RESUBMITTING COBBLESTONE FALLS TODAY. -crosses fingers-
Ceraphyn your slot is set to 0 because I still have your CSC.
Sorry, I had to go on a 2-week seminar and was deprived of Subeta. What's going on? I am completely out of the loop.
I am resubmitting the cobblestone falls CW backdrop. You in particular don't have to pay in the cash shop because I still have your 700 CSC so its all accounted for. That is if you still want your slot! c:
:) Yeah, I still want my slot. I missed the updating of the cw system so I have no idea how it works now.
Seriously I had never even heard of pillow shading before subeta went and told me I was a lazy idiot... Um. Apparently I am to stupid to be able to do this backdrop thing the way they want. SO I GUESS I'LL BE LOOKING INTO COMMISSIONING SOME ONE TO COLOR IT FOR ME u.u; How much of a failure do I feel like rite now...
If anyone knows anyone who is good at this sort of thing let me know. I don't have money I can spend on it... but IDK what people are paying for CW commissions........... -overly dramatic sigh-
I have no idea what that is either... :( But good luck!
Admin just jealous that they don't have your skillz. I think it honestly depends on the person you get to review the items because some admins seem to be a lot nicer and more lenient than others.
There is no Shepard without Vakarian
hugs >< that must be really really frustrating. I'm not sure what that is either, but hopefully you can get someone to shade it for you?
[flower=Gothique]
Yeah hopefully..... I don't think the water is an issue, just the godawful rocks and stupid castle. I was waaaaaaay to ambitious with this as my first item. Lesson learned. u.u;
Don't be too discouraged, because that is a beautiful background. I was just searching around to see if there was anyone else with similar backgrounds that you could ask for advice or anything, but I'm coming up empty.
Will you be attempting simpler backgrounds in the future though? We need your backgrounds badly xD
[flower=Gothique]
Eh, maybe something less complicated like.... a foreground or partial back drop that you can layer with other things.
I have been drawing for years and years and I have taken classes on top of classes and even if I am a little newer to digital it's still been long enough to where I feel like I know what I'm doing and HOW to shade things and whatever. . . . . . I just can't seem to grasp what the hell subeta is talking about. I need to WATCH some one draw something as an example. I watched the wig demonstration and that's all well and good but it doesn't tell me ANYTHING about how to shade a flipping backdrop @.@
There is an open topic about cw's in the feedback forum. Maybe try posting it there and asking for clarification?
edit: You are not using gimp and layers, are you? otherwise i would have tried to change some things.. I think you should maybe remove the lighting on the stones and instead of that just use two or three dark shades. Pillowshades means more or less you are putting shadow in the corners and some lighting in the middle. In your case i guess they call it pillow shaded, because your shading pretty accurate. I'd maybe go ahead and make it more random.
It's their technique for shading things. It's more anime style (which is the closest reference I know). Have you tried looking at deviant art for tutorials? I think youtube has some as well if you're up to searching for one that fits your needs.
I think the only course you have left is to file a ticket, ask for artist advice, having them point out the specific areas where the 'pillow effect' occurs and showing examples of the technique they want you to use to shade.

I'm using Paint tool SAI. Um... I think your rite... my shading is specific and other backdrops appear to be less specific... They talk about a light source and all that crap and when I try to make one apparent I'm pillow shading u.u; Their definition of lazy shading is totally opposite from mine. Maybe I'm the one over complicating everything and they just want it simple and practically flat.
I'll see what those guys have to say. Thanks!
If I don't get any help from the CW feedback forum place I will totally file ticket XP
