Hah! Sounds like sleep was a higher priority last night. ;) I love foot accessories, but yeah. Tiny space, not easy to do (or even possible sometimes). :P
Think that is the best way to go for you. That way you can just draw a set away and not worry about it getting to big. Only stinky part is doing CIs for them...but if you hold off and just have the buyer come up with a general one that the pieces they bought can work around. :)
hey guys! I should've posted it when I pinged last time just to avoid more pings but I've had some question trotting in my mind for a while and I'd like to hear your opinion!
Some of you may have followed the 'cw ideas' thread I made a week or two ago. One of the points arisen was that items ended up in the pawn shop, some of them freshly approved. Now, I don't recall ever doing this but I do admit that I sell/gift/pawn items at one moment or the other.
It sometimes happens when people forget to tell me the status of the item they just submitted - if it is private and no one tells me, I might unknowingly give away my copy to someone who is looking for it. I gifted literally hundreds of cws and there might have been some of them who had a particular status. Pleaaaase let me know when submitting so I don't embarass myself! ;;
And then the second part of the pinging ; I know there are some artists who flat out decline getting copies of their items and thus charge more. I've always been a bit wary of it simply because it means shelling out more money out of your pocket. Basically it means that every recolor will be $11 rather than $6 and I find it to be a rather steep price jump.
In most cases i keep my copies because I wear them, sometimes I'll sell/gift recolors that I wouldn't necessarily use often.
I'd like to know - are you comfortable with the way it is now, or would you rather pay an extra $5 per recolor that I may not want?
(Again, if a commissioner/releaser tells me an item is private, I will of course honor this request and keep my copy!)
Personally, I find it easier (and cheaper) to give the releaser a copy than pay the extra money, because then that means I'll be getting fewer recolors. Once in a while I might ask to maybe buy out the artist's copy if I want something just to myself and whatnot, but I find it's too expensive to do with everything.
As for item status, I know I forget to tell the artist so when that's the case I usually just don't care what the artist does with their copy since it's my fault for not informing. Though not sure if that goes against the whole private rules thing, but I don't release many privates anyway, and don't really plan on doing more because I find it too annoying to have to always keep an eye out for them being sold and such. It would be nice to know when an artist sells/gifts it though so at least I know it has switched hands, but I'm sure the artist can't go around telling people all their CWs that you've gifted/sold.
I know I am not your most frequent cw releaser but I am happy with the way it is now. Especially if we make sure everyone knows when something is private. The only thing I would say selling/gifting is awesome but selling to the pawn shop right when or soon after it is released is not. I know most artists don't do this but I wish everyone would not do that...I would rather buy back my item. Yeah, I know, I am weird but I get sad when I see my stuff in the pawn shop and they look so lonely and pitiful and unwanted there... Thanks for this!!

thank you dear! I know I've hiccuped a few times and gifted/sold items that were apparently exclusive and/or private. I felt bad afterwards but with the sheer amount of new cws I have every week (and the fact that I am not in 100% of all ping groups), I sometimes miss the ping/post that says 'hey this thing is private!' and then I turn around and gift my copy to a friend who wanted it lol qq
I tend to pawn really old items I haven't used in a while, dont worry!
Though I have a sdtrange way of seeing the pawn shop, too - instead of trying to sell an item at its regular price (which is so painful and long and annoying because r200 is annoying) I usually end up thinking 'hey what if I pawn really cool items, then people can have a chance at grabbing said items for cheaper. I get a little bit of csc, they get a wl item, it's a win-win!'.
However I know that it doesn't always have the same outcome in the end because pawn shop pretty much devaluates an item instead. Sometimes I just want to do a good deeds and I forget that the pawn shop is more or less abused of D:
I know, and I have too as so many times they don't sell and you can't GIVE them away. I know there is no perfect answer for everyone but I hope we can all just remember that we are here to have fun and try to help each other as much as we can! So again, thank you for being sensitive to this and always a very kind friend!

