so i'm in environmental education and we have a shit ton of animals in the classroom, five of them being snakes. so we have feeder/breeder rats and mice that pretty much just fuck, have babies to feed to the animals, and eat.

well, a mouse just had babies today and i go into the back room where they're at because i wanna hold my little baby rat that i play with everyday. upon realizing that my teacher had recently fed my baby rat (that i played with since it was born!) to one of the snakes, i cry a little (lolnotrly), and then i look at the mice babies.

mice babies are already ugly to begin with (click here to see one~ they're usually pinker) but then i noticed that one of the other female mice in the cage had something pink in its mouth. upon further investigation i notice that this little cannibalistic bastard is eating one of the babies. it had already ripped it in half and there was blood all over the aspen in the cage. it was so gross. and what's worse, another little mouse comes over and starts playing tug-o-war with it. IT LOOKED LIKE PINK BEEF JERKY.

so we took the cannibalistic one and fed it to the snake. KARMA'S A BITCH.

Eww, that's a little...gross. I've never had a mouse, nor have I known anyone who has so I wouldn't know if that was normal or if that mouse was just insane.

Yeah, mice and rats eat their babies sometimes if they're stressed out. My mom's rat had a litter of pups once. Luckily we left her alone and gave her all her favorite foods and she didn't eat any of the babies. :P

I could never EVER do that course. I'd have to go on a rescue mission and save all the rats and mice. That's totally gross though. I'd have done more than puked a little inside my mouth, it would have gone all over the floor.
