Welcome to Subeta! When I first joined, I did quests and worked on my pets first, since I really enjoy the different pet species and art c: After that I got into earning achievements, and the system allowed me to interact with a lot of different parts of the site that way

For pet overlays, you can use art purely for your pet profile, but you can also upload your overlay onto the site (there is a small CSC cost for this), but the art will be seen sitewide for your pet, so this includes your onsite interactions with your pet, for example in battle or training.
