In the event you count in assests, you would merely use the value of the items' current value, and add it to your current sp.
As for pets, I think since the colour isn't resellable, it shouldn't be counted. That money is gone now.
About the account age thing, I think it is not very accurate since some older users might not log on very often. And some new users might be on subeta every day. In this case the younger ones actually have more experience. I guess we should count how much time people stay active on subeta. But it's hard to measure. Hmmm...maybe the pageview could be a factor.

I actually disagree with your point because those items that people spend a fortune on ARE status symbols. People in real life with disposable incomes buy items such as cars, expensive watches, and private planes. Plus with supply and demand, you can get money for the items. Like insurance on a rare art piece.
Nope, I think that unless the assets are there to be resold in the future, sP is the only factor that should be counted.
And I think most people's classification of "upper" (providing we only use the tags Scarsdale stated) at 150m is a bit lower, probably more inclined to agree with Aline.
This is about right, but I think they should be shifted lower, and there should be another tier of riche$.
I disagree. In other words, don't try and tell me my 20 pet slots and my aeanoids don't contribute to my socioeconomic status. They're visible evidence that I've either spent a shitton of real money on the site or worked my arse off for sP.
My sP count remains firmly middle-class by every standard suggested in this thread, but even though I post the amount regularly in the 200mil challenge thread, no one but me knows for certain I'm not lying. My pets, my plushie and beanbag collections, my galleries, those are proof for anyone interested enough to look that I have had a decent amount of sP pass through my account.
You would have to add in the value of any items you had on hand. With the sp that many users seem to throw around I'd say those totals are on the low side. We would need a Subeta Trump tier for all of the users who can afford to delete an Ether :D
Serious Telenine Collector at work!
I'd be what? Nouveau riche? Since it's not purely economical factors that matter, somehow other class markings would have to apply. Say, culture (which would have to differ between the tiers) connections, method of earning income, stuff like that.
Nouveau riche would make me high on money and low on upper class culture... Whatever that might be on subeta! I'm still fairly sure I don't have it :P
(It does imply that inherited funds exist here which is pretty dumb)
..I sort of think it's not applicable online :P
THEY CAN'T BREAK YOU IF YOU DON'T HAVE A SPINE
Lol you kinda look like nouveau riche xD
Somehow I feel like post count should be factored into this as well.
Lower class = 5 mil or less sP, account one year old or younger, post count 1000 or less, no Gold Account Middle class = 5-30 mil sP, account one to two years old, post count 1000-2000, might have a Gold Account Upper middle class = 30-100 mil sP, account two to three years old, post count 2000-5000, Gold Account Upper class = 100mil or more sP, account three years old or older, post count over 5000, Gold Account
Just a guesstimate of sorts :/ Under this system, I would be in the higher third of the upper-middle class. (Ish. My account is 3 1/2 years old.)
Not sure about factoring in pets and pet colours into this; maybe certain species or colours could mean higher status. (I know I spent a shitton of money on colouring my pets, especially Paragon. His combo cost almost 20 mil :o )
I think there are so many factors in this that it's really hard to determine.
Some people just prefer not to hoard their sP so that may really affect what class they are in according to some peoples' standards. Now if these people who spend their sP sell some of their wardrobe items or other item hoards their sP level may bring them way up in sP.
I agree with @. Post count as well as sps need to be taken into account.
I usually think of people who have high post count as being higher-class/more prestigious/well-known/that kinda stuff. (Which makes me wonder, do people recognise ME when I go around to different forum areas? o_O That'd be cool xD ) So, like, or are high-profile people in my mind just 'cos of their stupidly high post count xD
No way these're all family jewels man.
I dunno if post count should matter though? I mean it obviously makes you more visible but I don't think it should affect your socioeconomic status. It's just how much you talk :/ I'd imagine it exists in every class.
edit: plural s is your friend too kafka.

As for my opinion about the ranges, I think that account age should play some role in your class, but I don't think it should determine your class. I also think in order to keep it more level, the class should be based off of a points system, that way the age can be included without being the sole factor of which class you belong in.
How Points are Awarded: 1 point for every 1 million sP 1 Point for every 150 posts 1 Point for every 15 achievements 1 Point for every 25 plushies/beanbags/trading cards 1 Point for each month you are on Subeta (ie: 2 years = 24 pts) 2 Points for every painted pet 2 Points for every 100 items in a Gallery 3 Points for every 100 items in a wardrobe
Class Rankings: Lower Class: 50 points or lower Middle Class: 51-100 points Upper Middle Class: 101-175 points Upper Class: 176 points or more
