Neopets giving out Seasonal Attack Pea in the advent calendar(bonus reward pool), this is hilarious. New TNT is going to destroy their games economy even worse than it already is, imagine if Subeta was giving out hundreds of Godly Weapons every day just for clicking a link.

So there's the regular advent calendar prizes that are the same for everyone each day, then if you click the aisha that pops up on the side of the screen you get a random bonus reward

Not sure what's in the air lately but I also went back to Neo a couple of days ago and then started playing Subeta today lol.

OP was so right about all the QoL features here; I was wowed by how customizable the site was. I was even able to remove the header banner using Custom CSS so I have more room for the main stuff. I play on a laptop so the screen space isn't always the biggest.

But the biggest thing I appreciate is that everything on Subeta seems to just load fast. It's insane.

The loading fast may be more a function of the population, also a lot less bots in subeta. I think that's mostly because there's not too many valuable items in subetan npc stores.

I wish Neo had a "how many users online" counter like they do here! Just out of curiosity.

I cant imagine the numbers if they ever had a counter. I'm also curious about the loose giving away of rarer items happening now. I really wonder if this is in an effort the counteract the issue of items being SO rare that they are impossible for the average neopets player to obtain being 1 or 5 or 10mil in cost. It takes a long time to build that up unless you got SUPER lucky and maybe you got a rare item that a rich neopian wanted to buy. Kinda how I got my first several mil, but I could just as easily drain it all on one item. The neo economy going to be a bit wild for a while.

tried to get back into it because my friend was trying to convince me, i gave it a look and it's still so broken! the site used to feel so easy to navigate - idk, maybe i'm just getting old and confused! it seemed like it's got a lot of work to do still. subeta is still my favorite!

Yeah things are terrible unattainable on Neo! I don't even bother planning to paint my pets. They're mostly all labbies. I have some savings, but that's only because I found 2 old items on my account that I guess were rare wearables. Pure luck, really, and 10 years of waiting for items to age.

I had started playing Neopets way back in 2006, before the big style conversion, and have been on and off the site since. The economy was a mess even when I first joined, and I don't remember a point where you didn't have to be stupidly rich to get virtually anything you might want. Even standard quests could be a nightmare! I revisited it most recently a few weeks ago, but I just wasn't able to get back into it at all. It was very unfun just navigating the site, and I couldn't even muster the interest to check out my old dailies like the lab ray. I'm very new to Subeta (as in, I didn't even know it existed before I joined) and I was blown away by just how much better it is than Neopets. I doubt I'll be going back any time soon; especially since I've lost access to my old main (whoops) and don't know how rough it'll be if I try to get it back.

Oh goodness, you nailed it - the Neo navigation is terrible! I can't get over the amount of neopoints you have linking to the BANK LOL. I hear you on dailies too. I only use the lab ray and collect my bank interest. Other dailies I don't bother with! I do Food Club to earn neopoints, but to be honest, I spend much more time here each day. My Neo time is only a little bit.

Neopets is a wonderful game about logging in, clicking the "collect interest" button at the bank, and logging out again. For everything else, there's Subeta!

I especially love this site's general... lack of filter? Not just on forums and such, but with respect to coding and creative expression as well. I NEVER would have been able to code a page like Barney's on Neopets. Any time I tried to code anything at all on there I'd run up against filter after filter (and god help you if you try to use JS). I especially love the custom pet overlays here and just how generally customizable everything is. Really appreciate being able to remove things on my profile without worrying about being banned for it...

I'd forgotten just how bad Neopets is about limiting expression. The creative freedom you get here is another thing that has just blown me away.

I didn't do a lot of coding while I was on Neopets because their awful, out of date tutorials put me off from trying anything beyond the most basic HTML. But even that left me feeling like I was fighting the site at times to get my stuff into a state that it deemed appropriate. And the censorship... oh lord, the censorship. I distinctly remember a time when the site blocked me from creating a page all because I put the word "title" in there a single time. At least it told me what the problem word was that time; when messaging other users I was expected to just know what horrible crime against conservative grannies I had committed. :/

Agreed! Talking on the forums is crazy. I wanted to mention that the name I am trying to trade is my ex-husband's surname (because it's funny) and I am afraid to say husband. That might be, y'know, Neo-dating or something. Once instead of "lol" I said "lmao" and spent the next 3 days waiting to be frozen xD

It really is! For Subeta, I have one bookmark. It's Subeta xD For Neo I have, like, 15 bookmarks...not because I play more, but because you NEED bookmarks to ever find something again!

Neopets is a hard pill for me to swallow these days. The site is mostly janky or downright broken, and they are doing precious little to fix it. But the biggest issue I've had is, recently through no fault of my own (it's actually Neopets' own fault, having to do with the mandatory password reset they made everyone do in August of 2022), I've been locked out of all four of my side accounts with many tickets submitted, and they have basically shrugged their shoulders and said, "too bad."

I actually came back to Subeta because of that. Their account security and customer service is abysmal.
