However i'd suggest to file a ticket and complain about this, because now that we have only 10 tries for each item it is quit a problem/unfair if suddenly some completely new things are pointed out. Also, for the waterfalls, i'd mention that there are several backdrops without outline for certain parts and they seem just as subeta like as all others too. <- there is even a small waterfall in the back.. and no obvious outline either. True, not same rules for official art and user art, but this point is kinda not valid.

For the "pillow shading" i think they pretty much mean the stones the ha is standing on, because they have only lighting streaks in one color. Maybe put some layers of shade on them?

EDIT: (Or maybe draw an outline along the side of the waterfalls, where they meet the stones??)

I would LOVE to complain about it... But at the same time I don't want to piss anyone off to the point of it never being accepted. I DO think they need to figure out how to communicate better with one another about crap like this. I know its a new thing and all but now we only get to submit it ten times. What if I get ten different contradictory reviews and then sucks to be me all my review slots are used up. :C On top of all that I haven't ever even heard of pillow shading... What the helllllllllllllll. If it looks like "good" art that some one OBVIOUSLY spent hours on... Baw. XP

And when I saw your rant about getting a critique/rejection on shading, my head sunk down and I felt your pain. Same thing happened to me as well, and it's really aggravating starting from scratch with it all.

And I looked up a bit on pillow shading (it's not a term I've heard before, but now that I have read what it means, I get it). I wouldn't say you necessarily used it, but some aspects of your background don't seem to be as crisp as cell shading should be. Some of it seems a bit fuzzy and looks more soft shaded than cell shaded.

I wish I was better at explaining things, I am more of a "let me show you" versus a "let me tell you" when it comes to these things :c I hope you get things sorted out, though! It's a lovely background. If you ever want some help or something, I'd be happy to~ :'D

I'm half tempted to try and commission an artist to clean it up for me. I'm so sick of looking at it at this point. And I didn't know what pillow shading was either... So I looked it up and seriously I want to cry a little.

I can totally see that. And the dumb thing is I made a point not to blend anything. I guess I used TO MANY colors that were similar. This next time around will be my last. I'll shade it with three to five OBVIOUS shades and I'll pick a freaking light source that is like... off to the side or something. And if it looks dumb at least the site will be happy I followed its stupid rules :C

Yeah, they aren't very specific on a lot of topics. And I had SO much critique while initially coloring, not a single person ever mentioned that I was going about it ENTIRELY the wrong way. At least I know I'm not alone on this. Thanks for the support!

:'C /pat pat pat My first critique didn't use the same term, but basically said it in a nicer way. "...makes it appear as if the elephant is made up of spheres..." He's just bulbous, Subeta staff, and my elephant is displeased with your spherical claims.

Finding someone to color shouldn't be that hard, really. I think the only things that actually need to be fixed are the cobblestones that are biggest in front, making some sharper shadows and highlights on the boulders, and then maybe doing a little more detail with shadow on the castle (closest wall could be more in-depth). The water obviously needs no touch ups, it's gorgeous~

I am pretty sure my elephant will be denied again on account of using too similar of shades as well. Want to go smash things together? ; v ;
