old post @ the_butler I sure will! Lot for you :D Thanks for the support!!

stakaje pinging you guys because I value your input as well!!

(from the CW Raffle Forums - join the CW raffle ping group HERE!)

Heyyoooooo! Sorry for the absence from the CW raffle. I'm working on cleaning it up and making it more appealing for future raffles but I'm at a bit of a stand still. I'm considering doing a bit of reworking as far as ticket costs, prize amounts, and all that goes and i would really really appreciate your input!

What I need input on is: how many tickets should each raffle contain? (currently 30) what should the limit per user be? (currently 5) would you like to see the ticket price dropped to 50 csc per? (currently 100 csc per) what is the minimum prize count you'd like to see in the prize pool?

There are so many different factors in running this raffle that I'm trying to find a happy medium. Price of ticket affects how many raffle tickets are in the raffle, which affects the csc collected for future prize purchases and so on and so on. Above all, I want the participants to be happy with the selection of prizes and enjoying the actual gamble itself. I'm trying to do my best to grab super popular items with limited releases but I haven't been all that successful!

I've got a couple amazing prizes from the beautiful that includes a private release of hers (not yet submitted) so the next prize pool will definitely be appealing, and I am looking into commissioning some CW raffle only prizes (@ dollipop perhaps the big hair we started on a while back after your computer issues get resolved?)

***NEW IDEA, TY Cyroris - What if there were 7 prizes in the pool, but only 5 winners? That way all winners have a better selection to choose from when they win

so yeahhhh, just give me any and all feedback! Love you guys and thank you so much for the support :D

I don't really know how it worked/was run beforehand but I definitely personally never felt inclined to participate because I spend all my CSC on my CWs, so spending 100 per entry felt a little too much for what I was willing to afford. 50 does seem much more reasonable, but I personally might not participate unless the prizes are actually appealing enough since I probably would rather just hold that 50 CSC to buy a CW I do know I want. But I definitely think lowering ticket price to 50 CSC is gonna get more people. Not to say that the CWs offered weren't nice ones, they just weren't personally appealing to me and maybe others.

And I mean I totally understand why you did it the method you did it, since the raffle tickets were supposed to fund the prizes for the following round, etc..

And I also think just the prize pool may not have grabbed many people's attention. I mean you did have a bunch of nice stuff but maybe not enough of a range of items that would appeal to everyone?

I have no idea as to how many people should be allowed to buy tickets and how many total people in the raffle, but maybe it's easier for you to be like "I'm gonna do a drawing on x day (lets say 1-2 months from now or something). and it'll be based on how many people entered, however based on the number of people who entered there may be less prizes, so for 10 or less there will be only 1-2 prizes, 20 people will be 3-4 prizes, 30, 4-5, etc.." And as for number of times one person can enter can probably depend on how many people in total enter? I know it's harder to do that but be like at first you can only enter 1-2 times, with 20 people you can submit another 2 entries if you wish, 30 etc...

I don't know if that really works out in terms of letting people enter, but I mean obviously if someone enters 10 times in a 10 person raffle then it's basically like they bought the CWs for 250 each. Or what you could do is just every few days/weeks however long you plan on running the raffles for you could do the same thing as I mentioned but like rather than letting it up to chance just say, this x amount of time I'm running a 10 entry raffle, in this raffle you're only allowed to buy 1 ticket, so it's a 1/10 chance of you winning one of 1-2 CWs. and then next time do like a 30 entry raffle with a cap of 4-5 entries per person, etc..

Ultimately lowering the price will make it difficult to buy CWs for the raffles, because that's less CSC to work with, but you could always get things that people are planning on pawning for cheap etc..

I mean I'm not very good at organizing some things like this so I don't know if the methods I suggested would work.

@ silvanesti Here are some of my thought, and is only pure example of one way it could be changed

I would really like to drop the ticket price to 50 csc per. I think 50 csc is better on participant's wallets. Doing so, however, would mean more entries per raffle. And if so, does the ticket limit per participant need to be adjusted? If more entries, then how many?

so just rambling some numbers here, these are merely examples and not set in stone

example 1 50 csc per ticket 100 tickets per raffle =5,000 csc to go towards next raffle how many tickets per user? 5 = 250 csc, with 20 users minimum per raffle should everyone buy max tickets. 10 tickets = 500 csc with only 10 users should they buy max tickets Problems: 100 tickets may be difficult to fill??? But maybe easier with it being 50 csc per???

So if I did 50 csc @ 5 tickets per user, what would be a "fair" prize pool?

Let's say prizes cost minimum 700 csc each (going rate of most popular CWs)

5,000 csc earned from a round could warrant 7 possible prizes (iwth 100 remaining to go towards next round). 7 prizes for minimum 20 participants seems... reasonable? (35% win chance if they bought all 5 tickets and only 20 participants wait is that even right idek)

EDIT:

I also felt that perhaps the prize pool was not very appealing so I am looking into other ways of getting better prizes, which includes commissioning CW raffle only prizes and trying to work with others for a copy of their private releases.

