So have we gone from a 'good cover songs' thread to a 'punk/emo bands (idk really, I don't listen to them) covering shitty rap songs' thread? w/e.
Also, if you've never heard the Deftones' cover of "The Chauffer" by Duran Duran you are incomplete inside, I don't care who you are.
(imo those 'punk goes x' albums are horrible pieces of trash that shouldn't even be called music. musically incapable leading the musically incapable.)
Placebo's cover of Bigmouth Strikes Again.
and they also did an awesome cover of fleetwood mac's "everywhere". :'D linkage.
30 Seconds To Mar's cover of Kanye West's 'Stronger'. It's amazing.
Kanye West's version is also a cover. The original is by Daft Punk.
Also: VITAMIN STRING QUARTET! Oh, my god. I love their 'tributes'.
How could I have forgotten one of my favourite songs?!
Nightwish's cover of High Hopes
I second both the Placebo covers- 'Running Up That Hill' by Kate Bush and 'Bigmouth Strikes Again' by the Smiths...their cover of 'Johnny and Mary' by Robert Palmer is amazing too 0:
I'm going to massively have to disagree, mostly because I ADORE Pink Floyd and the idea of a remake is just ... wrong... It's not a bad song, but ... not remake material. Plus, MOST Pink Floyd albums are a story, and I don't think Nightwish could get away with redoing the entire Division Bell album without 'seriously' slaughtering their career. So, no... never remake Pink Floyd.
MOST remakes suck. You're lucky if the remake is at least nearly as good as the original, cases in point "Such Great Heights from The Postal Service and then Iron & Wine, as well as "The Joker" first by Steve Miller Band, with one GOOD cover by k. d. lang and one AWFUL cover by Fatboy Slim
Only one that I can think of is actually better than the original.
Bob Dylan 's original Baby Blue, while good (As I like e some Dylan.) can not compare to the 13th Floor Elevators remake. It rocks my soul.
O and if the pop version sucks, chances are a punk version will only be worse.
collecting The Berzerker's cover of All The Things She Said
IT IS EPIC.
Atreyu's cover of Bon Jovi's You Give Love a Bad Name is just awesome. So is Lily Allen doing Naive originally by uh.. The Kooks? Correct me if I'm wrong. x3
Remember April 20th, 2011 when we thought the world might end, when the PSN was down? These guys do. Reminisce those horrible days, the catastrophic events! The homeless men! ...And, is that water orange?
any punk band that cover blitzkrieg bop is awsome.
take on me by Reel big fish is wicked too
Oh!!! Marilyn Manson's cover of Tainted Love.
LOVE IT. ❤
OH another one;
children of bodom's cover of... wait for it...
...
OOPS I DID IT AGAIN! :D i rofl'd XDD
I love Bowling For Soup's version of Hit Me Baby One More Time and Goodnight Nurse's Milkshake. Pop songs turned rock = awesome. :D
