My teeth are currently in braces,so I definetly understand the pain that is happening to you.I've only had one cavity, and my dentist shot me up with so much novacaine,my mouth was numb until the next day.I kept saying it hurt when they were drilling,so they gave me like 8 shots. It turns out my bottom tooth was pressing down on the drill as it was happening.

Ouch. Maybe they didn't seal the filling correctly or they did something wrong where the gap isn't completely filled. I have several cavities and they've always been really sensitive to heat/coolness when it comes to foods and drinks. I don't think there's any way to fix that though, it's just something you have to live with.

Try calling in to your Dentist ASAP though to see if it's a problem that can be solved, or if he did something wrong.

Personally I feel your pain, dentists scare the shit out of me. I have to get my wisdom teeth pulled this summer and I'm absolutely terrified. Something about being put to sleep while a stranger pulls out my teeth is just... eh. Not a very attractive concept.

I get a lot of cavities, and I've been getting 1-4 fillings every time I visit the dentist ever since my adult teeth grew in. Usually the cavities are painful beforehand, but often I don't notice them at all, and I've never been able to see them. The dentist uses special equipment for that.

One filling I got hurt for about a month, but it did eventually get better. If the pain isn't excruciating, I say wait at least that long. Your dentist probably knows what he/she is doing, seeing that they are a trained professional.

jesus christ, it's a postformat. you don't need to be a fucking prick about it : so anyways, tried calling a couple of other times, and she still wont fix it. cause the pain 'will go away' I'm thinking about going to a new dentist, the one my brother goes to, even though its like and hour and a half away. -.-

tbh, i think you sound kind of ignorant.

just because you don't feel a pain doesn't necessarily mean that there's not a cavity. i had a cavity and it didn't hurt at all, but the x-rays proved that i did have a cavity.

if the pain is as bad as you make it out to be, ask your mom to see another dentist or something.

whether I actually had a cavity or not is whatever, my point is that she messed up my toothed even more.

tbh, i think you sound kind of ignorant. I'm pretty sure that I know I should get a new dentist, since I just said so in my last post, and since everyone else has also reitterated it in their own posts.

go to a different dentist and get another opinion.

a long time ago my mother went to a dentist that kept doing all this work on her, which she actually didnt need. he ended up screwing up her teeth permanently.

right now, our dentist is my aunts boss (shes a dental hygienist). so im pretty confident he wont screw us over.

I've been going to the same dentist forever basically, since I was a little kid, so I trust her a lot. She fills my cavities and makes my tooth aches go away. :D

Sorry your dentist seems like she doesn't care. I'm sure there's someone else who will take better care of you.

I went to the dentist a few days just for a cleaning. She sliced my gum by accident with one of those plaque scraping tools ;___; I could feel it and since cleaning generally makes you wash your mouth out only a little at a time, I could feel the blood pooling in my mouth since I refused to swallow it.

Go to another dentist... All you'll be doing is keep wasting your money on someone who f'ed up your teeth if you keep calling to make an appointment.

Wow, it really sucks to read everyone's stories on here. Most of them are awful to think about, and my story is no different. I also had a horrible experience at the dentist, when I was 13 or 14. Some arabic guy or something, who kept speaking his own language to his assistant there. He gave me like 8 shots of novacain or so (which is bad enough as it is, since needles are my biggest fear), and I complained that my mouth wasn't numb. He said he couldn't give me anymore, and went to work on my teeth anyways.

By the end I was literally screaming, and he looks at me with a smart-ass look and says in his fucking accent, "Oh, it does hurt you, yes? Almost done." DRILL I never went back to the dentist until just this year. I'm 23 now. And I'm ashamed to admit I was sobbing before I even got called into the back room. The dentist lady seemed nice and sympathetic, kept telling me not to cry, wiping away my tears, but it was just like an uncontrollable reaction. She didn't even do anything but LOOK at my teeth. I have many, many cavities, and need a root canal. The right side of my mouth hurts as I type this.

I've called many different dentists. I wanted to find a kind, understanding dentist who could put me under gas, or even better, sedation (since as I previously stated, needles scare the shit out of me). The only dentists who offer what I'm looking for, of course, do not take medicaid. I'm on a very fixed income (who isn't these days) and cannot afford anything out of pocket. I can't even scrape up twenty spare dollars the day after I get my paycheck.

So I guess I'm screwed, for the most part. No one takes medicaid and I can't pay for any services I want out of pocket. I even called Medicaid themselves, and talked with a few people there, but mostly they told me there was nothing more they could offer or do besides send me a list of dentists, which I already had and called and.. etc. Ugh.

Sorry this turned out to be a novel. This post just kind of set something off in me I had to share. I hope everyone out there can find a good, responsible, and kind dentist to look after them and their teeth, and not someone just in it for the money or someone who clearly has no idea of what they're doing.

Good luck, everybody.

You should go to a different dentist. You might just wind up paying her to screw up your teeth some more.

Just a note to the OP- If you do go to a new dentist, you might want to ask for a different kind of filling. I had a similar experience to you the last time that I had a cavity filled. My dentist put one of those white fillings in, and every time I used that tooth to chew, it hurt. It turns out that I'm sensitive to that type of filling, so she replaced it with a mercury filling, and it's been fine ever since. That might be the problem that you're facing.