I mean at 50 per tickets might sell easier but I have no idea if it'll be easy to fill an 100 user raffle. I guess raising the limit to 10ish tickets per person would seem reasonable since that would mean the raffle might fill faster with the amount of people, but it doesn't really make much of a difference if you did a 100 user raffle with 10 entries per person or a 50 user raffle with 5 entries per person. Assuming the people get the maximum amount of tickets, the chances are the same, do it;s your call since 50 person raffle would definitely be much easier to fill and I think your problem previously was that it was 100 CSC per ticket so you could definitely try an 100 ticket raffle with 50 CSC per ticket and see how it works.

I myself am not very good with predicting outcomes of things, so I think you might have the most success doing a trial an error, if no one enters in the 100 person raffle you can just refund them or something. But I also think a time limit would work too, since I think the issue with this one is that not only did it not fill but it had been months since this round started and wasn't making any headway. Again that might be because CSC value was rising, but it didn't really make it very appealing to me to join even if I could part with 100 CSC.

Thank you so much for all of your input!! I appreciate it even if you don't participate <3 The cost of csc is the main reason why I felt the raffle needed a revamp. Finding that happy medium is definitely going to be trial and error and ultimately what I'll resort to doing.

Yeah, the cost of CSC is ridiculous and I mean I tend to buy it with $$$ which is more of a reason why I myself don't participate since I'm much more comfortable with spending my CSC on things I know I want rather than leave it up to chance. ;P

(replying on this thread instead of the one i was pinged to because i'm going to reference some good ideas from 's post and i want to look at it while i do so HAHAHA)

hi love! here are some random thoughts in bullet form because its earlyish and paragraph are dum 4 me

--imo if at all possible have double the prizes per round as amount of winners. this would really only be the most difficult for the first round, as then you'd only have to replenish, for example, 5 prizes. also have a range of styles of CWs (gothy, girly, armor, shoes, basics, etc) so that way people with different tastes who win won't just pick the "most desirable" CWs, leaving the rest existing from round to round to round.

--i know youre probably already doing this, but it bears repeating: STALK THE PAWN SHOP!!!!! sometimes some good stuff lurks in there in the wee hours of the morning. (if i see something that i dont personally want but i know would make an awesome prize, i can always snatch it for you and have you pay me back whatever i bought it for!)

--stalk newCW as well - sometimes people release things in their shop in limited batches; if you can snag one of the last copies from a shop it will make quite the coveted raffle prize!

--be on the hunt for any contests where a CW is the prize for winning. the more free or discounted CWs you can get, the better!

--some things that are popular and would make good prizes, some of which you may be able to find on sale or in the pawn shop: cathii wigs, backgrounds, weapons (swords, etc), tattoos, horns, tails, capes, well-drawn shoes, accessories

--don't shy away from smaller CWs, especially if they are rarer: glasses are hard to find but tend to be cheap. good finds like earrings, necklaces, anklets, rings, etc usually only cost 400 or so if you can find a fair seller, but many people will pick those smaller CWs over an expensive wig or bg.

--i like the idea of lowering the ticket cost to 50csc. i think it would attract more people because people are like "eh whats 50csc?" i think you definitely DO need to have a cap on the amount of tickets each person buys, but its too early for me to math that one out, lol

--i like silvanesti's idea of sometimes having a "10 ticket raffle" or "20 ticket raffle". you dont always need to have the raffle the same each time, and having a smaller one might make it easier to gather more prizes for the first "big" one.

--for example:

Quote
-start out with a rare-ish or popular prize for a 10-ticket raffle at a cost of 700csc.
-for those smaller raffles, the ticket cost can be 100 csc, since there&;s more of a chance people can win.
-you can even make it 150csc but allow them to buy 3 tickets max out of a 10 ticket pool - giving them a 33% chance to win a 700csc item by spending only 450csc isn&;t bad at all.
-say you make your 10-ticket raffle cost 150csc each, that&;s 1500csc which gives you 800 leftover to buy another prize for the next round after reimbursing yourself the 700 from round 1.
-after buying another prize for 6-700 you will have 200 extra, which you can sock away. you will amass more and more extra csc each time you do a small-ticket round so that after a few small rounds (maybe upgrading to 20 tickets and 2 prizes after a little bit) you can afford more and more prizes for bigger raffles!

--i think another key is prize advertisement. maybe resize your banner in your sig so its a bit smaller, then underneath be like "this week's prizes include...." and link 3 or 4 items from the prize pool. that way when youre out and about (catching all those subq rs's fast as lightning! ^_~ hehehe) and posting, people will be like "WTF I CAN WIN THIS FOR 50CSC?"

--maybe switch from MKB's to subq invites or wiz tokens for participation now that you can increase pet TC slots using sP?

