I can't add more than 5-6 ornaments before my laptop's fan kicks on, and my browser becomes unresponsive after a couple more. There's been a memory leak for years, and it's still a problem.
I posted this last year:
<p>Am I the only one struggling with this? I see other people whose trees are covered in ornaments. There&;s no way I could accomplish that with how bogged down my browser becomes after such a short time. Do those people just have extreme patience or something?</p>
<p>I really want to enjoy this feature, but I just can&;t right now. :(</p>
<p>Technical stuff: Windows 7, same issue with both Firefox (25.0.1) and Chrome (31.0.1650.63 m)</p>
<p>Fun fact: after 10 ornaments, Windows task manager says my available physical memory has dropped by ~70-80 MB.</p>

Ok so I&;m no expert at this and I might be totally off, but...
In tree.pro.js, runLayerSelect applies the necessary event handlers, but it applies them to every layer, and it&;s called for each new layer/ornament, so they just accumulate. So like after adding 10 ornaments, the first layer has 10 different mouseover event handlers that all do the same thing. That&;s why refreshing after adding several ornaments helps to speed things up again... it gets rid of all the duplicate handlers.</p>

I had no problems with my computer in decorating my tree. No lag or anything.

We're looking at switching to an actual graphic library for canvas, but we didn't have the chance to do it before Luminaire started. Hopefully this will get resolved over the next few days :/

It was frustrating for me to reorder but make sure that you click and then wait a minute before you try to move. Once it is movable, then move it down a few at a time. I know it is frustrating but for now that is how I got it to work.

I tried to do the waiting thing several times but it doesnt work for me. It just keeps highlighting the text :c or my cursor turns into a nope sign.

I also have this problem and really would like it to be fixed. I barely use my tree last year because of it. Looking forward to it working in a few days!

I also have a crazy lag. Not as bad as the OP's, but dragging ornaments move slowly, and when trying to move layers it barely works.

I did have some lag last year, but it only kicked in hard (aka, making the brower tab freeze and die) after ~50 ornaments. Back then, I "solved" it by saving my progress every few ornaments. This year the tree felt laggier to me, and I absolutely couldn't move ornaments layers too. Yet, since we were only allowed a maximum of 25, I went with simple decorations, which is certainly why the tree didn't take nearly as long...
Basically the ornaments cap didn't improve the actual tree lag for me so far, but, by limiting what I could do, it made me spend less time and thus I struggled less, haha.

I can't reorder my tree layers either even after trying what said. Running the latest FF. However my browser has no issue with lags like some others on the thread are having.
Same here on both the inability to reorder ornaments (only highlights no matter how long I wait) and the mounting lag as I add ornaments (I can get to 15 before the tree is unusable). Good luck working on it guys, and thank you for listening! :)
I can't move the ornaments around on the tree (Chrome 39.0.2171.95 m) - I added one of the new cat ornaments, left the page open for 5 minutes, came back, and still couldn't drag it anywhere :(

Our current suggestion is to move a few things, save, and refresh the page. It'll reset all of the javascript and let you do the same thing over again. It's not an optimal solution, but we didn't have a chance to finish up moving them to a different system in time :/
