My brother lives in a nursing home for veterans. He said the fires were close to him and he could smell the smoke. They weren't allowed to go outside. My sister lives in California also, but she lives in Yucaipa.

I’m happy that your brother has the care that he needs in situations like these. Even just smelling the smoke from the fires can be dangerous. Yucaipa is in the Riverside/San Bernadino county. I know exactly where it is, I live about 1 1/2 hours from her. I live in the high desert in Antelope Valley. We definitely see our share of fires in these areas! Did you all grow up in CA?

My siblings and I were born and grew up in the Bronx, NYC. My sister and brother both ended up in California. I moved to Florida and met my late husband there and ended up in Ohio where he was born and raised.

Your brother and sister went from one side of the country to the other for sure! Do they like living in CA? I know sometimes, it’s hard to just pack up and leave. Sometimes, I wish that I had the ability to do it. I’ve lived in California for my whole life except for 2 years that my husband was stationed in South Carolina. What part of Ohio are you in? My parents were born and raised in Bellaire and, Akron. I remember going there as a child. Much too cold! Fun though, to play in the snow when visiting. :)

Akron is about an hour and a half north of where I live. Coshocton is the name of the town I live in. When I first moved to Ohio, we lived in Uhrichsville and I worked in New Philadelphia which is close to Canton/Akron.

I really only ever went to Akron and, Bellaire. The last time I was in Ohio, I was 8. I don’t have family there anymore. :( I’m 66 now so, it’s been forever ago!

Hi all! I'm okay here in Fort Bragg CA....I'm so happy LA got some rain. What devastation there :( I'm glad you're okay Michelle. Thank God Shirley and her sister are okay. No broken bones! I've just not been feeling the best the last couple of weeks. I'm in some kind of flare up with my liver so I have been in bed not doing much. I thought I should stop by to let you know I'm still alive! I'm getting better everyday. I can't believe how fast the months are flying by! It's already going to be February.