--i think commissioning raffle-only prizes is a good idea, but might not be cost-effective. it might be better to commission private items and reserve the only public copy for the raffle, or single-batch items where one of them is a prize :)

--overall, i think the key is going to be doing the following:

  1. start small to amass csc to buy more prizes
  2. do loads of stalking and research into the pawn shop and peoples' buy/sell threads, and stalk newCW and 24hrpawn, putting emphasis on variety
  3. once you get those covet-able prizes, show them off!

ill come back if i have more ideas ;D

I think you and have pretty much hit the nail on the head. The main things which stuck out to me while reading through the proposed revamp were the price, potential number of entries, and the prize pool.

At first I wanted to keep the price at 100CSC, so that you would have a larger prize fund, but given the ridiculous and exorbitant inflation of CSC as of late, that's pretty much impossible. I usually purchase CSC with irl currency and do so in bulk, so I feel pretty safe in saying that I wouldn't miss 50 or even 100CSC; however, I am aware that I am the exception and not the rule here, so I have to be mindful of other users, especially new and poorer players who just want a chance at a CW. SO, I'm all for lowering the price to 50CSC.

Which brings me to my next point. I would love to see the price decrease, but as I said before, how can we ensure that enough tickets are sold to supply the prize fund? I don't want to be negative or a downer or anything, but how can we be sure that each raffle will sell 100 tickets? I guess if we had a wider selection of prizes to choose from (to appeal to more users, as pointed out), that would generate more sales. Also, allowing for multiple tickets per user would be great, too, at like maybe a 10-ticket limit? I don't know if people would spend 500CSC in tickets, but hey maybe someone's got CSC to burn and wants to be charitable. (Hint hint XD)

Last point, the prize pool. I'm sure you've already heard this, but I think having a wider variety of prizes to choose from would help greatly. I myself wanted to purchase a ticket, but I wasn't particularly enamored of the prizes, so I didn't participate. I just couldn't shake the thought that I might win and end up with a CW that someone else REALLY wanted. u.u

@ dollipop oh man your post is just full of awesome it's gonna take me a minute to sift through it and properly reply

-I stalk the pawn like a HAWK muahaha. I think my biggest problem is.... I don't have the same taste in CWs that a lot of people do so the ones I pick out usually turn out to be duds lol. I'm definitely with you on having a wide variety, accessories, armor, girly stuff, grunge stuff, etc. I suppose I question my choices when trying to pick an item because I personally would never use them. I have these 3 items from the original second round raffle that I had planned on using (I got it for a really good pawn price but apparently it's in a CW shop now >_<) that's I THOUGHT might be somewhat desirable buuuut now I'm thinking maybe not (and reselling them to liquidate csc to buy more prizes is proving difficult)

-you're referring to contests like the one waijay/holly were hosting? very good idea, I should've participated LOL

-brilliant idea on the prize advertising, Y U SO SMART

-starting with a few smaller raffles seems like the thing to do at this point, at least for starters.

-I started out with the idea that people could get a but that turned out to be EXTREMELY costly, I went with MKBs because the price is fixed while raffle tickets and subq prices are like rollercoasters. I had to come out of pocket for the first round for most of the stuff (not complaining!) so it was just a cheaper route. Will look into subq invites though even though i'm greedy and want them for myself

-The reason why I'm thinking commissioning a single item for the raffle is my CW releases have slowed down to a stop. So like, for example, let's say I used the big hair wig. I may release a color or two for regular wear but I might do a couple recolors that are only for CW raffle prizes (which more than 1 winner could choose the same prize at that point! and wouldn't cost me anything after recouping direct 2 shop cost. that wouldn't bother me though, coming out of pocket for that). I would probably do the CW raffle prize colors in the popular colors, like a black or plat, the ones people are most interesting in.

@ rampage thank you for your input! I love to hear the reasons people decided NOT to participate so I can accommodate your needs (because it seems to be a common setback). On the first round there were a few people who bought 500 csc worth of tickets (I want so say out of the 30 tickets, 3-5 people did so the odds were pretty good!). And I totally get the whole 100 ticket thing, it was just the first example I started with. With a larger raffle like that though I don't expect it to fill in a few days or even a week. I haven't quite pinpointed a goal as to how long each raffle should take because it honestly depends on the users and their funds!

so far my these are my thoughts up to this point (THANK YOU GUYS) -more prizes than winners -start with smaller raffles to generate funds (mini raffles if you will? 100-150 csc price) -ADVERTISE -work a little harder on finding better prizes -larger variety of prizes -fine tune ticket to price ratio

I didn't really read through much of your response to dolli, however I did read some and can say that you can always get someone who is more familiar and aware with CWs to hunt some good deals down for you.

And I think backgrounds always do well even if they're not as popular, in terms of dresses it's hard because you don't know who is participating but I would also recommend using more uni-sex items as well to gather a different crowd and I also second that flexible prize pool where there are 10 possible items or something and like fewer winners (based on the group size) so that some CWs will just be reused for the following rounds.

As for the raffle tickets thing, I keep getting them and don't use them from my posting about, so I can donate some, I think raffle tickets and subq invites might be the best things as mini-prizes just because while they can be costly there are people who can donate them more easily.

There might be more I can respond to but I'm being extremely lazy right now so I'll respond later.
