yeah, when we did our initial post we assumed that the cooldown was working, and would start at 2 seconds per purchase over 200, as to not punish but to give others a chance at restocking, as we have seen how cutthroat it can be. its clear now that this is actually a pretty major issue and it is disheartening it took so long to be addressed.

saying that, kind of wish this took priority over fishing. also just having onsite correspondence instead of seemingly talking to thin air until staff is poked on discord. while we are not affected by the cooldown as we do not restock and don't spend a lot of time on the site, and even if this isnt working as intended, the fact that so many things seem to be sliding past and leaving the subeta populace in the lurch is leaving a bad taste in our mouth.

wish that there was a roadmap that could be followed and given set expectations on what/if/when things are going to happen on legacy or on kumos. hearing through the grape vine that legacy shops are going to be removed in favour of kumos shops sooner rather than later is just beyond us.

to be honest, the development process of kumos is very confusing. when it first started it seemed as though there was a clear objective, that things would get tackled one at a time, and bringing in users to test alpha features with a constant back and forth from staff. now, however, it feels as though things are being worked on completely randomly, while other features and issues -such as the bot/script issue that is currently ongoing and without reprimand because 'legacy shops will be gone soon anyway'- are left to sit.

meanwhile, the only feedback we get on the status on the site comes through random discord posts in general chat that need to be filtered through the userbase before the main site populace who aren't on the discord even hears about them. even being on the discord isn't enough, since apparently these announcements aren't being officially announced there? just dropped in gen chat, and important and pertinent information is whisked away by chatter. having crucial information on discord is unfair to many users-- discord is blocked in several countries, or requires personal information, such as government ID or facial scanning. not to mention, users who have other users blocked on site will not have the same protections on the discord, opening the door to potential drama or reopening of old wounds, this could be a discouraging factor to join the discord.

we have all these feedback threads on the forums, with staff being pinged constantly, and the same issues being brought up over and over. at this point, it doesn't even seem worth the effort to make posts, or give feedback if its just going to sit stagnant. while we understand this is a skeleton crew with a shoestring budget, it doesn't take money to at least tell users what is happening on the main site itself. there's an announcement forum for a reason, would it really be so much effort to keep everyone in the loop?

we had hope for kumos at first, seeing the collaboration between users and staff during the early quest testing, and having quick feedback from staff, but after the first feedback thread autolocked due to hitting 1k (which in of itself is telling) it seems as though that has completely vanished. we're back to being left in the dark, unsure of when updates will happen, or if something completely different will take the reigns. like fishing.

overall its getting more difficult to stay committed and hopeful. whatever momentum there was at the start seems to have fizzled out. even if things are happening behind the scenes, we never seem to hear about them unless someone is lucky enough to catch a random comment on the discord with some bombshell news.

it's just not a good feeling.

I think the cooldown might be broken? I was away from Subeta for over 2 hours (closer to 5), but it's still listing how many items I bought yesterday and has the time delay before I can buy more. Using Firefox, no extensions on.

Heavyyyy on this. Many of us are long-time users and the lack of communication from staff is beyond frustrating. I can understand that staff is stretched thin but to also reiterate what said: it is free to communicate with us. There is an announcement board. Meanwhile, the problem & bug forum is getting necro'd from issues users had 2+ years ago. There are ongoing issues. And the sentiment of 'don't be mean to staff, they are doing the best we can' isn't helping. users shouldn't have to back down our frustrations (within reason, obviously) in order to be heard. We already feel like we aren't being heard. Do you want users to leave the site?

The cycle of

  • a new random kumos feature that isn't announced is active and users and confused
  • feature breaks
  • someone makes a forum post seeing if anyone else is having the issue
  • staff posts once or twice saying they're working on it

is getting reallllly old. Can't wait to see what 'improvement' is going to be made to TOT on kumos. Not to mention kumos getting clunkier and clunkier with every update.

i guess i just can't really get on board with the premise that:

  1. "online status" should be a factor in what is considered "suspicious behavior." so what if i leave subeta open in a browser tab overnight and then come back the next day to do my quests? that's none of your business. stop spying on me.

  2. mass buying (apart from bot use) needs to be curbed more than it already is. not only are individual items stocked in pretty low quantities (mostly seeing only 1 or 2 at a time right now), the new shops also already have a limit on how many of each item you can buy depending on the item's value/rarity—which is understandable i guess, even if it's a shitty feeling to find an item you could flip for a little profit and simply not having that option because you need it for a quest (or having the same item requested by multiple quests and thus being forced into the more expensive option even though it's still in stock).

  3. "anti-hoarding measures" are the solution to the supposed "hoarding problem"—which, tbh, i still have not seen any info explaining WHY this is an issue in the first place. i mostly see it in the context of recycle beast items—but then the problem isn't the hoarding, it's the gameplay mechanics that incentivize it by making it the only way to get certain items / achievements / whatever. making it harder to buy / acquire / keep a lot of items is attempting to treat the symptom, not the cause.

