Hello Dragonriders of Pern-lovers. n_n
I managed at one point some years back to run a fairly successful Weyr, but we had some big trouble along the way, and we pretty much died after that, even though we had some awesome members. Now some old members and a lot of new ones have closed ranks, and the Weyr can be considered up and running, hurray! n_n The Hatching is happening at last, and the Candidates are trying to ignore the warm sand beneath their sandals as we speak. However, if your Candidate runs, I'm sure there's still a Hatchling for him/her! n_n
It's a semi-canon Weyr with 3 extra colors and the option for girls to Impress green and blue. We do not have psychic abilities, magic or cellphones. We do however have dragons, and that's really what you came for, aye? We toss around ideas and use the best, but at the same time we try to be faithful towards Anne's Pern.
As a Weyr, we try to do things together, and usually we vote, before any changes are made. This also means that if you join, you'll have the ability to work for a Weyr that makes you as a roleplayer go "Squeee!" with joy.

, , and get over here!
I'm going to move this for you. :) All website plugs, including sites for or about roleplay, belong in the Internet subforum of the Entertainment board.

working on concepts for this, but because my internet access is sketchy just now, it might be a little bit before I can be super active.
working on my character grins
I"m thinking of reusing M'rik, rider of bronze Imminth, from this thread.
This board reminded me, I bought the first three books to that series and I never actually read them ^^''.
That being said, I did used to roleplay this series. I had to wing it and run on information given to me, I ended up playing a dragonhealer's apprentice. Sadly, I had to leave it because of a board topic being seen and viewed as inappropriate.
Oadira <clickable
Once I've familiarized myself a bit more, I'd love to take a look at this ^^.
Oh, I found you on that thread. n_n (I spent hours searching for people and inviting them to the ping group.)
To be honest, I've only read Dragonflight. They're SO hard to get from a library here in Denmark, and I don't have room for owning them. So I've been reading up a lot on various sites. :) Other than that, I love having a trusted co-admin, who knows a lot, too. :)
...wikipedia? xD I used to read the rules and stuff of other weyrs to get a grasp on the roleplay aspect. Also, you can pretty much just google 'Dragonriders of Pern', lots of sites pop up. :) Anyhow, if you want to join, you should. I've always encouraged all members to be friendly and helpful, so nobody will hate you for making mistakes. ;)
Thank you ^^ I'll have a look around.
I'd like to, but I think I should be getting some more information under my belt first off. I didn't even know the characters couldn't have glasses.
I've never actually... been in a cult before. 3 years under my belt and I got nothin'. xD
But, jeez, it's been a while since I've been in a Weyr. I'll just bring in one character for now, see how it goes. Hope this'll be fun. :D
I'm not sure how much help I'd be. I ran my own Weyr for about 5 years with (I think can vouch for that as well) after Impressing a Gold at another one and operating as the Junior Weyrwoman until the Senior "passed away" (read: quit). That's ... my only character. D:
Do you have information anywhere about what kind of a weyr you'll be running? I'm usually a fan of more canon weyrs, though I can handle an extra color for the sake of making up for the excess of female RPers (when most dragonriders in the books are male). I've read everything up through Skies of Pern and am a bit of a stickler - weyrs with 10 unique colors and psychic pets that go against everything the series ever taught us about metasynth just drives me batty.
Well, Tkana Weyr has 3 new color dragons. We also allow females to Impress green and maybe blue, simply because most prefer to RP (heterosexual) girls, and they can only Impress gold. Some time before it died, we also tried to implement a new species, but...well, I was much younger back then. :P I like to vote for things, let the members themselves decide which direction to take.
Looks good. I'm going to watch where this goes and maybe I'll join at some point :)
I'd like to know what Turn this takes place within, so we know if we're just coming into, mid or near the end of the Interval. As for multiple colors, i'm a bit eww on that as well. I've played in Weyrs that allowed women to impress browns as well as blues and greens and with that we didn't find much need for white, black, orange or purple dragons grins.
Is this to be a Northern or Southern continent Weyr? What sort of local holders do we have to contend with?
Two turns before 10th Pass. We pretty much skipped the whole evolution though, and it's just like 9th Pass. It was more...well, fun back then. Well, we actually voted on it, and we ended up with semi-canon back then. :) I may issue a new poll on the matter, though, if nobody at all wish to join a semi-canon Weyr. :)
Southern. :) As for the last part of the question, I have to call the "English is my second language"-card. I don't understand, sorry. xD Edit: explained it to me; they have a pretty negative attitude towards the Weyr, which should now be a little clearer in my first post. n_n
I'll take the last one, then.
There are currently two Holds near the Weyr, and neither is very appreciative of the presence of a new Weyr. As hinted at in the short background in the top post, they don't like trusting all their work over the course of the Interval to this single Weyr, barely established in time for the Pass. Some holders may even be unwilling to yield their children to riders on Search.
Is that a pretty good summary of it, Lily?
