Just a warning about barefoot running and low-support shoes. Barefoot running is great if you have grown up running and walking about barefoot, but it is not so good for those of us who have grown up using shoes, or for use on modern surfaces.
Most people's biomechanics do not support running barefoot safely, and modern surfaces are far too hard to run on for any particular length of time. Concrete gives a ground reaction force three times your body weight through your foot at heelstrike, this can contribute toward stress fractures of the foot or shin.
There is really no good reason for the average runner to try to barefoot run or simulate it unless they've got a good reason for it. The risk of injury is huge.
The warning stated by is true. Find a pair of shoes to start your running with dont jump into low support unless you have a medical indication for this.
On another note I find it hard to keep my motivation up for running over long periods, I get into it for months and then something happens and I struggle. What I found helps is having a kilometre (or mile) goal for the week. So if I feel like sludge on monday hey I'll only go run 3 kilometres. But thats still 3 kilometres to my say 25km a week goal. Keep it written down and tally it up, gives really good motivation and feels amazing when you blast past your weekly goal. Start the goal low and gradually increase it as your stamina grows.
