I don't currently have a lot of specific suggestions, I'm mostly just watching to see how it turns out. I do have two major takeaways, though:
I'm aware that this seems to be the opposite opinion of many players, but I thought I'd chime in as a less active, more casual player. (At least I am nowadays.)
If I don't keep up my reputation with certain NPCs and they become involved in a big sitewide event, am I going to be left out of the action? Am I going to have to choose just a few NPCs to be friends with, therefore locking me out of others? When those I'm not friends with get big updates, will I just have to suck it up and trade with other players, or will I get a chance to work my way up to it?
I'm not necessarily asking for answers, just highlighting them as concerns I had while reading through.
(Apologies if this posts twice, I ran into an error the first time.)
How come everytime I click post reply, the comment does not go through?

Why do I keep getting this partial response screen and the comments don't send when you fill in this box - https://imgur.com/N8MZGzt? Why is this happening, I go to page 2 and don't have this issue suddenly.
I am annoyed that Saggi does not reset, hopefully I'm not the only one because it seems unfair to possibly have a leader board system when the quest giver is broken.
Questing is extremely unfriendly on mobile right now, I hope some changes can be made to make it a little better.

(similar to others, sorry if this posts twice, the first time... didn't seem to post? and had a tiny text box. exact same as the user above. Battle I think, though everyone's username just reads "User" so... it's hard to tell)

One quest point for every 5 quests is a tedious grind for a lot of people, especially if they don't have a gold account but the points can be spent in any quest giver's shop. It will be far more tedious having to build up reputation with each quest giver to see all the items in their shop. The first reputation tier for each quest giver is 100 points so that is 20 days for a gold account with 5 quests a day and even longer for an ordinary account with 3 quests a day (all supposing we don't have to quit any quests because the required items have been horrendously inflated or made unbuyable). I'm dreading seeing how many reputation points we need to get to the second reputation tier - will it be 200 and will the required number of quests keep increasing for each tier?
We don't have all the legacy quest givers on Kumos yet although we do have three new ones - Mauve, Maybel and Rumi. Will all the shopkeepers become quest givers along with all the rest of the legacy quest givers? If so, it will be overwhelming trying to build up reputation with all of them but if they all have different buffs and interactions players can choose the ones they are interested in.
I'm still wondering how most players are supposed to see what is in Sarah's quest shop if we can only see all the items by building reputation with her. I have never been able to do her quests because I have always had too much sP.
JACK CARDALE please please please
I'm only here to say that everything on the "Kumos" side of things is way too slow.
Every page load is agonizing. And no, it's not my internet. Every other website, including good old subeta.net, loads just fine.
You can plan all the cool new features you want, but at the end of the day, if it takes too long to load, I'm not interested.
The Kumos questing was painfully slow today so I am very glad there were only 5 quests for each quest giver.
This thread doesn't seem to be very popular but maybe it's because some of it is a bit vague. Perhaps Keith could give us hypothetical examples of the following using the Wizard.
"Coming Soon:
It's been a running joke for years that the Wizard has asked for a lot of underwear and he's even written a novel about it called The Joys of Bra Collecting. Will trading specific items the Wizard desires involve underwear? :) Seriously, though, what kind of special activities, daily interactions and events would we have where the Wizard is concerned? I said hypothetical examples because they needn't be the ones we actually get - it's just to give us players a better idea of what is coming in the future
Have the seasonal items been divvied up between NPCs - and, will there still be rotating seasonal items in the NPC rep. shops or no more seasonal items?
1. What rewards would make you excited to increase reputation with a specific NPC? Pet Slots be it getting one as a reward at a certain point OR "unlocking" them for sP in the Rep. shops Pet Overlay able to upload and assign one w/o paying the csc CSC perhaps this is one way the Morty Cards can be included in the new system? TC Slots MKBs Wearables of course everyone has their own style, but I do love a wearable Boost to things like mass reading can do 2 pets for x# of days vs one The things you've listed, such as exclusive items (soooo many good TC items in quest shops) and boosters to rewards!
