I used to play Neopets. Quit that when TNT switched hands over to whoever is running the site now. Other than that I have a steam account. I don't do a whole lot of online play since I don't have any new gen systems.
Also a former neopets player here, my account got hacked and frozen and they told me that if I couldn't produce proof it was hacked i couldn't get it back. I made another account and then they randomly chain froze my new account and sides so I left for good haha
It's really good ;) You should start watching it ;) ;) ;)
A lot of us here made the jump over where when TNT swapped ownership over. So sad. ):
Maybe I'll try today :o
That's rough, I haven't gone back to see if I even still have an account left to play on. Might see in a bit. I'm curious to see how old it is.
Yeah, that's what I'm finding out. That's actually what my friend Zeox did and then she started me on the site.
Yeah, I'm just glad you think it's cool. P: My mom is always bragging about me but she occasionally comes home with stories of disbelief or even people who say, "What? People get paid to do that?" >.> I mean... You try practicing 10+ hours a day in a Korean gamer house, good luck surviving. LOL.
My sister is a pro musician, which factors into my mom's support of my choice. :P We're a competitive family I guess.
But honestly I think pro gaming is fascinating... It provides the same kind of physical and mental stresses as traditional sports, which is pretty amazing, and the work that goes into it is equally so. The community is international, the prizepools and audiences are huge... I don't mind that we're not mainstream yet, though; we're still a young industry and there are a lot of things to hammer out before we're ready for that much criticism.
The support team is awful, plus the people on Subeta are a lot nicer and helpful! When I left neopets was mostly trolls haha
It's apparently awful now, KQ has been down since the switch to jumpstart, the high score tables havent worked since Jan and so many issues :O Do you still log on?
Well you've been sucked in now.. there's no going back. This place is incredibly addictive. :k
How much does it pay if you don't mind me asking? Can you make a decent living off of it?
What does your sister play?!
That's so sad! And no.. I logged in the other day to see what was up, but was only on for 5 minutes and was like BLEH.
No kidding, I always find my way back no matter how long a break I take, I've also discovered that once you get a taste of the gold account you can't go back.
Wow, didn't realize it was like that. When I was on it there was still the infamous 'ways to get kicked out of walmart' board going on.
Oh wow haha, I played since about 2001-ish when I was 7, so I'm really sad I left, but I'm starting something new here, so I'm really happy
Too true. I could never price my shop ever again.
Yeah, I tried to get three months but then one thing led to another any I'm good for the next like... half a year.
Yeah, that's about how long I played.
The pay is inconsistent; no one does esports for the money, let's just say that. You get paid if you win. If you don't win, you don't get paid.
As an example, the highest-paid esports athlete in the world currently has earnings listed of about 1.1mil. I'm not sure what the timeline is for this--let's assume last year--but I'm pretty sure his team won $1mil per person last year in the Internationals. So what if they hadn't won the Internationals? He would have earned $100k last year. That's still a lot of money, but consider that (seeing that his team won the Internationals) he is one of the best players of this game in the world.
In other words, you have to be the best in the world to make $100k in a year. Some pro players whom are praised as "some of the best in the world" make $60k.
And, of course, many others who have been training for years make much less than that (~$5k/year). It all depends on how well their team is doing.
There are some sources of regular income you can get in esports, such as sponsorships and Twitch streaming, putting ads on a team website, etc.. For most of these solutions you have to be either highly skilled or popular. This makes the industry very dry in the cash department for beginners.
^_^ Hope that answers your question.
Well it's definitely cheapest to buy in bulk xD I think I did the same thing!
Well that's more money than I make ;)
It's sad to see a site I used for so long go so downhill :(
Also general question for anyone.. Does anyone know what the Alchemy points for pets do? I keep getting it come up after I read a book and just not really sure what they're for haha (Sorry for the question, I'm still fairly new to the site haha)
They're used for teaching your pet spells. o.o
:P Lol same. It'll be nice if I ever make money.
Yeah, my friend hopped on and was, Oh my god, did you spend money? Did you buy CSC? She got some for referring me.
The Alchemy points allow you to teach your pet scrolls for the arena.
Oh how do you do that haha, I didn't even know pets could learn spells D:
Yeah! That'd be neat! Do you have another job right now or is that all you do?
Yeah I got some too when a friend bought CSC xD
I think they answered your question xP
Oh man. I'm so sleepy I might take a nap. Dang. I guess that is what days off are for though.
