My parents asked me what I wanted for my birthday this year where I'll be turning the big 21 and I said....
NEW GRAPHICS TABLET PLZ K THX :D
But I'm not sure which one I want. I've narrowed it down to the Intuos and the Bamboo.
I've heard there are problems with the bamboo dropping in and out like its bipolar (not my words lol)
The intuos is a lot more expensive but is it worth the extra?
I am currently using my 6 year old wacom graphire 3 so I think I'm due for an upgrade :3
What I really want to get out of this board is opinions from people who have used either or both of these tablets and their thoughts on them and recommendations :)
Thanks guys ^^
[edit]
Like holy cow my mothers talking about getting me a Wacom Cintiq!!! D= omgomgomg drools just thinking about it
But yes if i cant get the cintique i will totally get the intuos 4
I owned a bamboo first generation for a good year or so. Yeah it did become crazy as hell in wanting to know what exactly wants. Then it finally spazzed out within a year of its life. XD WORST TABLET EVER. The buttons were really sensitive and I work with Opencanvas so if I press a button BAM pressure sensitivity gone or something weird and wacky happened.
On my birthday a couple weeks ago I was going to get a bamboo again because its cheep and easy like a hooker and its satisfaction quick.
But my dad convinced me to get a intruos. And the heavens opened and I saw the light for the first time. No more sensitive buttons. Infact the wheel is so workable for switching things over its a dream come true. and NIBS..THERE ARE A BILLION NIBS :D <3
I got the small and its smaller workspace what I am used to but the sensitivity on that is so great that I hardly remember having a larger tablet space from my bamboo and my Graphics tablets.
Get the Intruos its good.
Thank you for that :D Definately thinking the bamboo is NOT the way to go. 2nd time I've heard of it messing up and thats something I definately don't want D:
Which model of the intuos do you have?
Intruos 4 its the newest one that came out. So at bestbuy or somewhere like that should have it on them. Its not like the rare cintiq (would sell my SOUL)
XD
but your very welcome.
bestbuy? dont think we have that here. ^^' I'm from aussie.
I was looking at staticice.com.au
WACOM Intuos 4 Graphics Tablet 4x6 SMALL Model: PTK-440/KO-C $299
Oh god i saw those cintiq D: mops drool off keyboard yes.... to DIE FOR....
I got my intuos3 for $199+tax at CircuitCity or BestBuy like a couple years ago during xmas. That was my first tablet e_e I felt the pen were way too sensitive cause even if you use a bit of pressure your line's darkened like easily.
Intuos4 apparently is a new upgrade to intuos so maybe it's better. But uh, I'm not sure if I want to use my intuos again soon. (It's back at home; I was using Graphire3, now I'm borrowing my friend's Graphire4).
If you think graphire/bamboo are the only ones that have the pressure sensitivity problems, you're mistaken. I had that problem on my intuos too. Had to close down photoshop, and replug.
:p
Intuos 3 4x6. I want an intuos4, though. they're so sexy.
i have an intuos 3, love it. I had an old wacom from age ten to sixteen and it still worked perfectly when my parents bought me a new one for my birthday. it was just old, is all. P: so yeah I'd suggest an intuos because they last long so long as you treat them right.

I have a Wacom Bamboo Fun Tablet, I have no problems with it, but I don't know much, you should probably listen to the others xD
The intuos is better if you're looking to draw full on artwork and that's the one that's industry standard. The bamboo is good if you're just looking to see how a tablet works, but the intuos is the one that's usually used by professional artists.
Both my graphire and intuos work fine and I got my graphire in 2003. I've switched to an intuos since then, but seriously.. get an intuos.
Oh and cintiqs are awesome or from what I've seen of my art friends who have them they're awesome.
Thank you everyone!!
This is so much help to me ^^ I really appreciate it!! I definately want a Intuos4 thank you for confirming it for me :)
Now i really really want a cintiq but definately can't afford it XD
hahaha, I told the same to my mum, my birthday is in juny 14 and i say wacom .-. and say say INTUOS because my cousin bamboo get damage u.u and you can found information here ;D
mmm.. I just found Intuos 3 there, but i dont know.. I think is the same 4 and 3, what the diference ._.?
Latest update:--
Lols mum might get me a cintiq.
Dad isn't keen on the idea.
But theres hope! OMG THERES HOPE!
The 21wx videos look so much more impressive but this is probably what i'd get if my mum can work out a way money wise. Omg I freaking love my mum.
well, I use intuos and I absolutely love it. I've never used a bamboo, but in the least I can back up the intuos
it costs more, but it's very durable and reliable

Sorry to burst your bubble. x: Cintiq isn't as easy as some people thought it would be to work on. The screen heats up realllly easily and there's a slight lag between the strokes. (I drew on the Cintiq at our school during the summer)
ack serious? =( aww thats so disapointing.
Dont suppose it could just be because it was used for quite a while and was wearing out fast and miss treated because it was a sort of public thing?
Uh no I really highly doubt it. I only found out about it because one of my friend in my faculty knew about it. As far as I know, not many people know about it because it's in the basement floor of a building. So unless you were specifically looking for it, you wouldn't stumble upon it.
The comps there are really new same goes for the tablets. (They also had 9x12 wacom intuos there). But uh I asked around, but apparently I was one of the first people to use the cintiq so yeah. The screen heating up really bothers me because it meant I can't really rest my hand on it comfortably. That and the slight lag bugged me to hell. I think you're better off when an actual tablet instead of a cintiq.
