a person to shadow the offending child and help him with the situations where he wanted to bite another child. That helped a lot. The owner also told me that 9 times out of 10, the child is biting because they don't have the vocabulary to tell someone else what is wrong or that they're upset, and that's their way of showing it. It doesn't make it right, under any circumstance, but it at least gives an explanation. I wish you goo luck. I know it can be difficult. hugs

Congrats on the achievement! How awesome. Yes, I am having a hard time dealing with this, as it has been going on for months. I tried to talk to the owner this morning, but she really is not there enough to see what goes on everyday. I told her the situation has been ongoing and asked if there was something that could be done because I am very frustrated with my child being bitten every couple of weeks. And the thing is that the incident is not being monitored, because I am always the one finding the bite marks and bringing it to their attention. When I find bite marks, and nobody has told me about it, it makes me feel like my child is not being properly supervised. So I asked her what she was going to do about it, and she gave me the stupidest answer ever... kids will be kids... WHAT?!!! This is an ongoing problem, so I told her I would be pulling him out and finding another daycare soon, which I have found one, but I can't move him until the end of the month. Well, when I told her I was going to pull him out, instead of trying to resolve the problem, she got an attitude and told me to do what I needed to do. After that I was fuming. I hugged my baby and brought him to the classroom. How the heck can someone like that look herself in the mirror everyday. She is responsible for other people's children, and she just so carelessly brushed off my concern. It kills me that he has to go there for 2 more weeks, but I am moving him to another daycare, and I am going to find out who I need to talk to in order to report her to the state. This just is not right.

I say, turn them in to child protective services. You shouldnt have had to bring that to their attention. Her attitude sucks. Biting from other kids screams of poor supervision.

I agree. Like I said, this is not the first time. It has been happening for months, and I haven't had the option to move him. But now I do, and I am. They are also a Class A center in our state, which means they get state funding. The bites from yesterday were on both his arms, so he got bit at least twice, it looked like it might have been three bites. How do you NOT see a kid get bit three times?? They said he never cries. I know he is tough, but this is ridiculous. I am sure their attitude wouldn't be so passe' if it were their child.

I think she is a terrible director/owner. Honestly, the only thing she cares about is the money. She could care less about the kids. She is very cold and heartless when it comes to the kids, and she is definitely in the wrong business.
