still sounds awesome. Wish I wasnt at work using my phone right now. Lol
Yay my phone actually let me join the ping group.
Just throwing in my two cents that I would definitely be interested in doing this. Commissioning a set would be awesome, and I can vouch for the process running smoothly too. I've done this twice with a couple different artists, and both times it was really smooth sailing throughout the process. :)
I'd love a set one day :'D that would be so awesome!
thank you for your input! n_n If you'd be interested, I can mail you when I'm nearly done with the first commission/design slot, just let me know!
I am very very interested! I'll doddle off and join the new ping group c: this sounds super cool, and I'm a big fan of sets ^^
Heck yes, please and thank you! I've been watching for any possible open commission slots from you for a little while now, which happened to coincide with you not doing them so much. I'd be thrilled to grab a set slot from you if you decide to do another. :D
(Now that I am home) There was an option in the joining forum group selection about Invite only, but not sure how that works. Think they have it set as 4 settings...invite only, open, permission (where person asks to join and you have to approve them) and then closed group. Not sure how any of those really work tho.
Auctions aren't really my thing so I'm very interested to see how it will work out being sold at a flat price. might be something I can actually do in the future.
ee i love sets too! Often I doodle something and can totally picture matching items haha im really glad to see people are interested in sets n_n
ahhh yea that makes sense! I think you can only invite people when the group needs approval to join - when it is open to everyone, you cannot send invites (since you could technically find the url group)
I'm curious to see how it works out too! Keep in mind though that the flatprice will be high, since it will be sets. I didn't want most sets to be auctioned because of the number of items factor, but it could still be anywhere from $50 to $250 if it has a lot of items!
Yea I am not sure how all that stuff works. It was way above my pay grade. LOL The simple route is my mode of transportation. :D
Hey guys! I'll likely be posting something up during the weekend, but I wanted to clear a few questions/comments that were asked via mails (as well as ask for your input!)
First, I mentioned that most sets would be flatsales as opposed to auctions - I hold to this, however I do want to remind that those are sets. Meaning the flatprice will still be rather high.
If the set includes, say a wig (~ $65), a bracelet (~ $15), a necklace (~ $15) and a dress (~ $35), the total would be ~ $130. I know some people were interested in the flatsales because they didn't like the concept of overbidding each other, but were also under the impression that it would be cheaper overall - the reason I won't be selling larger sets often is especially because the total cost will be higher. I just don't to disappoint people who may think that those flatsales will end up being $40 for a set of 8 items.
(I will be working on more individual sales being flatpriced or csc viable too, don't worry!)
Most sets won't include a background, because they're expensive on their own
I plan to do a few sets of backgrounds (same idea, different views) as a collab with my bd!
Sets will generally hover around 4-7 pieces (assuming smaller pieces of course!)
Onto the inputs now!
Would you rather I post sketch sets or final sets most? In most cases, final sets will be ready to be handed in (files, CIS ready) whereas sketch sets still need to be done, which means it may take a little while longer to actually get the files!
What type of sets (fantasy, sci-fi, flowery, bloody etc.) would you like to see/buy?
Around how many total items are you expecting (including wigs, bracelets/necklaces/smaller pieces, possible backgrounds etc.)?
And lastly - I am required per subeta's rules to offer a csc/item alternative. Now, I don't really know how to do this. I think everyone can agree that if I sell a set for $150, the last thing I want is the equivalent bid of 19.5k csc. The thing is, it -is- possible that a few people do have that amount of csc on-hand, but I have absolutely no interest in owning that much csc (what would I even do with it lol). My only solution at the moment is that if you buy the set in usd, you will receive a copy of an exclusive cw (probably a wig or a background) and a two free recolors of your choice. If you have another idea though, please let me know!
If you purchase a set
Here is a chart from my first post, giving an approximate cost of seperate items. This will greatly vary, as I will be adjusting (and usually reducing) the price of the total set altogether (this is simply to give a starting point)
How it breaks down Smaller accessories, headpieces etc. | $15 - $30 Clothes | $25 - $45 Wigs | $45 - $75 Backgrounds | $75+ Recolors | $6 or 800csc in general (may vary for smaller accessories or very large items, such as backgrounds)
I promise I won't always make lenghty posts like this!
