Nothing on Subeta will completely load due to "transferring data from www.google.com..."
It makes trying to buy things from the main shops for quests really frustrating.
I know the pain I get that a lot too at random times, it makes navigating the site a pain... but it comes and goes. Sometimes a few hard refreshes helps but not always.
This sounds like basically the same problem i've been having for the last week or so. Pages never stop loading; they may look completely loaded but the "rolling donut" in the tab never stops and it always shows that something is still trying to load at the bottom (e.g. on this page right now it says "Read static.ak.facebook.com" - which is especially aggravating because i hate FB and i have the widget blocked, but sometimes it's google or googleads or something that loads forever). Occasionally pages just hang with a blank white page and i have to hard-refresh to force them to load. I can resolve the problem temporarily by clearing my cache but after a very short while the issue resumes. This is not a practical solution because it's a huge PITA to have to re-login to all my sites every half hour or whatever.
This same thing was going on back in May/June and a lot of users had issues. In my case, at least one time it seemed to be related to CloudFlare datacenter issues but they haven't reported problems with any datacenters lately, at least not ones that would affect me. And i don't have this problem on any other site. It's just Subeta.
Firefox 31.0/WinXP
Do you have adblock? FB gave me headaches sooo badly but if you block right to the source then it should help stop that one thing. As for the others, I had a bit of issues earlier with once again Google and it's many counterparts taking forever to finish loading.
I do...i'll look into that, thanks. I'm using custom CSS to block the FB link though, rather than the adblocker. Right now it's hung up on "Transferring data from www.google-analytics.com..." so i don't know if i can do anything about that...
I'm still having problems with this off and on. At the moment, the things causing hang-ups and lag are "www.google-analytics.com..." and "avatar.subeta.net..."
Again, no problems on any other sites. I'm using Firefox 31.0.
Getting this quite a bit off and on during the day (like right now Google is being a pain and keeping pages hanging) very annoying because it stalls out on every page until it decides to stop being annoying.
Still getting this as a problem... At the moment, it's "www.google.com..." and "static.ak.facebook.com" that are making the site hang.
"Read assets.customer.io" is my main source of forever loading pages today.
Just popping in to say that there is not much that we can do about these because we connect with Google Analytics, Facebook, etc. Are there nay pages in particular that have an issue? I can try to see if any specifically have additional connections that might be bogging the load times down.
Not really any particular pages, this just seems to randomly pop up (for me at least) it'll happen for about 1-2 minutes then the pages load fine. Happens on and off and most of the time it's from one of google's lines.
- I had the same problem a while ago and fixed it by installing the add-on ghostery for firefox. You can select which scripts and trackers you want to block dynamically in every page. It also gives you a short description of what each one is. I have it set to block Google Analytics and Facebook Connect (this has the bonus of preventing them from collecting your data).
Ever since I installed it, pages have been loading better, and I don't get the "transferring data..." timeouts I used to. Your mileage may vary, though!
Thanks for the tip! I installed Ghostery and hopefully that will help in the future. (I haven't been having the loading problem for a few days now but it has been a recurring issue.) I don't particularly like being tracked anyway so this sounds good to me whether it solves the loading problem or not. :P
- Thanks for looking into this. I haven't run across it recently, but I also haven't had any prolonged time on the site lately due to my work schedule. I will see if I notice a pattern to when the page hangs happen (either time or day or pages involved) and I will update you if I feel I'm on to something.
- Thanks for the info on the "Ghostery" add-on. If I feel I need it down the road, I'll be installing it :)
[edit]
- So over the past day, I've installed the "Ghostery" add-on that suggested and Subeta is still having problems hanging and not fully loading due to itself (avatar.subeta.net, img.subeta.net, and subeta.net). It's been on every page this morning for the past 15-20 minutes, so that's a problem. Before it was sporadic (a page here, a page there). Now it's constant, every page, all the time.
