Games. I like RPGs with interesting plots. the downside is that it makes me want to write fanfiction. i tend not to use music for writing inspiration. once i get a song stuck in my head its hard to think of anything else. also for some reason i tend to write best when i'm sleep deprived and at the hyperactive, overtired stage.

Dreams and music are inspirations for me too, but the biggest root of inspiration for me is pretty random, haha. For example, when I’m just thinking in general I’ll have a random thought and then one thought leads to another and then I have an idea! I usually have to wait a few days, though, and let it sit in my head… it starts to flesh itself out in my mind, and I usually start connecting songs or happenings in my day with it, which helps too. Does anyone else get inspiration like this or am I just weird…?

Music usually helps me get into a writing mood.

Usually I have very vivid dreams so when I wake up in the morning I like to pull up a new Word Doc and write everything I can remember about it. Sometimes if it's interesting enough I can turn it into a short story. I mostly just get the ideas but then once it comes to the actual writing, I'm never satisfied.

Just start keeping track of your dreams in a journal or on MS Word! Once you start to continually write them down they'll become more vivid and you'll remember them better. c:

I get really vivid dreams like that too, haha. I probably could turn some of them into stories if I wanted to. I don't write them down, but I have a really good memory, so I tend to remember a lot of them.

As far as inspiration goes, music inspired a lot of my stories, but sometimes random other things do too. For example, when I started volunteering at an animal kennel I would just watch how the animals behaved, and that inspired me to make a story about shapeshifters. When the story starts to take more shape, though, all sorts of things inspire me. It could be anything from an outfit I see in a store to a random conversation with somebody(especially my family; they say some really funny things sometimes).

Like a lot of people, music really helps inspire me. Also for some odd reason I seem to get some of my best ideas like... RIGHT before I sleep, which sucks because there I am trying to sleep and these brilliant ideas keep running through my head. Unfortunately sometimes I don't remember them when I wake up but if I do it's glorious.

Really sucks when you can only write when you're tired, lol. (I normally write after midnight, I don't think that's a good thing xD) Yesterday I was trying to come up with new ideas for a story but gave up because I couldn't think of any. Lo and behold an idea came to me just as I turned off my computer OTL

Have you tried keeping a pad and pencil near by to write those ideas down? Maybe in the morning you'd remember why they were such great ideas and be able to write them!

I'm always overconfident that I can indeed remember all my ideas in the morning xD Since they're so vivid when I receive them. You're right though, since this is happening more often lately I should do that.

A walk, definitely a walk. Whenever I reach a dead end with my novels, I shoot my mom a text or phone call to tell her I'm going for a walk and I just wander around my community or the park that's about 11 blocks from my house. We live very close to this huge park that stretches all around the city so it's nice to wander around and enjoy the fresh air.

Right now, nothing is giving me inspiration. :c

I usually look to my own life and experiences, and draw from them for my stories. Music also helps... But... uhh. I'm not getting anything from my muse lately.

It seems like... nothing I think of is original. I have sad stories, I have angry stories... but they all just seem the same, so dull and mediocre. Everything I think of seems cliche. Like its all been done before, and I don't want to be one of those people with the SAME OLD song and dance with every writing I do. Which is sad, because I have ten awesome pets, begging me to write for them.

HALP. ;__;

Also, I'm really jealous of everyone who can get inspiration from dreams. I never remember my dreams. :c

Other creative works (especially films, not so much music) and dreams are my main sources of inspiration. My dreams have given me many, many story ideas; I have very interesting and unique dreams. In fact the majority of my stories started their lives as dreams! I always try very hard to remember my dreams so it has become part of my automatic routine, but if anyone is having difficulty try writing them down the minute you wake up and focus on as much detail as possible whether that's visual, audial, emotional, whatever. If you don't normally remember them then it could take a while for you to be able to recall everything but just be patient and start out with the little bits. It does take practice to remember your dreams. In the past I've become lazy with my dream recall and it did worsen so you have to keep it up.

I get that feeling a lot of the time. Sometimes it just feels like everything that is worth doing has already been done... and done, and done, and done. Don't give up though! I'm sure there is something new and exciting around the corner.

One of my ideas has it's inspiration in a bizarre dream of mine. Most inspirations I have, however, occur when I come across a basic concept and add layers to it.

Outside Subeta, music is my primary source of inspiration, along with anime. Like, if I watch an action anime like Bleach, my thought processes start to shift towards an action-y type story or some characters fighting, and then my imagination takes off and leaves me in the dust. If I watch something like Princess Tutu, suddenly all my characters are melodramatic in acting and like dancing. I tried writing a FFVII fan fic while listening to music from Repo, and suddenly Sephiroth was singing his lines... It was creepy as hell.

In Subeta, the names and images of pets inspire me. Like...I like finding a pet in the pound whose name appeals to me. Sometimes the species/color, too, but mostly just the name. Then I adopt them and a character starts to form in my mind. I'll get a basic personality, and then find a song that fits. Then one thing leads to another. o3o It's all very fun.
