That's why I adore Agent Carter. They didn't have to resurrect her for it. They just brought her out of the closet and let her shine...and it's amazing!!!! :D
Exactly - Agent Carter is amazing! :) She's just brillant, isn't she? So proud of Hayley Atwell - such an ass-kicking English rose haha.
I just got around to watching episode 4 and I was doing okay until--

OMFG! DOTTIE IS BLACK WIDOW HJGDJKHDHGVABNVDMBJGBN FF I JUST DIED AGHF.
Well, she's a product of the Black Widow program. I giggled when I saw that scene. Though I doubt that is specifically Natasha Romanoff, I'm sure she is running around somewhere at the time. I forgot that the Black Widow is, if you follow a certain storyline, much older than she looks. Looking back, it's amusing that she called Steve Rogers a fossil in one of the movies, but I think she was jealous that she didn't get to take a nap. :)

i do believe she may well be Yelena Belova not Natasha Romanoff.
And how amusing, Yelena's first appearance was in an Inhumans comic, the exact storyline Marvel is building up with Agents of Shield. Hmm...
As a side note: I will be sad if Dottie never gets her pickle-pockets. :C

I just read an article that Dottie is supposed to be from the Black Widow program and she's...I think she's supposed to be actually after Peggy because the writers wanted to create a direct foil to Peggy, instead of having all the bad guys be men.
I am so excited. What a scene with Dottie! Excited to see more of Yelena this week. :)
Happy that Agent Carter is kicking ass so much, but I'm not happy with the ratings. I wished that they were better.
My friends and I are obsessed! I hope they bring Agent Carter back for more because I love Hayley Atwell and she's showing that women can kick as much butt as their male counterparts.
Working on filled wardrobe achievement. Almost at 12k!
I loved everything about the Iron Ceiling episode. Seriously. I loved everything.
However, I noticed something.
The little Black Widows of tomorrow were watching a subliminal Disney movie.

Later on, Agent Carter and the Howling Commandos come upon another clip with subliminal messages.

"INSTILL FEAR." Is there something that we, the watchers, are being told?
Agent Carter is property of Marvel. Marvel is owned by Disney. Disney cartoons in Agent Carter are shown to have subliminal messages, such as the one above to “INSTILL FEAR.â€
DISNEY WANTS US TO FEAR THEM.
First Ray Gilette's grand daddy and now this.
Seriously, though, this episode rocked.
I still love you, Dottie, even if you are a psycho spy that wants pickle pockets.
Speaking of which, I have to note an interesting detail about the string Peggy placed on her lock to detect intruders. A cool trick, but Peggy could have done something even more sneaky than the string.
I'll make a brief a comparison to a movie called "The Sting", where the same trick was used, only a character had placed a thin hair lower down along the door so it wouldn't be detected if it dropped when someone opened it. Because he did this, he was able to immediately run away from his apartment as the intruder didn't have a chance to ambush him. Even in all her badassery, Dottie wouldn't have detected a falling hair at calf level, but Peggy used a thicker item almost at eye level, so of course Dottie noticed it when it fell.
/stupid rant no one cares about

ABC has exclusive forums that allows certain fans to give comments to their show, and the Agent Carter showrunners will read them. Sounds like you will be perfect for it. Will you be up for it? I can send you the instructions - one of my friends is there and loves it. I will be joining too!
Actually, if anyone wants to, let me know and I will try my best to get invites.
That sounds like fun, so why not? I'll join in. :)

I think she did more than just place the string. There's no way Peggy Carter would rely on something so easy to manipulate. I think she had a hunch about Dottie but didn't want to make it totally obvious. We are talking about someone who knows how to decode Russian ciphers.
I loved that episode though. There's still hope for Cartinelli I think but I'm not really sure. I loved that the first kiss on the entire show was between two women.
My friends and I were discussing it at work and we all agreed that the finale is going to be a tearjerker. Hopefully it gets picked up for more seasons so we can see young Nick Fury making his way through the ranks of a new agency.
Working on filled wardrobe achievement. Almost at 12k!
Wow! What an episode A Sin to Err was. I don't know how Peggy is going to get out of this. That ending was insane.
Darn that old, manipulative psychiatrist, probably being a hypnotist/latent telepath those Russians are so fond of harvesting. That stuff is real, too, which makes his manipulation plausible. I've seen a few shows where a magician has lulled a person into compliance by making them "comfortable", so they are more susceptible to "suggestions". There's a whole scientific brain wave thingy that goes on that I am far too lazy to read into detail, but I've seen it happen.
Y'know, with her killing dentists and being all covert 'n' stuff, I'm really starting to think Dottie won't get her pickle pockets by the finale. :(
And speaking of Dottie: NO! NO! I will not do it! I will not ship her and Peggy. That scene was the classic Poison Ivy/latent spy drug kiss tactic. I know it was a low-down, dirty trick that is true to her character as a Black Widow and I swear Iwon'tshipit I won'tshipit I won'tshipit--

... Damn it.