2. Which NPCs would you be most interested in building reputation with? It very much depends on what kind of prizes are happening! Alexander (adorable and BOOKS) Wiz (tokens!) Reischen (boost those stats) Quentin and/or Mage (amulets and tomes) Esther, Laure, Emma, Wesley - most likely to have TC items I'd want Generally it's going to be whoever (1) gives the best currency rewards because boosters, (2) has shop items that fit my TCs best which is currently
3. What activities should award reputation points? Quests of course Maybe buying from the NPC's shop (X # of purchases or random - if we want to increase purchases from NPC shops) Maybe defeating the NPC in battle (defeating always gets a point or X# of wins, and battling at all randomly gives one - NPC says "good job kid, you've got spirit and I want to reward that, keep it up") Maybe assign games to certain NPCs too and reward that way? I think people want to earn sP in a fun way and games are more fun than most options. Hand out a 20k - 25k sP reward per win 10x a day and people will play! Then win gets a rep point for that NPC.
4. Are the current progression rates and reward tiers satisfying? I don't have an answer yet! But I'll circle back :)
5. How do you feel about the shop changes from Quest Points to sP? I'll miss my QPs lol, but it makes sense that you're trying to reduce the total number of different currencies. Since we still have the holiday shops (which I hope don't change) using the rep system to unlock items and sP to buy them seems like a reasonable change that will probably make more people happy.
6. Any other ideas or suggestions for this system? Just what I said about games! And pet slots LOL More so about quest rewards but, larger pool of books that Wiz pulls from as rewards
I'm not a big fan of this at all, sorry. This is probably a me problem and I'm not sure if many do relate, but most of the sP I make goes on buying CSC cards because I'm a little obsessed with CWs. Spending real life money to buy CSC is currently not even an option for me due to the cruel exchange rates between USD and the currency used in my country.
If the Quest Shop switches to sP instead, I will be less likely to buy the items, even stuff I want/need, because I will favor buying CSC cards with my earned sP. I rarely buy stuff from the Millionare Center despite having a lot of the items from there wishlisted. I've had a lot of MC items on my WL for years. I'd hate the Quest Shop becoming another Millionare Center.
Sorry for not giving my opinion on the other points, I might do it later. I do feel excited about some of the other things. I just had to type this right now because I'm a little unhappy about this. :c
Now that I've gotten my grumpiness about the speed of the Kumos site off my chest, I can actually focus on the specific feedback about this new quest system.
What rewards would make you excited to increase reputation with a specific NPC?
I think being able to buy items specific to those NPCs would be an interesting perk (think Quest Shop items). It might also be interesting to have some sort of plots, games, activities, places, or storylines that you can unlock as you increase your reputation. These are things that the user base really misses having, but would be really motivating to keep coming on to the site.
Which NPCs would you be most interested in building reputation with?
Wesley and Emma are my top two NPC choices. It would be really neat to have some people be only available seasonally. For example, you can only build reputation with Jaxon during October and you can only build reputation with Skitters during February.
What activities should award reputation points?
I think quests are a solid start. Perhaps restocking items from NPC shops could also increase reputation?
Are the current progression rates and reward tiers satisfying?
I honestly think it depends on the NPC. For example, if The Oracle were to be an NPC that you could build reputation with, her rate would have to be significantly different from The Wizard due to the random nature of her quests.
I can only see the first tier currently, which is either 50 or 100 dependent on the NPC. As a GA user, I think that's reasonable as I can complete that first tier in 10 or 20 days, respectively. With only 5 quests per NPC instead of the current 15, it shouldn't take as long, which means I'll be more likely to complete my quests (as long as the site speeds up).
As for the reward tiers, I cannot speak to that yet.
How do you feel about the shop changes from Quest Points to sP?
