Here is some info xD
Thanks. So basically, he's aware and the thing needs heavy lifting work. Good to know.. Because the Home Appliances issue isn't the rare items problem, the items that the quest asks for are all really common. So hopefully he can kick the system again and get it working soon, because those quests are almost undoable as is.
uh, i haven't played on here for several months now, but i came back the other day and was restocking for fun.. and i've noticed the exact same items keep restocking over and over, which i think is also leading to some items not stocking at all. also i am at what appears to be a 20 second cooldown in between purchases. i know that's intended and probably not many people will reach it but uh... it's not fun lol. i guess the answer is probably just touch grass tho. >_>
Interesting, on my end I seem to have no limit. I can buy items as fast as possible.
I am noticing the same as everyone, same things popping up and I'm starting to worry. ~~At least this is helping me get some beanbags/plushies/food items that others are probably sick of restocking. ~~
Edit: nevermind, I have a three second delay now.
Keith, I've noticed the Mystical Magical Celestial Lolly always restocking. It's always there. it restocking twice in 3 min and I feel that it will eventually become worthless like before. I'm not sure if it's supposed to RS twice in 3min, but it does. Just lkke some high end expensive plushies. One is always RSing. A golden slushi
A few things are happening! you are all noticing the new(ish) delay system that was brought over from kumos. for a lot of purchases you'll have no timeout, and that will slowly increase. i'm going to dial this down some over the next few days, I think!
And you're seeing a new system that is pulling items that are frequently asked for in quests, that have little to no stock in user shops. it's explicitly restocking as part of a loop, and if you put those items in your shop i do not think they will drop significantly (but might be wrong, that's why i'm watching the user shop prices)

Minor suggestions / requests: Currently, if i want to see if the cooldown is still in effect + how severe it currently is, I need to go into a shop on the kumos site, hit view all items, and click the "More" button to load the page that would allow to purchase an amount of the item at once. Having it show up as a (de)buff on the regular site would be great, having it show the amount of time remaining until it resets would be even better.
If you're planning to dial it down over the next few days, I'd be in favor of having it ramp up to 5 seconds as it currently does, and then stay there until an hour or two of inactivity. This would still slow down those of us who are able to lurk online for long periods restocking, enabling others without the time penalty to restock in short bursts and get priority on everything when they catch a restock and see rares they want to grab.
Currently, I'd love to restock several hundred cheaper common food items to have sitting around for when I'm in the mood to free trapped minions, but as the system currently is, it's a choice between doing that, and restocking the actual valuable items to put in my shop. On a somewhat related note, a "Buy x amount" from usershops would be really appreciated for lots of other site content as well. :P
As far as the "frequently asked for in quests" issue is concerned, have you considered approaching the problem from the other side? Having quest givers request items weighted towards those that are cheaper for their rarity seems like it would solve the issue over time.
Stickers complete! Beanbags in progress. :)
That's actually how they work! The problem is really that there just aren't enough users to keep a full loop going anymore, and so it chooses items that are highly stocked in user shops... and it just takes it asking for that item 20 times for it to deplete.
If every single quest is going to be achievable (which I still don't think should be the goal, but every one else seems to!) then I'm just going to need to increase the supply.

But Subeta never had problems with the quests?! It's only Kumos' quests that are buggy. And they'll soon be history, right?
Hiya, have been brewing some feedback on restocking. I love restocking and it is what brought me to Subeta in the first place! It has been interesting experiencing the new update. I have really liked some of the recent changes but others feel a bit funky. I'm a newer player and am not a big strategist when it comes to restocking - most of my fun comes from the feeling of treasure-hunting and casually running a shop.
Why I find restocking fun:
Problems with restocking (imo):
What feels good at the moment:
What doesn’t feel good:
I’m missing aspects of the Kumos system (even though it was a shock to me when it first came out), like:
🦋
[Item=Shortbread Pup Cookie] [Item=Scruffles]
The thing is, it never happens on Subeta. The questers in Subeta always ask for reasonably priced items. The problem is with Kumos quests, where they ask for the exact same items, so their prices are inflated
I agree with this part of what wrote, about Kumos. Kumos shop system had some nice improvements, it would be great to see them here too (+full sales history in user shops pretty please)
I don't agree at all. All those Kumos aspects of make restocking easier and shop sorting plus r75-99 abundancy etc. are, what caused the dilemma of worthless rares and missing Kumos quest fodder. And naturally spread over to Subeta.
Restocking has always been a (challenging) part of the game. - Oh, of course I grabbed the opportunity to go out and simply easy-peasy stuff my vault with tons of special items, because I am devoted to being prepared and also need the high rarities for easier fragging as well (in the back of my head thinking "this is not good, this will take a bad ending..."). But were is the excitement of not only spotting but also maybe grabbing a high rarity item in the shops? And then the joy of having snatched something really valuable? All gone, virtually everything near worthless. And no profit to make from it, either. P.S.: over all that time there were a couple of items, that I would have loved to get, which didn't restock at all. Never.
As said before, Subeta never had any problems with questing. I simply point to the many postings of users lamenting all along Kumos' evolution, how much better and more profitable (and easier to use) Subeta quests are.
It always boils down to "never change a running system". Now that Subeta's major deadly virus could be healed, it should simply keep running as before (with maybe SMALL ENHANCEMENTS here and there) and NEW stuff could be added. Don't tamper with existing features that run smoothly (of course by now a little damage has already been inflicted but couild still easily be reversed) and that people are used to and love! Obviously these changes are not for the better!
The argument "I don't have time for restocking" is not valid. A lot of changes made recently involve having to spend much more time and attention on former simple alert/click and go features. I don't have time for playing games. I don't have time for wardrobe. Actually I don't have time to keep posting endless sermons. I have to spend tons more time here than I want/can afford for getting my dailies and questing and restocking done. Priorities.
TLDR: I will probably incorporate a lot of those shop features from Kumos :)
I want to acknowledge the feeling first, the excitement of spotting a high-rarity item in a shop, grabbing it, feeling like you pulled off something valuable. That's a real experience, and I understand why the recent changes feel like they've taken something away. When a system you've played for years shifts, it's not just mechanics that change, it's the feel of the game. That matters and I don't want to brush past it.
But I want to be honest about where I land, because I don't think agreement is always the goal. Understanding each other is.
On restocking: I've never designed it to be hard, and I've never wanted it to be. It's a mechanism we brought over from Neopets for distributing items onto the site, and honestly, it's one I wish I'd reconsidered much earlier. I'd much rather see items come from playing games, completing quests, unique prizes, and achievements — things that reward a wider variety of players and playstyles. The thrill of grabbing a high-rarity in shops is a side effect of that system, not something I set out to build around.
That doesn't make the joy you get from it less real. But it does mean that when I make changes to restocking, I'm not trying to preserve "challenge" as a design goal, because that wasn't the goal I started with.
On quests, I have to gently push back. The forums are full, going back years, of people who've had real problems with questing. In the last 10 years I've made 9,649 changes to the quest files on legacy, and over 2,000 tweaks to prize and request formulas in the database. Quests have always been evolving. If they've felt stable to you, it's because I've been working constantly to keep them that way.
And on time: I do hear you. If there are specific features that used to be simple "click and go" and now feel like they demand more of you, I want to know which ones. I've been taking feedback, and I've incorporated a lot of your feedback. I am not going to change things back.
