For the longest time I was using the (plus other colors) over to give eyes more eye makeup. :)
DESPERATELY LOOKING TO BUY:
When I want to use eyebrows and the eyes I want to use don't have them, I like to layer or under them. It works pretty well with the nazars and brighteyes contacts.
This is a really old combo I used to use for covering up pinkie patch, especially over the summer, but now that we don't need to cover up it's more to make the sunscreen a bit darker: Pinkie patch base+ (to cover the eyes)+ /(to add color to the face paint)+ + . I think there might have been some kind of blush somewhere in there to make the bottom part of the face paint less pale, but I don't remember what it was. I either used items like or or just wore clothes that covered the right spots to cover the hearts.
A couple weeks ago, I found out layering + + + + or background+ artist pencil depending on the background+ + + makes a nice ice/snow themed base. Outfit Not Found
I've been playing with hair layering recently and I've found a wig combo that I quite enjoy!
On top of items/base (except hair accessories)
then, under HA base
works best so far with black wigs, still working on finding good red or brown layering combos.

[edit]Oh! totally beat me to this topic. Well, the more the merrier, right? ^^
Have you guys noticed how many of the black CW wigs can be layered together for awesome results? It might be a limited topic, since they are so expensive, but for those who dabble, it is definitely worth checking out! The results below are just the tip of the iceberg; I encourage experimentation (Disasters' wigs usually work well (and I have not been paid to say that)). If the bangs get in the way, try layering one wig under the base.
I use under a whole bunch of different black wigs, and most of them blend really well. Unfortunately, the orchid tresses are almost impossible to get hold of, but similar wigs like might do the trick.
goes well under or (put the Sweetheart Waves behind the base).
look great under or .
There are even combos of threes! You can have the biggest hair ever! :D
great minds think alike!!!! I've actually slowed down on buying CW wigs because of the layer combos I've been finding. No need for new wigs when you can make some pretty awesome (and sometimes HUGE) hair with what you already have :D
I found that + makes for a pretty ominous combination, especially for demon or vampire HAs. Add the to it and you've got a haunted photo. lul

Oh that's really cool! I've been wringing my head for a way to use those two items, but I've never thought to put them together.
Thanks!
Understandable. The Cracked Photo is kind of weird on its own because we already have Antique Camera and they (probably) don't mix very well. The Candlesticks, on the other hand, are really, really dark on the edges.
Combining them makes the Candlesticks much less harsh while giving the Cracked Photo a darker Antique Camera look.

One of my favorite combinations for lips is the and . It makes for a really nice, more neutral-colored mouth, and it can be darker or lighter depending on which you layer on top. Also, gives a good base for or . All of the plant-type items you can buy from Spells Galore (eg. chicory, Wild Garlic, Ginger Root etc. etc.) all tend to layer well with each other for nature-y avatars, especially the mushrooms. I also like using Spells Galore plants with . For forests, the Liquid Fog Sample items and the Lightbulbs are really good for setting ambiance.
redeemed under the base, but over the background and makes the builder haircut longer. (I'm using it now)
over adds a bit of shape. It also works with .
(or another color) over the sacred salon style makes it longer. You might need to use the last 2 streaks to make it work.
Ooh, I love this thread!
I like layering over to round out the eye a bit.
Also putting over makes a beautiful skirt, but matching a shirt with it is hard. I'm sure one exists though!
My favorite is this though: Put any background that can layer over the base in front of the base. Then put over it and in front of that. It makes it look like a mysterious portal to another world.
I just discovered the looks really cute layered over !

I've recently started layering the under the variants of . Gives great eyebrows but also awesome bottom lash definition under whatever eyes you put on top.
has an awesome effect layered over almost any other lipstick. It can darken, make more realistic, or just subtly change the color. It works with the Dream Lip Tint series, the Deluxe Lipshine series (especially these), but also just about anything else. Try it out! :D
I just discovered that over the line of lips looks really nice. c: It's like the but more subdued.
the effect: Private Outfit