Honestly, as first I was a little miffed. Having thought about it though, as long as the items are still available somehow, I actually prefer getting rid of Quest Points. I'm one of those users who could never seem to get enough to purchase all of the items that I need, so I would love another way to get them.
Any other ideas or suggestions for this system?
Nothing I can think of, other than just make the site faster in general.
Given, that the goal is to meet legacy payout with less quests - plus cover costs of quest shop items -, that doesn't work out.
I was just looking over the 'coming soon' activities again, and this one jumped out at me:
I'm not sure what specific items means exactly, but I'd like to say that I sincerely hope it does not become another situation like baking where the items are so specific or from such a small pool that they become extremely inflated and it becomes obnoxiously expensive to grind out reputation because of it.
For the time being, sP rewards for the new questgivers, Maleria and Saggi (back into the game! :-) ) are o.k. for me. Wizard gives out way less than on legacy and I still dislike, that he
I am wondering about this where Maleria is concerned when she employs assassins and spies "Participating in events with that NPC ... Special activities themed to each NPC's personality"
Dunno if you pushed an update but Kumos had much better performance today in comparison to the other days - it was much faster and stable :D Still not as fast than the old site but much better
also: the idea of increasing NPC reputation by completing quests and gaining benefits like access to their special items and discounts/higher buying limits in NPC shops sounds interesting to me, but the critical thing is that:
it looks like the current iteration of questing is ok becuase you can pretty much do it the same way current quests are, but there are little things that make it a bit awkward. namely there's still so much stuff at the top of the page that the actual button to start and complete the quest end up pushed off the bottom edge, unlike on the current version of the site where all links stay above the fold. AND when you open the shop search to actually get the items, the button to buy the item is ALSO pushed off the bottom of the page due to the whole giant quest interface at the top.
not wholly relevant to this topic in particular, but since i'm already mentioning it, i might as well point out that it really feels like the kumos site was designed with giant monitors in mind, and everyone with a 1080 or lower resolution is a second-class citizen... so the legacy site still feels much more efficient and accessible in this regard, hence part of why i don't enjoy using kumos. and yes, i have made my own CSS layout to fix a lot of things, remove the header, reduce the sidebar and as much padding as i can without breaking things... but still a lot of things are just weirdly "pushed down" by irrelevant or suboptimally-placed content at the top of the page, which lends itself to that claustrophobic feeling. plus due to the new "function-based CSS" system there are page elements that i can't even edit or remove myself because they have no class or ID that i can meaningfully select. (and some things, like item hovers, are broken because they use tailwind styling WITH NO FALLBACK for browsers like mine. and again i can't fix it myself because there is no selector.)
additionally, there is a mis-match between the listed NPC shop prices and what the price actually is when you click on the link to search up the item. is it possible the button is pulling the legacy NPC shop price, but the link takes you to the kumos shop, which has a different price? that should probably be fixed at some point too.
Feedback: ... NPC Shops Hm, forgot, this is about them, too.
Don't like the new style(everything takes up sooo much space like on all of Kumos)
nor the new setup with so-and- so-many available, you can buy multiples and now the new high prices. By what order do items go?
Last I mentioned this on the other thread, the shops were still under construction - I hope they are now as well.
I don't understand why the Book Nook is on the Kumos site when none of the Kumos quest givers asks for books. As the Wizard asks for spells it seems strange that Spells Galore isn't on the Kumos site.
If the Kumos Book Nook prices are going to stay horrendously high can we please keep Quest Points for the sake of battlers needing AP for their pets and other players needing intelligence point for job promotions? Being able to get books from Quest Shops with Quest points will save sP - not all players have billions in the bank.
I'm sad about the smoothness of the quests being removed (having everything in one window and not needing to open 4 tabs), but I understand I wasn't on the popular side of that debate u__u I'm hoping that the site loading more quickly will help me get a more nuanced opinion on everything else!