Yeah. I think I actually care more if an artist gifts/sells an item that I commission as a gift or whatnot because then I'm never sure if it was the artist who did that or one of the people who were gifted, but otherwise once something is on site and another user holds it, it's really out of my control to do anything.
Also in terms of pawning, you can still get a pretty decent price if you just try to sell it cheap off the bat. I dunno personally I find people who slot on something and then go around and pawn it like next day or so just... idk. I've seen it happen with one or so of my releases and it just makes me wonder why they wanted to spend the money to slot on it in the first place? I mean I'm grateful that the user didn't back out of their slot because then I would have to push something through on my own and I kinda hate to do that unless it's something I really want anyway. But in terms of pawning, I'd say just sell the item cheap and someone will still get it for cheap, and likely cheaper than pawn shop pricing which doesn't devalue the item quite like it sitting in the pawn shop for weeks+.
Hello! Personally, I'd rather give the extra copy to an artist than be charged the additional $5. Then again I've always told my artists in advance if something is going to be private and make sure they're okay with that, so it's never been a problem. :P I guess for me it really boils down to the fact that I won't pay double digits for recolors though (at least not on any consistent basis). If someone's requesting a lot of recolors, that extra $5 per color starts to add up really fast. That being said, if there's a color an artist has absolutely no interest in whatsoever I'm also okay paying the extra $5 once in awhile too.
aw thanks for posting by! n_n (wow I think is not the right expression... it makes sense in french but im pretty sure that's not how you say it in english, im sorry. It is.... 'thanks for stopping by'? D: )
I really don't have patience for selling items though qq I used to make this whole 'post your wl' and then I'd be stuck replying to 5 pages of pings and literally several hours of browsing. I just... dont... want... to do... this. And then I look at the pawn shop and think 'this could be all over in 2 mins if I just effing pawn those 50 items sitting in my inventory that I haven't used in over a year' ;____;
I think the people pawning fresh items either don't pay with usd (ie me, I claim csc slots but I never spent a dime on here since I get money off csc commissions) so they dont care as much ; or they made an impulse decision and regretted it right after.
The perfect solution to my problem (and likely others) is the csc-priced regular shops. I could just toss in tons of items I dont use without actually pawning them off. And then wait until they sell. That'd make me happy!
Like I said before, the sheer amount of new cws that I get per month is just so big, I can't really justify keeping all of them. Most of the times I gift them though, so it's not really an issue!
thank you for posting! I think warning in advance that an item is private definitely erases mistakes! And then if an item is still pawned, that's the moment where you investigate who thought it'd be great to pawn within 24 hours lol D:
Ideally I'd rather keep/gift it away than charge someone an extra $5, even if it's a color I may not have wanted initially. I find the price too steep and you're right, $5 here and $5 there quickly adds up!
I forgot about that idea of a csc priced shop! I love that idea!! 💋

What you could always do is just throw all those CWs into a shop and rather than look through people's WLs and such, just tell them things in this shop for sale. It'll still be several pages of replies and such, but much less work than looking through people's WLs. But I understand. Or even throw them up in trades and people will offer on them.
I've tried that before, same as I have tried stacking lots upon lots of cws for sale. It just doesn't work well - I end up selling maybe one or two items out of 50.
Unless I am selling a pie or a shard. Then people flock in and forget about all the other items in there lol
(I still firmly believe that the csc-priced regular shops will solve a part of this issue though!)
I wouldn't mind that either, but I guess I personally find pawning really hard to do but it might be because I've spend money on CSC and CWs so it seems like almost giving money away whereas reselling a CW isn't as painful to me.
But yeah, I find that if you were able to put items in shops for CSC prices and they'd show up in shop search they would sell much easier.
That's likely the difference - I either have no csc or a buttload of csc. While still not spending USD so it doesn't worry me as much as if I had truly spent money to get a cw (I know I sound arrogant but i promise im not, sorry ;_____; )
Keith did post yesterday (or the day before?) on the cw idea thread though! He said he was looking into some of the suggestions so I'm hoping a few of the underlying causes of cw problems will be adressed! n_n
I think you should do it based on your interest in the item. If you not interested in a color tell them. I am not the most commission heavy person as to my life but I don't think that's unreasonable. Or if they tell you it's private and your not like I need that have them pay the extra 5 and avoid it all together.
Side note I see the pawn shop the exact same way. I know some releases get upset seeing their stuff in the pawn shop. I do understand that but they didn't just make a profit on your commission either.
if a user tells me that x color will be private, I will not turn around and sell it regardless of their wishes (unless in minor cases I have a brain meltdown and forget I suppose)! I understand that not everyone has money to spare and + $5 per recolor is pretty steep. I'd much rather keep an item than having to ask extra money to someone!
Im not sure I understand the second part though, about 'they didnt just make a profit on your commission either', sorry ;;
sorry pregnancy brain it's part of a sentence I deleted. I am on my phone and thought I deleted it. Sorry for the confusion. I wish I could think of a way to help you more. And don't worry everyone has those moments where it's like their brain melted and have no idea what they did. ?
I prefer a lot more like it is now with prices, I can honestly admit that I'm not going to ask for cws to the artists who charge more (since they are not interested in their copies) because I can't afford it atm and it's quite too much asking for 10-11$ per recolour, imo. Thank you for asking that, I really appreciated it!
- I think honestly, the onus is on us, the people who commission artists. How many items have you released? How many recolors of said items have you released? It's beyond ridiculous to expect and assume that you'd be able to keep track of that many things!! If the releaser can't be bothered to tell you an items' status, you shouldn't be responsible for knowing it.
I'm all about spending less! I spend way more real money on this site than I should LOL so I'm all for anything that keeps costs down somewhat.
