That's dollar store customers for you.
There are people who scream at their kids throughout the store, and people that argue with their significant other loud enough that you can hear them from the back of the store and over the air conditioning system.
But most people around here hold doors for others, so that's not much of a problem.
I agree, common courtesy is pretty much non-existent in today's society.
I am embarrassed for my generation as well... my classmates have no morals or respect for anything whatsoever.

There are rude, inconsiderate jerks of all ages, it's not just the kids. The only thing we can do is try to lead by example, always use the rules of respect and courtesy whenever possible and when it's your turn, teach your kids so they do the same.
Ugh! That's rude. I would've helped the lady get in the store :x
I hear stuff about ''questionable reputation'' all the time. No one else wants to hear it, so they should keep that to themselves.
Holy crap. o.o Some people are just ignorant. I doubt it's just our generation, but it really feels like some of our peers have escalated us into ignorant brats. That's seriously pathetic. And anyways, if they didn't want to help the old lady out, they could've held the door open for her so that they could get into the store quicker...o__o
I help people all the time when they need it. I talk to them and let them tell me things, and help them with their bags, and so on. Just because it's a polite thing to do.
We have really horrible and slightly evil people in England. Everyone is so self-centered and bitchy... It's just stupid.
I think people need to be taught a lesson in respect, and then then need a good thump on the back of their legs, really. D':
I work with the public, and was also brought up by a fairly rich father.
The first enables me to strike up conversations with strangers, the second gives me super-manners. :D
Holding open doors is second-nature to me, even when I'm in a hurry. It's just, I've been hit with doors enough times, why would I want to wish that upon someone else? And also, a lot of women don't know what to do with their young children when they themselves need to use the restroom. A lot of times, I notice this and ask if they want me to watch their kids.
I hang with the kids and watch the shark tank until their mothers return, and they are so greatful.
I'd have to agree, manners are few and far between these days.
I quite agree. I've seen many people, adults and kids alike, who are quite rude, inconsiderate, self, and greedy. My own mother, if you can call her that, was one of them!
But, my bloody crap. Are you kidding me? I guess things like this shouldn't surprise me since they're so frequent, but, seriously. What on earth are those kids' problems? That really angers me. The world just seems to be a very apathetic place. People don't care. They don't care if you have issues, or disabilities, or, they don't even care if you're just having a bad day and need someone to talk to. That is why I hate most humans. Our race just plain out sucks sometimes, and I'm ashamed to BE a human. But our race is good sometimes, too.

Oh good lordy. One of my biggest pet peeves--people who are so caught up in their sex life that they don't hesitate to broadcast it to the entire world, but completely ignore the needs of others. -.-
And I do agree that it's just teens; it's people in general. But I can't say I blame any one generation because, well, as stated before, people are people, and some are just downright incosiderate. At the same time, though, there are plenty of people who want to better themselves and set good examples. It's imporant to remember that was well, even as you shake your head at those girls' terrible behavior. =D
...
What I don't like is this generation's idea of 'you need to earn respect' when a certain level of respect should ALREADY be given.
It's not really dead.. more endangered. I once saw this older woman struggling with separating two garbage bins from each other in Target. Her teenage daughter was just standing there, not even helping her mother. I went up and took a good 10 minutes to help get them separated. While her daughter watched. After we got it done, she thanked me and bluntly stated, "I wish my daughter were more like you." Harsh, but really true.
Is it really so hard to go out of one's way to open a door, or help someone that looks like they are in need of some help?
It's not just a young generation thing either. I see people in their 20's, 30's, and 40's that do not demonstrate any sort of common courtesy for others. What the heck happened to this world? Too many people are so god damn self-involved. :c
Well the important thing is there was some good ... home "coming" .... ;)
Terrible dirty bukkake puns aside, good for you. I would have probably said something to the kids about how they are selfish little shits or something.
collecting Dude, that's horrid. D8 Because, you know, giving a blow job to some guy who doesn't like your personality anyways and just wants is for pleasure is much more important then helping a elderly human being who is trying to get though a door. iedurjfghieg. :C I normally try to be kind with that... If I am going out of a store and whatnot, and someone is behind me, I try to keep the door open, ect. And then I buy stuff, like... erm, a giftstore were you ask what you want and whatnot, I normally try to remember "please" and "thankyou, I hope you have a good day!"
Hopfully karma comes around and bites them in the ass. D;
That's what you call propaganda, that whole "inspirational commercials" deal. Propaganda may last for... a minute. And then people are back to that "whatever, I don't care" mode, you know? All television commercials are made of the stuff.

It /is/ dead.
So is chivalry -however you spell it.
I've been raised around older people almost my entire life and have learn that they need more help than most anyone else. If I see someone like that, I'll go outta my way to help them no question about it.
Sometimes they offer you money because of it too, and I alway refuse...
Once, an older man couldn't get a bbq pit in the back of his truck, so I asked him if I could get my boyfriend to help and he offered him 20 dollars for it. Which he refused.
It's just something I feel obligated to do because they're older and have trouble doing things that us 'kids' can do easily.
I love watching people struggle. Because they'd do the same thing. Even if they look helpless now they're just as horrible as anyone else. The good news is, we're all gonna die.
