They didn't always have alerts :) I forgot my alerts at some point or mass deleted and forgot about the game for months, that's why it took ages.

I'm still in the damn course. And it makes me feel miserable. 1 week to go and then the application training class starts where we learn how to survive interviews and write letters.

Will that be with the same group of people and teachers? At least it keeps you occupied? It does seem like a pain though.

I recently changed, but you may want to put something in your forum sig stating that you have two y's, just in case. I've been pinged a few times by mistakes, especially when users have cherry-word in their URLs. It's a pain, but I live with it. :P
