Oof. My wishlist peek includes a godly weapon and a retired CW. There are only two items worth less that 1 mil, and both are under 50k. Overall, not very useful.

I just saw the quality ranking and then looked again at the advice given for joyful exchange...

Defeats the purpose, doesn't it?

Oh and... it didn't show any items from yesterday's exchange. It was all gift boxes.

Either something's messy or I'm messy. I felt like I've been giving decent items throughout the event (maybe not very expensive, but nothing below 100k, no junk, mostly stuff from old events...), similar to or better than my teammates, but now I'm seeing β€žbelow average” almost everywhere? And the wishlist feature – what I can see today mostly ranges from 50 to 500k (+ a 16 mil and a 40 mil item) so gifting the items I automatically end up with β€žbelow average” again? Probably the same category as the user from my yesterday's team who filled the pool with snow fairies...

Also, gifting WL items just doesn't feel fair to me when one person wishes only for 10k items and another wishes for 10 mil. I'd rather have Melody taking care of wishlists and everything else remaining, well, mysterious. And random.

The quality aspect is interesting. Everyday for me as been 'poor' except one which was 'near average'

I wonder how this works out for the users who put in cash shop items and higher currency (like 1k tokens, instead of 50)

How does one.'escape' poor quality pools.

Feels like atleast 2-3 people per day just throw in random stuff of really low value (1-20k) everyday while I send out Vanity items or other expensive retired/challenger loot

[Edit] Wishliet peek is pretty cool, it does give us the opportunity to see what others would like, my question would be does the WL items go to the people who's WL it's on or just randomly assigned?

Interesting, all but one of my pools of items have been rated "poor" - I've been keeping track of what I gave vs what I got (I'm curious that way but have been enjoying the randomness of the items!!) One was rated "near average." And I had thought my groups items were pretty decent.

Anyway, I mostly came to say I don't like that we can't see the items today? Not even from past groups. I enjoyed being able to see what everyone contributed because it gives me an idea of what people are giving and the price ranges they are giving from.

Also, the ranking seems to be taking Melody's items into account. My group was at "above average" with all four participants having put in the full five items, but when Melody started adding stuff, the rating went down. Not a super useful way to judge it if Melody is going to tank the rating every day.

I have the same quality star (the red one) on all my days now - I've checked to see if it's just you or me too. I think it's because of the new system added, also the new way how MM is working now. Maybe it take a while until the stars/quality changes. Maybe the system need a reboot or something like this. Just my five cents about it. I also screenshot every day what I throw into the pool and also what was in the pool the whole day. I just do it to see what other subetans throw in, so maybe I find some items (or have them myself in doubles and triples and so forth) I can throw in on later days, to mix everything with different stuff. (Sometimes I buy items from user shops up to X million, so I can give out "higher priced" items too.)

While subetans also do the "Give the tree above X items valued XXX" and so, prices increase and decrease fast. The item you throw in yesterday was maybe worth 10 million and today it's just 40,000 sP. I think this can also happen and is a critical factor to the quality/star ranking.

In general | My experience so far (Not meaning a specific subetan) I'm very happy to see MM back this year. I can't thank you enough for this, even I'm not a person who likes holidays (also not virtual ones), I like the chance to give out items to other subetans in general.

And I also open for the group system, even though I prefer the old MM, where we was matched with just one subetan. The old system had the plus that we was able to "communicate" with each other by using stickers like to show the other MM that we liked what we got. That is something I really miss with the new way how MM is working now. It was more intimate, if I can say this so.

