Hi
I have been putting off making this post for a few weeks now because I'm worried about response. I can't put it off any longer.
The past few months, I have been experiencing extreme burnout. Not on Subeta specifically, but essentially on life. I've been working overtime every week since about mid-January. Coming home from a long day at work and having to think about doing custom wearables is starting to drain me further. It is making me feel like I did before I took a year off from Subeta in 2019; I'm becoming resentful of my job, and I don't want this to happen.
I'm not quitting Subeta, but I do need to make this change in order to make my life essentially more functional.
Effective immediately, the queue will be done on Fridays and Sundays.
I know this is not the ideal schedule. I know it is happening within very close days of each other. But with my schedule at the clinic being what it is, this is what I need to do in order to be good at my job - and also be happy.
Even if it doesn't seem like it, this will be for the better for all of us. Right now, I essentially do easy recolors after work on Thursday and only work on denials or new items once a week (unless I have a different weekday off - then I've been doing a full day of work). This will give me more time to work on new items and denials twice weekly again, instead of just once, which means a faster turn-around time for all involved. Plus, I'll still be able to do easy acceptances mid-week as time and energy allow. I'm not promising any specific days that this will get done, but you may find a scattering of approvals in the evenings here and there.
On weeks where my day off switches (I often will swap Friday or Saturday for Wednesday or something similar), the queue will be done that day instead, and I will make an announcement on the CW Announcements board like I have been for the past few years.
I'm not locking this thread so you all can provide any feedback or ask any questions. However, please refrain from posting "Why doesn't Subeta hire another person to help with CWs?" (or any variation of this question). I've answered this several times before, and to sum it up: We don't have the resources to hire someone else to do CWs. I do have help from coworkers if I need it, but this is not their main job on Subeta like it is mine. No, we cannot take a volunteer for this job, and I wouldn't anyway (because it is NOT volunteer work, no matter how fun it may seem on the outside). I won't be responding to this question.
