My brother and I would bug Mom for a comic book but we were only allowed one at a time. We knew better than to ask for more.
Yep, you got it! It's not perfect but it's pretty close.

My Mom ran a tight ship too. We didnt darn ask for anything.
I think its an awesome likeness. The ears gave her away though. lol I was buying comic books on the regular when I first started to read. They were 5 cents. I wish I would have kept everyone of them. Comic books got me hooked on reading books. I forever had one or the other in my hands. I started with the Archies, Casper, LilAudrey, Wendy, The Hardy boys, then immediately got hooked on DC & Marvel.
...Congrats on the potion! Is this like the 4th time? LOL & - Im happy about the dogs!!! I love dog stories.
I love dogs dearly, but wouldnt mind if someone would run the sass out of them once in awhile.
Comic books were an indulgence. One a week until I started getting a shot every day. Then Mom would get me one whenever we went to the pharmacy.
Yeah, when I was little it was Archie, Richie Rich and Casper. Then I moved on to DC and Marvel but I preferred Marvel. And I loved it when there was a brief flurry of independents. I especially loved Southern Knights and DNAgents. And of course Elfquest. Do you have any dogs?

Same when I was growing up. My sisters and I always wanted ice cream cones, the local pharmacy had a soda fountain with ice creams of all kinds.
Oh man! I MISS the days when you could eat at a drug store.

- Once I got hooked I would hang out at the Variety store up the street, every Tuesday until the man brought in all the newest editions and I would snatch up the ones I wanted. I would read any kind just to read. Remember the Crypt keeper ones? and MAD comics?? lol
I would also buy the latest 45 to play when I got home too. I remember being so excited when I bought "She loves you" by the Beatles. LOL They cost like 50 cents
about my dogs. Yes, over the years I have had several dogs, until they passed. Mostly German Shepherds, a couple St. Bernards, a black Lab. and my very first was a shepherd/collie mix that the girls in HS gave me for my Bday in 10th grade. I named him MEATS but my Father always called him Porkchop. LOL
So do I, but as a kid I lived for their ice cream.
I adore your elfquest HA!
It's great that Honey and your other pup are getting along.
Yeah, I went to Circle K or the corner store every day I knew the comics were coming in. Then as I got older I started going to comic book stores. I loved Mad magazine! Especially the show satires (Makeus Sickby still makes me laugh), Spy vs. Spy and all the little margin cartoons. Girls in HS gave you a dog? Man, you must have been really popular!
Kids today will never realize how much they missed out on.
Thank you!

So true, their lives can be so superficial and all about physical appearance.
And they live on their phones.

Even the younger smaller kids are getting that way. My older son didnt have his first cell until high school. It was after Columbine high school shooting, and I felt better knowing he had it. I told him, something happens all your friends meet me in the church parking lot across from the high school. They will call their parents, and they would be picked up from our house.