The downside of the old MM was - in my opinion - when we was matched, it could happen that you send something and didn't get back anything. I can understand all the subetans which were frustrated and upset. And in the worst case, it's happend often to someone and this subetan decided to not use the function anymore. (Yep, I had in all the years also very few subetans which I was matched with and didn't get anything back, so I can understand such situations very good.) The group system now is more anonymous, but on the other side, even if a subetan don't give items, we have Melody-Bot itself in the group, so that she can give items the subetan forget to throw in. BUT - and that is just my opinion and view - subetans who joined, but didn't give items or just junk (sovereign of the reason), has to be punished. --> Either they have to be banned for the next day only (when they joined but didn't throw in anything) --> or they have to get their junk items back (if they have given out just junk items)

I also wonder if it could be possible to match a group with 1 or 2 subetans which had made a bad/not-so-nice experience with 3 or 4 subetans which are trusty/safe and everyone give out a amount of sP (item value) which is given. Example:

  • 5 subetans joined the pool
  • 2 of them had back/not-so-good experience with the new MM
  • the MM system has a limit of how much the items (which are throwed in) should be cost (item price by lowest ss) --> Items which are cost more as the limit can't be throwed in the pool

And about the - more wishlist focus: the strategy will attempt wishlist-based purchases more frequently. you mentioned Do I understand it correctly, that Melody-Bot buy items from user shops and throw them into the pool? --> If yes, I'm wavering about it. What if the subetan had just CWs, unbuyable, extreme high-priced items (or a very low WL) on their wishlist? How fair is this function then, if this person get something really high-priced and other subetans not? I join s objection in this case.

All in all, thank you for this update. I read on-and-off this topic and thought I had to left my opinion too.

I also cannot see the items from any past pools today. It was working this morning around 1am when I was awake and unable to sleep but now I’m up for the day and wanting to look at my past items and they’re not there. Just the boxes.

Also I gave one of the items on the wishlist peek to the pool this morning and it’s still there. So are we going to have multiple people buying the same item if it’s reasonably priced because it still shows even after it’s been purchased?

(thank you to for my siggie)

There's 10 pages of this thread so maybe it's been mentioned already but... I just contributed the wrong item because: I was on page 2, clicked on the item I wanted to donate to select it, went instantly back to page 1 and auto selected the item in the same position, then the page crashed and when I refreshed, the contribution went through, even though I never clicked any buttons to confirm. And both the item I wanted to donate (page 2) and the item I didn't (page 1) are now part of my contribution...

Old MM being intimate was the reason I loved it so much. It was giving the ability to test the waters and adjust to the other person during the day, while the new one so far feels mostly about adjusting the prices/rarity not to stick out too much (at least in the bad way) and in hope for getting good groups in the future? I understand the system is new and is being adjusted all the time, but... eh, dunno.

Some things that can't be measured easily, like time put into theming gifts, choosing something that looks adorable or is useful (needed for achievements, can be put into a collection). With the old system, in the last years of it being fuctional I was getting matched with 2-5 β€œnice” people in the whole month, and I was participating daily. But it was enough for me to like the event. At first I was sending something like [item=Hello! Montre Sticker] + maybe some tokens to see if the person responds, then a bunch of not too expensive holiday-themed items to see if the person doesn't try to send one item to get something good. And then I could go wild. I didn't mind spending millions if the other person was nice even if I got cheap (but cute!) things in return.

There are always people trying to outsmart the system for their benefit (I stopped joining the tree gifting threads because some folks weren't giving the items or were giving junk) and I don't think they can be stopped (please, prove me wrong). But I wonder: is it possible to create a category of items that are available easily/for free (Ikumoradeekanox fruits, snow fairies, scratchcards...) to differentiate givers of such items from users who give something cheap and of similar rarity but more thoughtful? And could we get a β€œreport unfestive spirit” if someone, let's say, puts 5 into the pool, so that it could be investigated and the giver could get some sort of warning?

