Ohhh I see. "Enter contest" and "Vote participants" are two diferent thing, I get it now.
ah, my bad! i did not read very good lol. i'm glad it's working now though :)
I can only view the first page of the avatar contest entries. It does not allow me to "click" other pages or arrows to navigate for voting.

I saw the event saying
is there any chance a link could be included to that please? Right now I can't find it to try voting!

the browse links don't all work, so for now I could only view first and last page (unless I changed the URL manually)
as usual with popular avatar contests - who will browse 12 pages to view all avatars? So those on 1st page will always have an advantage. Not sure how to solve that. Maybe start on a random page?
with those huge top parts of the site it requires a lot of scrolling to get to the actual content (avatars in this case), especially when you browse
also maybe add a note that you can like as many entries as you want? At first I thought I had only 1 vote
Looked through all the pages. Took me a minute to realize the images were slow to change between pages but found one to vote for eventually. I didn’t see the button to vote for it until I clicked to view its details and then hit back to the last page which then showed a way to vote for those other than the first page.
Are the newer contests still not accepting newly created HAs? The one I entered basically only showed those from one to three years ago.
Voting opinions:
Are we meant to be able to vote for our own entry? (I just tried it, and it let me)
ok, Kumos site forum 'attach image' doesn't seem to want to work properly...
^ navigation between the pages not only looks misaligned, but none of the links make the cursor look any different, leading me to believe they aren't actually links (they really need to at least be underlined if the cursor isn't going to change on hover!)
the links do work, but they don't look like links, if that makes sense?
however going to a different page, makes the "vote" option vanish! So I can see the HAs on the third page, but there's no way to vote for any of them (this happens even if I remove the one vote I've already done, so it doesn't seem to be down to a voting limit) having refreshed the pages multiple times, now the only HA giving me the option to vote, is the one on the bottom right regardless of the page (Chrome 131.0.6778.266) - Chrome has just told me it wants to update, so I'll see if that helps at all (edit: after updating Chrome, the HA voting buttons still randomly decide to show / not show)
(again, please ignore any typos as the spellchecker add-on for Chrome still isn't working on the Kumos forum text boxes)

"None of your public avatars meet the contest requirements."
Trying to enter contest no.5 (Wear it Best: Crowning Glory). My avatar
I also miss an option to remove my reaction.
[edit] Seems 20 minutes weren't long enough. But after 27 minutes and a refresh the outfit showed up.
Entries on page 1 show the reaction button during entry phase, those on page 2 don't. I'm sure that's not how it is supposed to be
Solution found thanks to s help. So unbeknownst to me HAs aren’t actually public like they’re shown here when using the wardrobe because they are default “unlisted” on the Kumos site. But that fact is not represented on the aforementioned page. If possible could the wardrobe that shows them as public PLEASE include a link and message alerting users to this fact. Or simply force users to use the Kumos page if that’s where things actually work.
old post
-can’t enter
Only my HAs that are from two months ago or older are available to choose from so those that require a specific item are out and I thought it had been updated since the 2nd contest where many had chosen 3-1 year old saved HAs but it seems the newly created HAs aren’t up for selection for any of the current contests either. At least not for me. Three googly eyed HAs later I realize it’s not me xD
[edit]I see the post above had the same problem but for me nothing has show up.
it would be nice to know how many votes we get, like displayed somewhere? is it just 1? 5 (/or number based on how many prizes are going out, if less than 5 is possible)? (would vote for multiple if i could lol)
on each page load, the vote button only shows up on 1 (or none) HA, you have to refresh the page to see all 24 vote buttons (none on pg 12 first load, 1 on the rest)
the pagination doesn't always work - sometimes can navigate with the numbers + Previous (but Next doesn't work), sometimes i get stuck on a certain page at random as the numbers are clickable but i stay on the old page number's url.
3 different usernames loaded under a same HA while going from say page 10 to 9. over a minute maybe?
even though my HAs say they're public via the new subeta link, they're defaulting to private on kumos which i vaguely remember(imagine?) changing myself? i can find where we toggle private/public for each outfit on kumos but -- where do we go to change the default again? if i didn't imagine it ofc.
just pushed out some major changes, thank you for the detailed feedback everyone! this is really fun, and i'm enjoying clicking the button to see new outfits 🤣
Voting Phase
I'm going to add a few new options for creators:
💖 ✨ 🤗
Trying to enter for contest , but even after almost 2 hours my outfit (1522779) is not found. All requirements are met:
What am I missing?
I love the idea of this BUT I can't enter! I made an outfit for the crown one yesterday but it says I have no eligible outfits (just rechecked as well) :'( I made sure it's the right crown, it's saved as Public. It's under the sP limit, and I own all the items.
Improvements I'm going to make after this one has ended:
After that... i think i'll be ready to open it up 😎

