How's this maybe? D|
And yeah that would be my problem, making too many colour transitions. I make much more than the 3-5 layers :/
I think you lost on the right shade now. :/ Maybe your should lower the layers on the first hair? Make 5 colors, paint near colors on the same tone and see if they get more easy to recognize :P
ahaha so it's even worse? xD I'll try lowering the layers, I think I have... 11 right now? D|
Not worse, but the other one is better, because the lighting is more obvious. ;) And WOW 11 LAYERS LOLZ XD
That's about the average layers I do for each wig, too xD Between 8 and 12. It's too much right? How many should I make? I find that 3 is way too low, even 5 is a bit borderline. Unless 5 is what people usually settle for? I'll have to adjust x3
How's this? D|
[edit]

Yeah, 5 is the common number people go. You can go up to six, unless you're working with different colors on the same hair! :D Ham, I still think it looks the same (shading aspect, color aspect I like both!) but I do see a few solid borders, probably not how much they want but enough. I'm still pissed they complaint at you and let a few other wigs go, with the same shading style...
Im sorry, I just... I dont understand what I'm doing wrong, I dont know how im supposed to fix this ._____________________. It has 5 layers of shading, a few filters to darken here and there (they dont change much to the whole wig though). And it still looks so messy.
They also just denied the blacklight updo, said it was soft shaded lol T.T
Linkage I hope you don't mind paintovers! I like to shade hair in basically 'ribbons', which basically allows you to use large brush strokes that hold up slightly better to resizing. I have a bad habit of picking colors from the antialiasing between shades, but I dabbed in a more-or-less accurate palette to the side there. I think you were on the right track in post the way you were handling the poofbun, because to me that has a lot of definition and still looks good. I think for the right (our right) side of the newest version, if you basically limit the brightest shade on that side to a middle-ground (maybe just putting a "darken" layer over it), it might also help to keep your lightsource consistent (I have trouble with this personally, I've found XD). I hope this is of some use to you!
Interesting! When I first saw it I was like, but it's way too big and obvious D| And then I resized it and it toned down the contrast a lot! xD
I kind of liked that faded effect that the staff won't accept, so I'll try maybe integrating small bits of those with your technique. It does make me realize however that I can use much bigger brush sizes than I use currently, and it won't look as obnoxious as I thought it would. I'll have to try that, thank you so much! x3
Yeah, you kinda have to exaggerate in some ways XD But you're welcome, and hopefully it's given you some new ideas! For sure that's just the way I handle it, you have to do what's right for your style :)
Unfortunately 'my style' always gets denied by the staff lol xD I'll have to ask my friend to show me cell shading on wigs. Because I swear I made a new wig and did 5 layers of shading only, 5, and it still looks smudged and blended together T.T
Thank you so much! I'll try to redo that coral wig tonight when im home (im at work right now), I'll ping you if you dont mind! I dont want to get denied again "_________________"
Sure, if you want c: I've only done a few wearables so far and I've had my share of denials, but none of them have been for softshading... yet XD (I will collect them all!)
I loved your tuto, ! has a very strong technique, but they always pick on it. It's so hard for me to explain because I can't do what she does, even tough I can see her layer shades! @.@
lol, they are picking a lot on me, huh? xD Sometimes they deny me some stuff and accept other's for the same 'mistakes' and im like... thank you :P I just wish that their standard would be more uniform I guess.
This may have something to do with the screen configs, perhaps it's visible more with some people than others :)
The custom item Delicate Coral Rose Locks has been approved, and one has been placed in your inventory!
Kat, I've used what you did, and redid it myself, toning down and adding more shading here and there, I hope you dont mind that I took your shot of the wig as a big reference B) Thank you so so much you two for helping me out! ❤️
Congrats on getting it through! It's no problem at all, it would be silly for me to provide an example and then say you can't use it at all xD It looks great, especially in your more polished style c:
Yaaay!! ❤️ It looks as pretty as the previous version! I think if you keep on using 's tips you'll find a way to work with your style in Subeta, and it'll be less of a pain to go through ^_^
It's me agaiiiiiiiin! :(
Your custom clothing Blacklight Updo was denied for the following reason(s):
• OVERLAY: Dodge/burn look or too much contrast in shading
• Hi there, we're extremely sorry for the delay and thank you for your patience. While we understand that the hair is meant to be streaked, the style of the streaks and/or the color choices are contributing to the dodged look; they're coming across as highlights at the moment.
I dont know how to fix that. I mean, I /know/ what they mean I suppose, that the bright areas kind of give the sense that there are highlights on the right part of the hair where it's usually darker. But it's supposed to glow, dammit T.T
I also dont understand because they have accepted similar items before, where the glow is opposed to the source light.
(they've made us wait for almost two weeks to let us know that lol...)
I won't mention the decision now because I'd make a freaking long post about how things are being handled and I think everyone already know my opinion about the staff position on approving customs.
So anyways, perhaps change the position of the streaks? OR change the shape of the streaks, like put them larger on the tips, so it evidences that it IS a streak standing out. You use a lot of shading levels that gives the impression of soft color, so that may be confusing things up, I think the major issue would be the bangs part.
