Yer so.... I haven't really read a book since HP7... nothing really has appealed to me :c

Did you replace HP with anything after the 7th book came out? (NOTTWILIGHT:@)

I really want to get back into reading :(

Read Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer. It's a "train of thought" sort of narrative, and it's hilarious and very, very well-written.

I'd also suggest you read Lord of the Rings. It's sort of a tedious read, but it's fantastic. Tolkien is a great author.

Read Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and its sequels, all by Douglas Adams. They're hilarious and a fantastic read, also.

Any Sherlock Holmes story by Arthur Conan Doyle would be a great read, too.

i just.. yknow.. read them over and over again :|

... or i read other books about potter. harry potter and society, religion in harry potter, etcetc.

BUT. i agree to hitchhiker's guide! i love the series.

warm bodies! though i don't think you can get it anywhere in the states right now. it's a comical love story set at the end of the world where a zombie falls in love with a living girl. it's an easy read and really cute.

i reallyreallyreallyreally love bret easton ellis's books. less than zero and the rules of attraction are my favorite.

Nothing can ever really take the place of Harry Potter (forgive me for saying so Mr. Tolkien) but I rather enjoyed the Percy Jackson series. Easy to read and funny.

Nothing will ever be as absolutely amazing as HP.

On another note: The Hobbit is amazing, and the Lord of the Rings trilogy is equally amazing. J.R.R. Tolkein is a great writer. :)

Anything written by Francesca Lia Block. :P

Teacher Man by Frank McCourt if you think you could like a biography.

The A Song Of Fire and Ice series by George R. R. Martin is one I've found really enjoyable.

The Meaning of Night by Michael Cox is really really amusing but not to some people's taste.

ROBERT JORDAN.

He has enough books you won't need to read another series for ten years.

Lord Dunsany. Tolkien. Terry Pratchett. Neil Gaiman. (Terry Pratchett x Neil Gaiman). Terry Goodkind. George R. R. Martin. Robin Hobb. Tad Williams. R.A. Salvatore.

This list could really go on and on.

Fourthing Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. I think it's fourth.

I definitely agree with Smaug on most of the choices. Neil Gaiman is funny. Robin Hobb is good. Tad Williams is good. Been meaning to read the George R. R. Martin. And Robert Jordan has a ton of books. Tolkein is good, you just have to keep at it.

When I finished reading Harry Potter, I was all "I NEED MY MAGIC BACK" After Harry P., not everything will do. The level goes uup. So I found Artemis Fowl. It's different, it's awesome, it's creative and I couldn't stop reading it. And I love how the characters develop through the series. It's great, really. Then there's Narnia. And His Dark Materials. Do check them out.

I wish I could fifth the Hitchhiker's Guide, but I haven't read it yet. Yet.

I'm going to go ahead and second the Artemis fowl comment. All the books are funny and entertaining AND easy to read(which for me is a plus since I don't have the time to read anything that takes too much effort). A lot of people like the hunger games, so you might want to look into that.(I wasn't impressed) Try books by Garth Nix! A very interesting writer. Also, read "Howls moving castle"! Awesome book! Sorry if this is too many recommendations. I'm a book nerd. :D

the "Septimus Heap" series by Angie Sage. It's a magic- wizard-apprentice-fights-evil-wizard-who-wants-to-rule-the-world series sort of like Harry Potter, but a billion times better in my opinion.

I don't know if you can really replace a book series with another one. However you can read different books. I also recommend The Dresden Files. You might want to look into the fantasy/mystery genre since that's what Harry Potter is to me.

The Dresden Files equal love!

I admit -- I have never finished an entire Harry Potter book. I tried, but just couldn't get into the series. That being said, I don't know how helpful this list will be for you, but you might find something you like. Here's the list Seven pages to look through! Hopefully you'll be able to find something that interests you... Users of Goodread are allowed to freely add whatever book they'd like to these lists, so you'll have to sift through the duds that are totally unrelated to HP's genre ):
