If for some reason I really need to find something on someone's profile I just disable page style on their profile. I've done this for Toting. Otherwise if I can't find what I was looking for then it's more on them for the tough luck of me not doing what I need to do.

I think this is a great suggestion, but is right about some problems with it. It would be useful for most profiles, but it will render some of them totally blank when the user has all their information in custom coding rather than the widgets themselves. Still, I actually like the idea of people being able to turn off my profile if it gives them problems.
Every Vesnali, I paste all my friends' flower links into my notepad so I don't have to go to profiles. Subeta is determined not to provide a flower code because Vesnali is "different" from the other holidays, or something. :l
Yes I did. LOL Thanks for telling me. I'm way to tired. I edited the post. :)

What was the question?
I'd be a little sad that no one could see my profile, but I suppose there's a crowd that doesn't like them as much as I do.
Support.
Honestly, I'm against it. People spend millions on art and code for their profiles. Permanently disabling it simply isn't warranted. As pointed out, you can get someone else's code and manually input the username. This was far faster for me when sending flowers.
Rather than disabling profiles, why not just ask for the same features we get for dancing and kissing? The ability to use S-Code to link to Flowering. Seems much more reasonable.

Your reasoning is, "I spent this much money/sP on a profile so everyone has to look at it"? That's ridiculous. Why the hell do you think people should have to be forced to look at something just because you bought it?
I for one fully support this suggestion. Sometimes I don't want to see someone's profile layout because it makes things harder to find or maybe just because I don't like it nearly as much as the owner does.
Again, no one FORCES you to look at profiles. You can grab another url and manually input the code. I don't give a rip who goes on my profile or not, but to make it a mass option to clear out profile layouts? No thanks. It isn't necessary.

I'm well aware that one can paste/type out a URL without visiting someone's profile. What made you think I was only referring to event-only things? Sometimes people want to look at someone's profile for other reasons, such as to read their 'about me' (which could still be displayed in plain text).
Guess what: just because you paid for your profile doesn't mean people should have to look at it. How are you at all affected by people turning off their own ability to see your profile layout? Like... why even argue against this option?
You don't need to be belligerant because I disagree with you. :)
I simply dislike the idea. I spend a lot of time on my art to go on my profiles, so I do like when others see it. If you don't like it, then don't visit my profile.

Your reasoning is still flawed. You spending time and money on your profile doesn't mean anything. If people want the option to disable seeing other people's profile layouts, they should be able to do so. It doesn't affect you so there's no legitimate reason for you to be against it.
No, you aren't standing there forcing people to look at your profile, just as you aren't forcing people to look at your shop... but we have the ability to turn off viewing people's layouts there, so it makes sense to be able to turn off the ability to view people's profile layouts as well.
Besides, some profiles take longer to load on bad connections, which is another reason we should be able to turn them off. :)
I.. don't support.
You can always toss the username or user number in the url of any flowering/tot-ing/harvest/kissing that doesn't even need to visit profiles.
Sure people can turn if off, but with all the custom coding, the example above does point out a big down fall to such a feature. Also, if I pay for art. Uhm yeah. You are forced to look at it. ^_~ I wanna show it off! XD It's kinda like asking to turn off pet profiles, or any other feature that is customizable on the site. I can understand shops due to lag n' that. But, again, there are ways you can shop without even visiting the shop to see the layout at all.
It just seems like the ability to take away from everything rather than keeping Subeta fun is what this turn off option is. I know it isn't what it appears to be intending, but... I just can't support this. Sorry.
I hope that is explained reasonably.

I support it just for the sake of people that like minimalistic or simple stuff. I used to have the default layout for my profile, until my friend made a base that was simple and I could keep it without getting bored.
And yeah, you pay for art/profile and you want to show it off: Realize that not everyone care and not everyone are okay with high cluttered profile either.
Sometimes, I feel assaulted by hyper coloured profiles and it would be amazing to turn them off. But then I'd turn the others off too .. such dilemma.
Again, if you know you have a bad connection, don't visit my profile. I absolutely do NOT support the idea behind this.
As for me FORCING you to look... I'm not holding you at gunpoint and telling you to look at my page. Just the opposite, really, I'm saying, if my profile is going to cause you SUCH a inconvenience, then DON'T GO TO IT. So, no, I'm not FORCING anyone to look at my page. Please, educate yourself on the definition of a word before crying over it, which is what it seems like users here like to do.
Have a great day.

I don't mind this but, like other people pointed out, a huge chunk of profiles will end up blank and/or will not have the desired information because it wasn't there in the first place : /
Currently apostrophes in titles are breaking pagination, so at the moment people are likely to not be able to get to the second/third/etc pages of this! You may want to edit the title, if you can :x
I support this ONLY if it's an optional switch like it is for store layouts. I cannot support this being forced upon everyone. I personally don't mind people's profile layouts - to each their own. I can understand why people may not want profile layouts to show up on people's layouts but I also understand 's side of things re: people spending millions on pretty layouts.

I really do support this. Regarding people buying art and pretty profiles...maybe it's me but I don't think you should buy art just to show it off. It should be something that you like to look at. I mean it's great if you have art you're proud of and you want to show it off, but you shouldn't force people to look at it if they have a reason for being on your profile (even though there are workarounds, they can be more of a hassle, like trying to comment someone for instance).
I would be for this idea. I love the art on my profile and spent monies and time helping to make it so do I want people to see it? Yes. Do I want to also be able to easily find other people's stuff on their profile? Yes.
And these two things can be conflicting. If it can be enabled and disabled then it would be perfect. Art for those who want to see it, normal profiles for those who want to see normal profiles. :)
For Vesnali that would be nice, though I personally have not had an issue with giving flowers. Although I have some friends who opted not to have that widget on their profile at all. Which is also something we are able to choose-whether or not we participate. SO it would also be prudent that even with a streamlined (site set) profile that those options still be available.
Having something to click on the forum to give a flower seems the easiest method.
i think it would be a better idea to add a "flower" link on the forum under the avatar, like with dancing and kissing (same could be done for the Morostide options). that way it's always in the same place and the lag would get better, since that means opening less pages. i agree that sometimes finding the flower link on the profile is a pain in the neck, and on slower computers the heavier profiles may be slow to load.
that said, i'm not comfortable with the idea of other people going onto my profile and not seeing my custom profiles. i like my profile to be pretty and i spend time on making them so, i wouldn't want people to go there see it all stripped bare.
