Both Deli and your ideas are basically what any reasonable, logical person would do. No problem. That, and in conjunction with the pricing forum, should allow you to get a good estimate on your art. The forum does have it flaws (relying on the lazy artists who know what the market is like to price) but if we didn't have it, there would be a massive amount of threads created in the other art forums about pricing. People need a place to get their ego stroked! o:

Prices for art on this site aren't that bad compare to gaia. I about shit when someone bid 170k on my art there. And paid me that for it. ...That's like the equivalent of 100mill here to me. falls over

But see, I'm not saying that I'm not encouraging OPINIONS. No, not all all. It's kinda confusing.

But think about it. The person could have said something along the lines of, ''Thanks for your opinion. Does anyone else have a suggestion?'', rather than acting like the opinion of one user doesn't matter at all. That makes the OP of that thread look like an ass.

Personally I avoid the art forums at all costs. I simply can't dish out 5 million for a half-assed, non-colored sketch of my HA, which is what I've seen a lot of artists expect. On the other hand, if people ARE willing to pay that much, it's the artist's right to do so and complaining about it won't do much.

I think a lot of people are really misunderstanding the OP and attacking her over just voicing her opinion. I don't think she came off as bitchy at all, and I can understand her frustration over most art in the art forums being overpriced. Face it- art isn't affordable on Subeta (for the most part), and as long as people keep buying at ridiculous prices, it's not really going to get any better.

I'd say there are probably three types of people in that forum People that actually want help People that want their ego stroked and people that just want lots of SP because they dont want to do wizard quests

Just going there kind of aggravates me when I see someone going "OMG THIS DESERVES 12 MIL ITS BEAUTIFUL" and their faces are so dis proportioned it looks like they have a terminal disease. o _o but thats just me thinking like that apparently.

I guess I'm in the minority here, because I personally hate it with a particular seething rage when people ask for prices, then mention their old prices, or what they have been paid in the past.

I guess my general thought process is "I don't give a shit. That was them, this is me. Shut up and make with the links." Former prices could not be more irrelevant when asking for current prices, or for prices on a new style/product.

Generally, when I see someone mention their former price, I read it as them wanting people to come along and say "WOW, ONLY 1 MIL? YOU SHOULD BE CHARGING BILLIONS FOR YOUR SWEET ANIMU SHIT".

(Note: I do not have the same feelings when they phrase it akin to "I was wondering if anyone had any pricing suggestions? I have been doing a bit of my own research about similar work, and I was thinking that 1 mil would be a fair price. Does that sound right?")

I think 1 million is more than fair for a headshot as long as it is not utter crap. ! mil is half my daily 'wage' here if I really put no effort in at all. On Gaia I make around 5k a day with a similar amount of effort but you would be VERY hard pressed there to find headshot art for 2.5k.

I see absolutely NO reason to mention your old prices in the Pricing forum. If you've sold similar art before then you should be able to gauge your pricing this time by how well your art sold for that price previously. If you're not selling similar art then you previous prices count for fuck all.
