I don't think there's any circumstance in which I'd say 'hey I dont want this particular color, could you please add $5 to the tab' because it would be highly inconsistant and im happy keeping/giving copies away of those I do not want, provided that I can instead n_n (ps love your HA!)

you'd actually be surprised at how many things I remember! Most of the times (I say most because... I have memory failures once in a while lol) anyway, most of the times I do actually remember who I drew this item for, and what the sketch looked like!

If I am explicitly told that an item is private/has an exclusive or particular status, I will more than likely remember, even years later! (For example, if I browse the first page of my cw masterlist, I can likely tell which ones were by who and which ones were private!) Many times I've mishapped if I wasn't informed explicitly, which is why I want to stress this point out more!

Dont worry I know the feels - I play other games and have spent more IRL money than I ever want to admit lol x.x

it only works because I spend time sketching/talking to the user, making changes, drawing the ci etc!

I spend atleast an hour or two on each project so that by the end of it, I usually remember enough details to piece them together until I have an answer. But don't ask me what I ate yesterday, I really wouldn't remember lol

idk much about cws since i dont ever have money to commission/release them but im just here to say im so awed by your constant effort to try to improve the cw market and take into account as much input as possible! it is truly amazing hehe ^0^

I don't particularly like seeing my items in the pawn shop, although I know there's little I can do to control it. I have seen a few of my items headed to the pawn shop and managed to trade for them (for something the person pawning can get an equal amount for) or purchase them for what the pawn shop gives. Perhaps if you are going to be pawning stuff down the road contact the releaser and see if they'll buy it from you at pawn price? I know that would be extra work for you, but it's a nice middle ground.

With the sheer amount of new cws landing in my inventory every week (not to mention older items people dont necessarily want), I don't think it'd be a viable solution. Not only would it be long, I feel like it'd be majorly turned down and I'd revert to just about the same issue. I can definitely commit to trying to sell cws more (rather than pawning) because pawn shop is such a risky place, but Im not sure it'd be a nice middle ground!

(Also, I dont believe most people would be willing to buy back the copy ;; )

I think you should keep your copy as a public copy, rather than charge an extra five bucks. I'm Australian, and five USD is literally a whole meal. I've spent tons and tons on commissions, CWs, CSC, etc but paying $5 more is just absurd and unfeasible for me. It would also hike the price of CWs up. Again.

I've raised the concern simply because some artists already forfeit their copy for extra USD and I wanted to know what you all thought of it when it comes to my designs/commissions etc.

(I mean, considering that pawn shop is a plague, I want work alongside everyone's popular opinion. Again if a commissioner tells me that x item is private, I won't consider my copy as public either way!)

ps. You never released the makeup design from like.. 2 years ago, if you remember it! ;o

Typically if I release a Private and the artist gets a copy, unless they ask when selling, I just assume their copy is for them to do with as they wish.

If you create a 1 batch item that was made for friends exclusively, you shouldn't have to automatically say 'well, there's atleast 1 copy potentially public'. I think most, if not all artists, would understand the value of it and either forfeit their copy or agree to keep it in their wardrobe.

I totally get that! What about offering your slot to a friend? I think the USD thing does make sense, but it'd have to be stipulated, I guess?

(And yeah I have like 4-5 items I need to release, I just got really caught up irl. I'm going to release everything as soon as I know I can commit to subeta, but real life comes first. I'd hate to advertise something and come back a month later after forgetting.)

it'd have to be stipulated beforehand otherwise it could create conflict I think (imagine if the commissioner hates your friend - it'd create friction!)

Honestly I had forgotten about it. I'm just about back on Subeta full-time, so I was trying to track the items I'd bought, but did forget about the makeup. I'll smail you when I'm 100% back, because I have a question about the Ethe/real wig too.

Either way, in the context of an artist giving up their slot, I think it actually is fair to charge the extra, I was just sort of caught up with the AUD>USD fee, as I have been lately, but no it totally makes sense. If you aren't into an item, charge the fee you see appropriate. I think the line may? be drawn when you auction off designs, because I think that there's the idea that you like the designs because they aren't commissioned.

I'm not sure i'm making sense, I just got done with a lot of household drama and cleaning at nearly 6am.

how about just have both options available? buyers can choose to pay the extra $ or you get to keep a copy? instead of just one or the other :P

I'm sorry to hear it seems like it's hard for you though ;__; Charging the extra for a copy I do not want is objectively fair, however it imposes a greater amount of money to the commissioner/buyer. And I'd rather not people deep dive in their wallet just because I happened to not like some colors!

As for the designs - yes and no! Sometimes I do stuff people may want but that I wouldn't use myself. Other times it's the color I dont use often. Still though, the average is pretty good haha

I think that, as a commissioner, if you said 'I'm not really interested in an x recolour of this wig' I'd rethink the wig colour choice. But since Subeta is a very social site, the commissioner or commission-ee may have someone to give that slot to if they really wanted it.

Either way, artists have all the rights to the design and can charge what they want, including you of course. If you don't like a design, I think it's in your right to want the cash back for it, but I also think you should say first that you aren't interested in it. So if someone comes to you with a design for fuzzy legwarmers you can be like 'hey fyi I am not interested in this, so the price would be x, plus y for recolours'. The hardest part is definitely when you like a design but not the colour, because I assume it would be a surprise for a commissioner to suddenly be charged an extra $5.

I'm kind of wary of this just because... I want to have my artist copies if I like the item haha ;; I mean, unless a user wants to make it 100% private (as in, they are the only person owning a single copy, no one else), id much prefer being able to wear that thing on my head than having to forfeit it to create further exclusivity.

One of the nicest features of being an artist is owning half of the private stuff because I drew them lol