Picking up from the shoutbox as I only get Login-messages on Kumos.
If the requirements are that restricted, this should be noted somewhere very prominently. How many outfits max? How many items in wardrobe max? Else the avatar contests are useless and will float the ticket box and bug forums as well as cause a lot of anger and frustration. Maybe not try to load "all eligible" but just a first batch ot outfits. And only if an outfit is chosen check against the requirements?
Also, this system of voting means that you might never see all avatars. That you have to click a lot because you simply don't know if you have seen all even if you try. Imo a better solution is to show all on pages but load a random page when the page is loaded for voting. So users don't all start on page 1, but some on 4, some on 7 etc. (and there can be algorythms to make sure all pages are loaded more or less evenly). But users still can click through them and decide how to chose their vote.
This doesn't feel anywhere stable and thought through enough to be released as regular site feature.
I'm also only getting log in again errors for all contests and now quests? I have tried re-logging in and it's just giving me the same error again and again. It won't even show newly created avatars for contests.
i know it's just testing but i'm a little bummed i wasn't able to vote in either of the test contests. i did get a notification that one of them had progressed to the voting stage, but i couldn't actually figure out how to get back to the contest page, as there was no link in the notification.
it's not immediately obvious that https://kumos.subeta.net/wardrobe/outfits/contests only shows currently enterable contests by default (and that you're supposed to use the dropdown menu to check every category separately), so i was scouring the page thinking maybe the contest in question had been deleted since it was just for testing.
by the time i realized i was supposed to use the dropdown menu, voting for both test contests had already closed. again, bummed out, because it looks like only a very small handful of votes went out, and there were entries with no votes that i would have loved to have voted for!
i think the page should have a better way to simultaneously present all "active" contests by default (those in the entry stage AND those in the voting stage), and then let us filter it down ourselves if we want. because right now the page header says "active contests" no matter what section you're in, even when looking at the contests that are completed (and thus by definition no longer active), so it's kind of confusing.
(plus, the dropdown menu defaulting to the "open" option is quite nondescriptive of its function, hence why it took me so long to even think to play around with it.)
also, this is minor but i think the contest name should also serve as a link to that contest's page. i keep trying to click on them because that just makes sense but then i remember i have to go alllll the way over to the "view" button, which just seems kind of redundant? when the name is right there? and names of things on a list, like shops or forum topics, are usually links to those things?
also also, now i'm getting server errors trying to view any of the contests, and clicking the prompted "log in" button just takes me back to the news page. trying to navigate back to the contests just results in the same error again, creating an infinite loop.
before the response to this, i just pushed out new code that should hopefully resolve some of these pain points, and make the entry loader in particular more snappy. I've moved instructions directly into the box, and added direct feedback (the spinner) on the button while you're waiting for it to do it's work. The page also shouldn't crash anymore trying to do the initial calculation.
👋 i responded to some of this in the shoutbox, but i’ll address it here too! i’ve just pushed an update that should improve the speed and stability of the page. i also want to emphasize that this is a feature in testing—the whole point of a testing thread is to uncover bugs and errors before launching the feature site-wide.
this is actually how it worked when the feature was failing for you. it loaded 20 outfits at a time, checked the restrictions, and then moved on to the next batch. i’ve updated it to process 50 outfits at a time now, with better caching and other optimizations. i’m hoping this resolves your issue so you can view the page smoothly!

every system like this involves trade-offs, and if you look through the thread, you can see the reasoning that led to this design. i’ve considered your suggestion (and similar ones), but based on user research, most people tend to focus only on the first few pages, even if they’re dropped randomly on page 8. they’ll maybe move to page 9 → 10 → 11, but it still ends up being linear, not truly random.
the current design—randomly loading outfits and tracking what you’ve seen—removes page bias entirely. there’s no “page 1” for people to favor, and middle entries don’t get overlooked. while everyone’s preferences differ, this approach seems the most fair and effective for this type of competition. i may eventually make this a customizable option for competition creators, but for now, this design feels like the best fit.
i understand your frustration, but i want to clarify: the reason this is in testing is to avoid releasing a broken feature. i’ve put a lot of thought into this system and have been iterating based on user feedback. the issue you’re experiencing is exactly why i’m doing this test—so i can identify and resolve problems like these before a full launch.
at the end of the day, participating in testing is totally optional. for some, testing means accepting that the feature might not work perfectly yet, or at all. i appreciate your feedback—it’s helping me fine-tune the system—but i’d also ask for a little patience as i work through these edge cases. thanks for being part of the process!

100% agree on all of your feedback! the events are supposed to have links, I'm not sure what's going on that's causing them to drop but that should be fixed in the next batch of updates 🫡
and agree that the contest page can do a better job of showing what contests are in progress, and which ones are voting / have been completed. that drop down worked great when i had 1-2 in testing, now i can see how it'll create problems.
ty for the feedback!
