I do sort of judge HA but I know those people behind them probably are nothing like what the project. I usually do cute type avatars, but I'll do ones with lots of color and some mean/bloody ones. I do see how people can get a 'general' personality from one though. The bloody type ones I do goes with me liking horror movies. Or me doing different colored hair (like now), I just really love colored hair and wish I had the guts to do my own hair. XD But I would never think someone is 'stupid' because of how their HA is; however, you can get an impression of sorts.

I seen a couple comments of CHIC members. Not all the members make great HA's. I've seen some that I really don't like, so whatever on that. And the comment about well coordinated with color, artists have a great eye for color but in real life I have seen many who look not very well put together. But who cares. :P

It's not. My rant is based on an issue I've seen in the forums - people thinking that they can assume what someone’s personality is like based on some pixels. If you make a Japanese style avatar you're a weeaboo. If your HA isn't fashionable YOU'RE not fashionable. If you're wearing cheap items you're a n00b. It's quite sad because some people are judging others because of this when they could just as easily find out what they're like by exchanging a few Smails or something.

Like I said before, this rant isn't based on something that has happened to me. So far nobody has been judging me based on my avatars. Yes, people have been saying they don't like them but that isn't the same. People have that right to say that my avatar is sucky. I like them, that's all that matters. But if someone I didn't know came up to me and started assuming things about my life and personality, without actually knowing me, that would be different. I probably wouldn't be so bothered about it. But other people would. I realise that a lot of people should just suck it up and get a thicker skin but it's not that easy and I do feel sorry for them. It's not nice to be pre-judged.

See, that’s what I find so bizarre. How can you decide that a person is a troll by their avatar? I know that there are other factors but I don’t think an avatar should count. When I was new I had a low post count. I also had a really crappy avatar. Does that mean people took a look at my avatar and assumed that I was a troll? I just don’t get how a few pixels can make a person decide something like that.

Exactly. While someone assuming you’re a boy just because your HA is a boy isn’t quite as hurtful as being labelled a troll or a n00b or a weeaboo it still fits the same mould and it furthers my point that sometimes people place way too much emphasis on a person’s avatar and uses it to judge.

I think you can tell a lot from the persons HA

Al HA's are the same. They're all slim, are sort of genderless, have the same shoe size and they've got all the same height. I don't think you really can tell a lot from the HA, you only decide what it wears and not the rest. [skin quality, height, weight, boobies, shoe size for example] Though I must say we can do a lot with our HA's now, I don't think you can judge a person's personality by how it's dressed.

And to add: My HAs are so much different from my personality. My HAs are more my Subeta style, but not in anyway personality.

Whenever I see someone with a messed up HA I can't help but think 'Awwwww they're new (to the HA system)'. Or I just figure they are more into battling/art/coding or whatever :)

[edit] I forgot to add that I agree with Selphie. I don't think HAs have anything to do with someone's personality, nor should they be a reason to think low of someone...

People judging you on what you wear and how you choose to present yourself in real life is one thing.

The only thing human avatars say about people, is that users who judge others personality by them are the ones who take this too seriously. You can't derive nothing more from human avatars, except obviously their "fashion sense", but only this if someone is actually trying to be presentable.

People judge people by the way they look. It's a fact of life. People are usually attracted to talking to people that dress the way they do. I think a lot of people on Subeta are like that. People who spend a lot of time on their HAs seem to talk mostly to people who also have really nice looking HAs.

I agree I'm somewhat guilty of this. Having a mismatched, terribly layered HA just reads 'newbie' to me.

Hopefully though people don't try and judge actual personality/appearance off of the appearance of a HA because... that's just moronic. Everytime I see a cliche zombie-vampire-dragon-princess HA it would be stupid for me to assume that person is in RL a dragon princess or whatever. Just like how I use a male HA when I am in fact female.

ahahahahaha when i see a bad avatar i generally dont want to talk to the person. if it is really cute i think they are funny and nice. if it is just super amazing and complex i am ultra jealous and want to be like them. and if it is just plain, not bad not good, i have pretty much no opinion. but i am like this in real life too. am i bad?

I don't usually judge people by their avatars, with the exception of people that care to wear only two or three pieces of clothing, usually lacking shoes. I think that they or are new on the site, or don't like shoes at all, or prefer to dedicate their SP to pets than to the human avatar thingies.

I usually go by the shoe-hater assumption, though. I'm a meanie. :(

Honestly, I try not to judge other users based upon their avatars, since I realize they don't represent a good for judgment. A person's avatar is just something that makes their post interesting to look at. Many times my avatar isn't a reflection of my personality at all, but rather just whatever I felt like wearing at the moment. Sometimes I'll do rather scary looking avatars, like the ones from my zombie days, other times I'll just go out on a whim.

Dude I fucking wish I could be as cool as some of my HAs, or at least have some of the clothes. grabby hands at the geargles/pirote jacket

But yeah, it's like on neo when people wouldn't take you seriously unless you had pets with expensive paint jobs. Immaturity runs rampant in every aspect of life. Ya just gotta deal with it.