I agree with a LOT of this thread so far, especially 's comments about communication happening offsite. Which has been an issue for literal years and has only gotten leagues worse with Kumos. I love playing Subeta casually and I've already resigned myself to not interacting with any alpha features due to this frustration, but hearing things like "the legacy shops will be deleted soon" means I can no longer just keep playing like before while I wait for Kumos to become a useable, functioning website. So dismantling legacy while Kumos is in alpha is the route you're going to take? Really? Do you think that will keep the casual players around?

But What said is really really hitting the nail on the head for me personally.

I'd also ask overall what is the ideal version of restocking on the new site? Are we to ONLY do this for quests and not stocking our own shops? I've been here for 20 years and I know a lot of this is "how the site used to be" for me. But I'd like Keith to remember these things weren't maligned for most of Subeta's existence, it is an extremely item-based economy. Part of my joy of playing is sorting my vault of items, giving some items to pets, selling old things I have no use for, keeping tabs on old art as it gets updated, and having a large wardrobe of items to make outfits. Acquiring items is FUN and it's part of the game of Subeta. So with some of the changes to the NPC shops I'm looking at what seems an intentional item scarcity which is actually not nearly as fun to play, especially if we're being curbed for things that seemed perfectly normal for 20 years like restocking.

I mean... just for context here, if completing quests is enough to get your cooldown triggered, what is the ideal user behavior? What are you aiming for? How often are you imagining us restocking in this new economy- are we supposed to be choosing between quests and restocking our own user shops as income? Are new users supposed to start with very little- especially when one of the draws of the site is the massive, extremely beautiful wardrobe? How are they supposed to get items to fill this wardrobe everyone keeps praising? Is reselling and flipping items to be looked down upon now? I'm confused what the end goal is.

It's broken, for sure. I didn't touch Kumos (as a matter of fact, Subeta as well) for 2 1/2 hours, however:

Purchase Cooldown Active

You've made 290 purchases in this session. Your next purchase will have a 10 second wait.

Current delay: 5 seconds | Cooldowns reset after 2 hours of inactivity

I'm pretty sure that it didn't reset for my 5 hours absence between morning and early afternoon, I didn't check. But I can't possibly have bought that many items during my short afternoon time, when I had quested in the morning.

Hi this is me making a rare forum post.

I do agree a lot with Demon. I didn't even know until I looked at this thread that shops are being pulled off of Legacy sooner than later??? That's a detriment to people like me who only use Legacy. I'm not a fan of Kumos's layout at the moment, and since I heard Kumos is still very glitchy, I've been avoiding using it. I don't want to have to be forced to use the alpha site if I don't want to buy an item for 20k that's only 3k in the main shops. That doesn't seem fair.

And I hate the focus on Discord. I don't like using Discord, especially servers (partially due to harassment, partially due to me not being a mega social person in general); I usually only use it to talk to friends I can't talk to as easily on another site. To hear that a lot of the rare communication is through there is disheartening. I don't want to have to use Discord for updates; can I just hear about updates through the main site? Please? Since, you know, these updates are affecting this site?

I try not to think. It interferes with being nuts.

Shop cooldown reset with new day for me. I'll see, if it has reset again, when I come back. But I hope, the major downtime yesterday nicht was due to the site getting fixed?

Right now wait time inbetween purchases isn't an issue for me, because I play on legacy simultaniously, thus being sufficially entertained during the purchase cool down. Yet, when there will only be Kumos with all quests, it'll become a thing...

I've taken to doing Kumos quests in the mornings (if feasible) and not as the last and sole action of my Subeta day, like the night, when the cooldown was introduced (and at much higher development) and made me quit, because I was not going to sit and wait for 5 minutes, when I actually wanted to be in bed already, lol.

Adding on to another agreement with all the points made. There's quite a few reasons I'm not interested in joining the subeta discord. Especially not after hearing what it's like in there with these bombshell update revelations being just dropped out of nowhere without so much as a whisper on this site (or even the kumos site for that matter) while issues like this one continue to fester without any word on if they're being worked on or not.

I'd already lost motivation to do quests once before, and now literally the only thing keeping me doing them is the free 20csc at the end of the kumos ones. Even that's starting to lose its luster now with how many unresolved issues persist and the chronic lack of communication here on the main site.

Hell, even threads made by the staff don't get a look anymore, not unless somebody on the discord manages to get somebody's attention. Then we get a brief spell of communication followed by radio silence a few days later. It's very much getting old.

Thankfully haven't run into this restock issue myself as of yet but honestly wouldn't be surprised to run into it at this rate. If that happens I think that'd be the last nail in the coffin for my motivation to continue testing kumos.

I'd also love clarification if we can get it, if the cooldown only resets after we've stopped restocking or if we need to get offline completely.

I only discovered this today: What is the "Base Price" as opposed to what the shop actually charges, which is more?

Sunday the cool down definitely reset during "activities" - I came back for fishing. Today, after having come online again and restocking in the morning, the wait time has NOT reset after more than 2 hours (also only fishing inbetween).