I just want to say that I am thrilled that you guys are interested in sets! I've been holding back on those for a very long time because of time and cost, but I'm hoping we can find a balance so that it runs smoothly n_n
Thank you ❤️
I'm interested in fantasy/flowery sets! Maybe also something punk-y too? If the price is about $150+ I'd probably be expecting maybe five/six items? Though it really depends because some sets may not necessarily need a BG (more fashion-orientated sets, for example) and some may have other things (ears and the such, which are more to submit but still relatively small to draw, if that makes sense).
So say for a fantasy set it could be a wig, dress, some sort of headwear, a BG, and even maybe shoes. But for fashion you could go wig, shirt, pants/stockings, bracelet, necklace, shoes etc.
And the prices of those two lots would vary
Edited for some additional stuff.
thank you! I don't really expect to add backgrounds to most of the sets, since they raise the price really fast (+ $75+ is kind of steep lol).
I like the composition you have so far though (wig/shirt/pants/a few small accessories) and will try to keep in mind the 4-7 cap on items (assuming a few smaller ones!)
Yeah, I'd sort of expect a set that's more fantasy to be more expensive, since they also tend to be more extravagant in general. If it were something that was elaborate and didn't skimp in an area (like the necklace is tiny and therefore hard to sell or something, though I know you wouldn't do that) I'm sure people wouldn't be adverse to paying $250+ for a set, especially if you're offering some sort of staggered payment plan.
It would definitely be in your best interest to start small though. xD But your BGs sell well individually.
I think the other thing you need to take into account is the price of submission for the items, but that's really already reflected in your individual prices.
I don't think fantasy equals more expensive overall, more than fantasy usually has more items incoporated!
I'm definitely open to payment plans of course n_n
As for starting small - I don't want to do 10-piece sets to start with, but I've been around for almost 4 years, I don't think I really need to make 2-piece sets in my best interest haha ;;
Lastly for the price of submission - I'll be honest, I don't think that's really a concern in the price. As soon as an item is ditributed (whether public or private), they do not have to assume the cost of submission (or only a smaller amount). If you meant adjusting the price to the category of item, then of course the necklace won't be $60, which is the cost of a wig normally!
True! It's generally more elaborate (depending what type of fantasy you're thinking of, but I'm thinking armour, floaty dresses, big wigs etc.)
Yeah, I didn't mean a ten piece set. I meant like 4-6 pieces. I think the sets will sell really well to be honest. It's much easier to buy one * o * and I can imagine that it would be really fun to win and then release!
Ah yeah, that's what I meant. I'm a bit sick at the moment so I don't think a lot of what I say is coming out as I mean it to sound.
Also another great thing about sets is that people can always team up to buy them. I think this is an awesome idea and will go down well. :)
ohh ohhh that's what you meant! I misunderstood, im sorry x3
I do agree that fantasy usually is more elaborate, in the sense that it needs more pieces/components than a simple sweater. Although I'm hoping it doesn't vary -too- much n_n
4-6 pieces definitely sounds viable. I did a 9-piece set and the only thing I can think of right now is 'goddamn I need to find 9 Ci ideas' LOL (even though im super proud of it)
Thank you so much for the input / encouragements, they mean a lot n_n
I already have a few set ideas written out, a few things sketched out. Now I just need to sit down and do something (well obviously not right now.. im at work.. haha ;; )
I hope you feel better soon! -gives cup of tea-
Nine pieces, haha! That's awesome. Good luck with the CIs though. I can't imagine that designing nine original ideas for clothing and then different ones for CIs. Maybe just pick an animal/food/jar and stick with it? I don't know. D: I have the creativity of ground nutmeg.
Good luck again! ❤ And thanks. I hope I do too. = A ='' I have to take mum out for the weekend. Best of luck designing sets!
