I'm in southwestern Ontario (Canada) and I say suh-bay-tah.
I'm also in Southwestern Ontario (!!!👀), and I've always pronounced it "Sue-bay-tah". But I also had/have no idea if I'm pronouncing it correctly, lol.
Uhhhhhhhhhh, I'm sorry...what? Until this very moment, I too thought it was Clawison. Damn. >.>
I never put a second thought into this! Ha! I’ve been pronouncing it sub-bayta all this time.
I vaguely recall the same thing, that "sub-etta" was somehow given as the official pronunciation. I always thought it was "soo-bay-tah" until that point, but I figured if the site owner said it a certain way, that must be the right way, and I've been saying "sub-etta" ever since. I'm certain I wouldn't have come up with that pronunciation on my own.
I've been pronouncing it Su-bet-a but it never sounded right xD
I know it's not the right way, but I've thought of it as "Sub-eater" since I've started playing. Actually, it sounds more like "Sub-eata" with my New England accent. ^^;
I've always pronounced it as SUB-ATE-UH ^^;
This is exactly how I pronounce it (:
Great. Anxiety rears its ugly head. I never questioned how it was pronounced. Sheesh. Not sure I could convince my ancient mind to pronounce it sub etta. I'm in the soo bay tah corner personally.
Thank you anonymous!
Keith's old subeta YouTube channel Quietly leaves
comparing my pronunciation to that youtube video linked above, it seems my pronunciation is just. way too dutch hahaha
That's interesting, it seems even Keith has changed his mind about how to pronounce it! In the video linked above, he clearly says it like suh-BAY-ta but in this older video from his channel, I hear him saying suh-betta at 2:12. So I guess either one is correct? Or it's just whatever feels right to you in the moment? lol idk none of them sound right to me anymore
I say "suh-beh-tuh". I'm from the center of Canada where it's been reported we have the "flattest" accents (little to no inflections)
If you pronounce it the Japanese way, it has a rude meaning... ;)
It's basically depends on what slips through your tongue the most. I tend to say Sub-Et-Tah, like how Keith pronounces it. Like the 'Et' part sounds like pet, so it makes sense.
English here - I'd pronounce it sue-better, no idea if that is right as I'm the only person I know IRL who plays on here so never heard anyone else say it out load haha.
