last year my mom gave me a gift card but she didnt put any money on it. It turns out it was a gift for me to put money on it and give as a gift to someone else.
This is so funny reading your best and worst gifts. I don't think I had a gift better thant the others. I always appreciate that people give me useless things. But, I think the worst gift was last year. We were supposed to do the Mysterious Sender with our classmates. We were meant to spend around 10€ each. I received a Lisa Simpson figurine with written Quick under her feet. And the figurine was so dirty... The person who gave me that probably had it for free when he went eating to the fast food Quick.
My best gift was (is cuz I'm getting it this year) a new laptop. The one I wanted was really expensive so I was really surprised that my mom agreed to it, even though it's my only gift and it's for my birthday also~
My worst one was one of those fucking...parking...flag things when I was fifteen. the joke was all "hurr hurr hurr anna's getting her license and she sucks at driving hurr hrur hurrr"
i get very upset if someone makes a comment about my driving because I am a damn good driver fuck the haters man.
I have two best gifts.
The first one I'll mention is my DSLR camera. I got it several years ago now, but my dad really threw me for a loop with it. My birthday is in December, so I told him I was going to pool together whatever birthday and Christmas money I got in order to buy myself a camera. He's a retired professional photographer, so I asked him for his help in picking one out. So he did, and showed me several that'd be good for me, and I started saving. That Christmas, he handed me the first present, saying he wanted to get it out of the way early. When I unwrapped it and saw the box, I thought it was a mean joke - like he wrapped up rocks in a camera box or something. When I opened it and actually saw the camera? I started crying. It was amazing. <3
The other best gift is the one my fiance and I just gave to each other. As I mentioned, my birthday is in December. So is his. So, this year we decided to go all out, and instead of giving each other gifts for our birthdays and Christmas, we both saved up for a very nice vacation in the Bahamas. We set it so it was in between our birthdays (we were there from the 9th to the 16th; my birthday is the 1st, and his was yesterday). We spared no expense, did everything we could possibly dream of (including kiss a sealion!), and had an absolutely amazing time. We're already planning for when we'll be going back. =3
As for a worst? I honestly couldn't say. I can't think of anything I could classify as such. My family is amazing at thoughtful gift-giving (whereas I feel terrible in comparison D=), so I don't even think I've ever received any terrible gifts. XD
Best Christmas present: a maple shortbow.
Worst Christmas present: So many to choose from. It might be because I'm difficult, my relatives are clueless, or both! Here is a sampling: a mildewy set of encyclopedias from 1964 (given in 2000?), hand-me-down clothes from my cousin, religious paraphernalia (when I wasn't religious and never had been), stuffed animals (in highschool), a scratchy sweater (I am fairly hot-blooded--I wear coats only rarely and sweaters never), musty books that were clearly leftovers from my great great aunt's estate, and various new books that I wasn't interested in.
The best is the various computers I've gotten over the years. I also really loved the Gameboy Advance I got in 1st grade, I played it to the point of its destruction!
The worst is probably most clothing/accessories I've been given. I'm pretty weird about style and even weirder about accessories so it's not easy to shop for those things for me. I appreciate them nonetheless though.
I can't really pick a best. It's probably a toss up between the computer my boyfriend built me and the time when I was little that my parents saved up to get me a Sega Game Gear. They were both awesome presents. My computer started out life as my boyfriend's computer (he had it for almost a year), but he really put a lot of money into it to upgrade it for me (new everything except soundcard, wireless card, and motherboard I think...I can't really remember) and he built it himself. He even installed a few things he knew I'd like and put my bookmarks on it and everything. And the Game Gear my parents got me; they did that at a time when we really didn't have much money at all. They saved and saved so they could get me it and a bunch of games for it.
The worst I can say without a doubt. My cousins used to buy me those horrible big-ass things of cheap makeup that are like $5 every year. I don't believe in wasting so I'd swatch it all to see if anything was usable. There'd always be one or two things I could repot and use, but then I'd have to throw the rest of it away. Before I learned to repot though I'd have this massive thing of makeup in my cabinet just for one or two eyeshadows that were in it. For a few years there they actually got me the same one every year.
I know it sounds ugly like it was the amount they spent, but that's not it. For $5 you can get something cute from ELF cosmetics, Wet N Wild, or good ol' Bonne Bell. My inner child would love you for that last one. And that's just if you -have- to get makeup for some bizarre reason (like making fun of your little cousin who loves makeup and wants to be a cosmetologist).
I've received many wonderful gifts, some of the highlights are: an absolutely gorgeous sapphire pendant a family who I used to babysit for got me (I still treasure and wear it to this day), when my mom surprised me with tickets to a Hilary Duff concert when I was in middle school, my wedding ring (yeah, I know, kind of obvious but I love it so much), and last (but far from least) my cat Cooper who my mom got for me last year because I feeling lonely because I can't have my dog where I am now.
The worst gift I've ever received: A diet book and a dress 3 sizes too small from my aunt when I was 15 because, in her words, "it was time for me to grow up and start taking my appearance seriously and start acting more feminine." I've had issues with my weight since puberty and during high school I also had extreme self esteem issues from being horribly bullied because of my weight and tomboyish appearance. I remember this "gift" absolutely devastated me and I refused to leave my room for almost a week. To my parent's credit they immediately threw the dress and book at my aunt and told her to get out, my family hasn't exchanged more than a sentence with her since.
My favourite gift ever: a Baby Born doll. I mean, I was never into dolls of any kind. But somehow I loved that one. :D I also always love the gifts my BFF gives me, because well they're from her and they're always kinda cute and funny and put a smile on my face.
As for the worst gift... I don't know. I don't think I ever got a horrible gift, but as a kid I always expected a lot, especially on my birthdays, and then if I got just some candy and maybe a random plushie I was like "...oh. okay."
For some reason I don't really remember anything I've gotten after I became a teenager. I suppose I just get gifted useful, generic things nowadays. o__o
Ugh, my mother is probably the most thoughtful gift giver I know! I am a big fan of dolls and she often still treats me like a little girl and feeds my love for such things. I remember getting my first American Girl when I was seven, and then a hope chest later on I adored! Last year, my grandmother in law gave me pearls for my wedding, which I love, but don't wear too much. Still, it touched me!
My husband and mother in law got me a new laptop for Christmas this year, so that was incredible! <3
As for worst gifts, my father is a terrible gifter and last year, he sent me stale Wal-Mart cookies, and home videos from when I was three years old. The cookies tasted horrible, and I haven't watched the home videos. He also sent my sister the same thing, sadly enough, she was the last born and has maybe one or two scenes in videos. This year he isn't sending me anything because I won't talk to him. 8/ Thankfully.
Worst gift I ever received was not during the holidays but in my birthday party. It was my birthday but the godfather of my sister gave HER a gift instead. It was a beautiful cash machine (toy of course) and you know what I got. An ugly "sort of barbie" doll. It wasn't even barbie, it was a horrible brand one that wasn't even well painted. That really sucked.... I still dislike him for that.

I've received a lot of nice gifts but my favourite was when my moirail remade some panels of homestuck with me inserted as the main character for my birthday. The best part is he normally goes out and spends a ridiculous amount on presents but this didn't cost him a cent and was homemade ❤
My worst gift was when my dad bought a hyper realistic model puppy and sent me a photo of it telling me it was taxidermied. I was flatting and coming home for a break and was terrified it was real. That or the chucky doll he couriered me in an unaddressed package on my 11th birthday.