Ok, so I've been staying away because honestly, it takes me about two days after the ep airs to have time to watch it. Firstly, Dottie is super kickass but also scary as hell. I don't ship her and Peg just because I'm too hung up on Angie and Peggy (or maybe my favorite ship is Thompson and his ego) (I'm debating. ;) )
Also, while the manipulation he does is real, his techniques are sideshow "magician" tricks. That kind of mental overpowering is usually done and is more effective through touch. It almost never works through eye contact and focus because most people blink too often and can't stay focused that long enough without losing clarity of vision.
- Good catch on the hypnotism technique. You are definitely correct. Every single hypnotist I have witnessed that has had success with being very "persuasive" to their volunteers had to touch them. Of course, it all depends on the person this technique is being used on, too. Usually, a group is chosen instead of one individual because more often than not, the fact is that no matter how good the hypnotist/magician, there are some people who just can't be manipulated through that technique, even despite that a lot of these people want to believe in the technique, their brain just doesn't work in that manner. Luckily, there are also always some that are susceptible, so the audience always got a show. ;)
Getting back to the point, in barring the touch technique, I agree that it would make the ring trick even more implausible. However, this is still the Marvel universe we are talking about. Mr. Psychiatrist could be a latent telepath. The USSR did have a program for psychics way back when, too, so there's also that reference.
I have chosen my ship and I feel so guilty. Yet, I sail, because it has the flag with Dottie on it and I am and always have been a sucker for bad girls. My husband always rolls his eyes when I fawn over her.
"Dear, she killed other children when she was a child. She killed a man when he wanted to see his wife and kids. She is a cold blooded murderer and unfeeling of anything else but achieving the objective."
"BUT DOTTIE IS SO COOL."
"sigh"

I won't ship Peggy and Dottie. Cartinelli is where it's at.
That being said Dottie is a badass.
Working on filled wardrobe achievement. Almost at 12k!
- ... Cartinelli is good, too. Angie would undoubtedly be more healthy than anything with Dottie. Oh, but dat volatile dynamic with Dottie!
As a side note, the creators of the show have stated that Angie knows what's up, so I think maybe, perhaps, we will see some butt-kicking from her in the future too? At the very least, she will have a very stern talking to at some characters. I would love to see that.
Oh, wait, Sousa is still kinda sorta in the shipping pool too. He's adorable as well, in his own way. I felt so bad for him when he found out about her, although it is out of context for him.
AGH. TOO MANY SHIPS AND NOT ENOUGH PEGGY TO GO AROUND.
Wait, what am I saying? Peggy is more than woman enough. She can have all the ships. There.
I don't only care about ships, btw, but they're just so much fun to talk about.

Actually, that's what I was kinda thinking too. That he uses the ring not to help his vics focus but to help himself focus. If he makes them focus on the ring, then he has an easier time focusing on their minds to get in and manipulate them. Because item focalizing can work but it's much more unpredictable. It's easier to work through touch and key words. Longer phrases are also hard to impress on someone being hypnotized but shorter phrases aren't that hard if you do it right (meaning you know what you're doing) So for now at least, I'm going with the idea that he must be psychic (which I can't decide if it would be awesome or awful)(I'm so conflicted)
I am so there on loving Dottie. She's a badass but she's still all girly and cutesy. It's sickening to the core and I love it. :D
However, English and the Diva is just too good for me to jump ship. I mean c'mon! Angie basically snotted all over Thompson for Peg. Angie is my girl and I watch her scenes with little hearts in my eyes because I am a nerd. Not to mention watching Thompson and Sousa be extremely awkwardly uncomfortable with a crying Angie was just my favorite thing. "Can you please....not...do....do that?"
And then they turn to the housekeeper lady: "Can you do somethin' about this?" Jesus, Ang is my favorite Broadway star.
