My best friend's former flat was like that - a crap hole would be putting it nicely. And her LL was basically batshit too. Now she's in a condo that is beautiful, but she and her roommate can barely afford it because their other roommate moved out (whole big ass nasty story there) and they're looking for someone else to move in.

Ah god that sucks so bad. I hope she can find something just as nice that they can afford. :( It's always horrible when your 'friends' jump out on you, especially on something like that because it's life destroying, or can be.

At least you've got a back up plan! Try and find somewhere where the trailers don't suddenly set themselves on fire! Haha, at least you've still got your humour to help you through such a horrible time. I'm really rooting for you. I'm sure there are plenty of nice trailers around that would be more suited to you and your daughter. I'm not too sure though because I've never lived in a trailer / been to a trailer park etc. so I'm just guessing. But from the TV shows I've glimpsed at, some of them are lovely. :)

- Oh no doubt some trailers are lovely, but they're also as expensive as some homes nowadays, and while a home appreciates in value, a trailer is like a car, and depreciates. Why spend $30K+ (I've seen some as high as 60K !) when you will never be able to build anything up with it ? Mine is almost 50 years old, I don't even think I can sell it for crap, maybe a couple hundred bucks if I'm lucky. Ideally I'd live out of town enough I can have a horse and buggy for transportation and live on my own on a small farm. ahh. That would be lovely. I'd never wear shoes again.

@//psychedelia Ahh jesus, what a waste I can see why you wouldn't want to spend that much, especially as the value drops. 60K isn't a good investment for the future. It would be better if the value stayed the same, like a house... It's a shame. But what a lovely dream... :) I'm sure you'll be able to fulfill it one day, it's not so much to ask, either. I've seen some house prices for American properties and they're really affordable as long as you're in the right situation. I know you can do it though!

You've got to live in the shit to be able to emerge to a new and better life -- that's what my mum said to me earlier and it applies to you, too. You'll have the better life! :)

Haha, I'd love to be able to walk around without shoes and eat organic veg all the time and live in a beautiful eco home. I bet you're wonderful- they're just jealous they can't be such free spirits!

Thing is, she doesn't want to find another place. She's moved around so much in her life and this place really felt like home. So she's keeping it no matter what I guess. I told her it'd probably be worth it to move just one more time, just so her bank account doesn't die, but she really doesn't want to. She does have a couple possibilities lined up for new roommates though, so I hope one of those comes through.

I wish her all the luck in the world with finding a new roomie. I know how tough it is and when you move around a lot, it's so hard to uproot. I don't blame her, especially if she feels like this place is her home. I'm sure if things got TOO tough, she could always apply for help? I'm not sure if you're in America or England, but there must be help available, especially if someone backed out on the original agreement. Ahh life. :(
