Hope the meds help and you feel better soon. Depression is nasty and insidious. One thing I learned that helped besides the importance of the meds is very simple. You might think it's stupid too. But it helps me. Find something or place something that you truly love in every room where you live. They can be anything - a little bright origami piece, a windchime, a picture, the color on one of your birds. Whatever. Then every time you go in a room, let yourself enjoy the item in it for a moment. At first it will be difficult. Make yourself concentrate on it for 5 seconds and think of nothing else. That's all. Think about why you like it. The way it catches the light; how the color is so beautiful; the sound of the chimes as your fingers brush against the pieces - whatever it is. If you focus for just a moment on something positive and let yourself enjoy it, several times a day, it frees up the grip of deep dark depression. Even for a brief span of time the positive will outweigh the negative. It won't get rid of it entirely, but for me it lessens it's impact. And I've found that changing up some of the items over time keeps the interest fresh too. Now I automatically glance around and when I see whatever I've placed, I smile. <3

Mom is almost totally recovered from surgery. It is amazing.

As far as coders, I have bought or been given code over the years from people that are mostly gone. I mix and match and eventually get what I want. I can't do any coding myself. I know just enough to get somewhere sometimes but also spend hours and more frustrating hours trying different things that should be simple and aren't. I admit to throwing things on occasion. :) Sometimes if I have an idea but not sure how to do it, I will ask on the Pet Spotlight + Support V forum. There's some listed in the profiles forum too that do beautiful ones. But I usually can't afford them. Also has a bunch of freebies as well as . But also Idk if she does profiles for others, but you might ask . She knows about code, and might know others too.

Some of my favorite artists that do custom art are gone now or on hiatus. But I think is still doing some. See her work on Quad's Anyone? and my pet

And thanks for the suggestion. I have two plants in the study (Hircine and Ishimura) to look at when working. Plus a bird feeder that I can see during the day. Bird drama is the best drama.

On the couch in the living room I keep a rotating roster of plushies.

Saw the movie Heretic today. Will take me awhile to come to terms with WTF happened in that movie. Would recommend it just be aware it is slow and is a discussion about the validity of religion.

You're right! I do need to go through mine. Lumi is so much fun but a lot of work too. Last year I sent out gifts and well wishes over three days and that worked. I didn't get completely overwhelmed like the year before. I have to plan ahead this year too. It's going to be so hard irl because my mother won't be here for the first time in my whole life. She always made sure that Christmas and birthdays were special. Even when she was she was fighting and losing to cancer. So I do too... But its really bittersweet for me now. I miss her every day. <3

- I spread my gifting over the whole month so I didn't get overwhelmed. It worked but, as Lumi got closer, I felt like I hadn't given my friends enough and went back around for a 2nd time. 😂 I'm also cleaning up my wishlist now that a lovely person (YOU) just gave me a ton of stuff. :P Awww, hon, it's going to be ok. It'll be very nostalgic and it will make you sad but think of all the happiness your mom gave you while was around. Perhaps, you can continue the tradition with one of your family members? (i.e. you treat a family member as your mom treated you for the holidays.) Perhaps get a special ornament to commemorate your mom's life and every time you see it you'll remember her. Or, set a place for her at your holiday dinner. I did that for the first 5 years after my step-dad died. It was only on the 6th year that the grief was abated enough that I didn't feel the need to do it any longer. Hugs ❤

Aww thank you. The ornament idea was a great one. Christmas before last they told her she didn't have much time (I'm grateful to have had more than they thought) and she decided she wanted to give everyone a special ornament with the date. So she told me what she wanted and I did my best to find them, and also gave her a number of choices for others we were vague about. It was so cool and really special because even tho I helped a lot, she chose for each person. We all loved it. <3

It’s going to be rough, but try to surround yourself with hapy things and memories. I agree with maybe seeing if a family member would want to carry out those traditional/ family activities.