First of, thank you very much for the ping and the discussion between us. ^-^

But are you... Maybe one of the MM I had in the past? laugh I remember many subetans I was matched up with who used any sticker (like the [item=Hello! Montre Sticker] you named + who send out tokens/holiday currencies (I did the same too from time to time). It's a wonderful concept, that maybe we have been matched in the past. ^_^

And yes, I agree with you, that we have subetans out their, who just do it for own profit. That's okay - every person is different and that's also okay. But when a function like MM is re-worked, it should also be have a fairness-system. Fairness should mean, that subetans who throw in "expensive items" (let say as example, every item over 2-5 million) are matched with other subetans who also do the same. Fairness should be rewarded, even if it's just to be matched with other subetans who do this way too (I'm sure the new MM system do it and I also understand that collecting datas can take a while). And Fairness also means to me, that subetans who give out junk (game prizes items like Ikum-fruits, Slots Coins and Oofa fruits and all those items) are also paired all together in a group to take their own medicine. That's how Fairness works for me.

Your report unfestive spirit idea is something I support. But how should it work? Do you mean, when someone do this, that we can click on those items (like the ticket-system we already have) and report them? If so, I hope this can be worked out by or something similar.

Another idea for your idea could be, that you can toss only 1 junk item into the pool. That would be guarantee, that more "higher priced" (everything above 50K) items are thrown in. Depending of how often an subetan do this, maybe this subetan can get a warning not to do this again, otherwise he blocked for 1 day.

Until so far, I want to thank you again for your reply and ideas. I'm sorry that you had a bad experience with the tree-topics durcing Luminaire (to be honest, I have it also every year, but it doesn't affects me much. I can join the wl-Luminaire topics [if I just want wl items] and that's fine).

Hopefully other subetans can throw in their 5 cents too and made some new suggestions. ^-^

Perhaps! Or maybe it was just another lovely person who saw the same Mysterious Melody guide forum thread. :D I remember there was a huge one listing many items that helpful in communication (hello, goodnight and thumbs up/down stickers, vanishing cream, thank you bears...) and general tips, I loved it.

As for reporting, I imagined some general button we could press if many items in the prize pool were β€œinnapropriate”/”junky”. And then some actual person from the staff could investigate – after all, as regular users we can't see if all junk items were given by the same person or 2-3 folks donated a fairy by mistake. And I put emphasis on β€œitems”, plural, because I can see someone giving, for example, Angelic Fruit (Ikum fruit) among other angelic-themed items, and in this context I wouldn't mind it. But I understand if there aren't enough staff members to take care of it. The idea of clicking on single items perhaps could work in the longer therm, with the system gathering the amount of reports of items donated by a particular member.

Reading the notes on the pool quality - I'm not sure that it's doing what I'd like (which is encouraging people to maybe bump up their items) so I might remove it entirely.

The wishlist section is mostly intended to give you some ideas, not force you to purchase something off a wishlist. It chooses entirely randomly (but with a limit of up to one CW per person), and prioritizes a user getting their wishlist items in the reset (but won't give someone 8 items if they're all wishlist items and none to anyone else).

Melody prioritizes buying WL items, but has a sP limit, so won't be buying godlies for anyone :)

I still agree on making it so that folks can communicate, there has been some work in that direction but I'm not sure I'll get it finished before MM is done this year, but a great improvement for next year ;)

I like the idea of the pool quality, I think it pushes people to be a little more conscious about what items they are contributing to the pool while still remaining anonymous. I do think it will probably take more tweaking to get right to take into consideration usefulness/user price/wishlist and then lump people accordingly to what contribution limit to be added into.

I think someone mentioned have a "price category" pool to enter? I like the idea of being able to choose what "gift exchange limit" you wanted to be added in a pool for. That's very similar to how a secret santa or white elephant party is done irl - gift exchangers all agree on a min/max limit for gifts without necessarily knowing what each person in the group wants to receive.

Overall, as long as I’m not receiving straight up junk, I’m enjoying this. Each day is different. Some days I get some real surprises which I have been super thankful for, and other days, not as much? But I am still thankful. It’s something to look forward to if I’m up at subeta midnight or when I check on in the morning. I don’t expect to get a whole lot from my wl. I just have fun seeing what people put in.

i'm honestly really enjoying the WL view, just because it shows me so many items I don't get to see on Subeta often! Admittedly, I've had access to the refreshing version (if you refresh it shouldn't show you anything new now) so I could see lots of cool items.
