Well, my building has just been put up for sale. Slumlord didn't notify anyone. I called a lawyer and she said what he's doing is illegal because he HAS to give notice on paper that he's selling. So she's going to meet with about that and bout the frequent second hand cigarette smoke that's coming through to my unit for the last 8 months. Headaches, migraines, upset stomach and I have allergies to it, asthma and I have a cpap. She can only help me file if I have enough evidence. I told her the landlord doesn't do anything about the cigarette smoke, just harasses me to move.

I told my mom and she said "great, where am I going to put my stuff?" I said "you'll have to get a storage locker" and she said "I'm not doing that and you're not coming back". I said "Fine. I'll sell all my shit and buy a tent and live on the street. Just take care of my plants and Geckos".

I know how much I always hated it here, but now with a new owner, they can jack the rent to what they want because no one is honored. Lawyer told me. I'm trying not to cry. My anxiety is high and my heart is pounding in my chest.

I don't have her secured yet. I have to find out how much her rates are and if she can help me. I'm meeting with her this Thursday, after work. Filing through the landlord board, I'm not guaranteed to get abatment, but that's what we're going to aim for. I also want to find out if she can represent me and how much that will cost. If she's more than $500 for the day, I can't do it

what a crap :( Unfortunately, I am not familiar with your tenancy law. Am from Germany. Are you perhaps part of a tenant protection association? Doesn't the principle "purchase does not break rent" apply, i.e. the new owner must take over the existing tenancy agreement. Under the same conditions as before. Is there a deadline if you have to move out? Can you perhaps also apply for a grant? In the worst case scenario, would a shared apartment be an option for you? I wish you good luck and success with your legal advice. How terrible to experience something like that. and that just before the holidays.

That's why if I have sufficient evidence on the cigarette smoke, note from doctors (I'll have to go and ask for one at the clinic. My family dr died), I can file at the board to try and get rent back. The lawyer gave me a lot of info (free consult) and I'm meeting with her so she can look over all my texts. When she asked how come I didn't send a letter to the landlord, I said they moved and don't have their new address (she said crafty, so all we have are texts).

Last night I woke up to the lady in the basement trying to air out her apartment because she pit pine sol in the vents. Not the first time either.

The landlord text me saying he wants access to my unit on Thursday. No explanation. I asked why. He never text back. That's more ammo

It's supposed to be "new owner takes over existing tenants" but they don't have to. It's sad, but a new owner can do what they want.

He's also supposed to give notice on paper before selling the building and he disnt. So that's illegal
