Hey there, people! I hope you're having a lovely Fireside so far.
Starting last night, some people had issues logging back in, basically getting an error message when trying. Keith figured out what was happening behind the 'something went wrong'; checks for an active pet were all redirecting to one particular pet belonging to a frozen user. The log-in steps couldn't get the type or color data and so the process wouldn't complete. The errant redirect should be fixed now and the code is back to recognizing your pet and finishing the log-in process.
Fireside is not going to be extended, there should be plenty of time still for the bonfire! The Black Friday sale may get an extension but that is not confirmed yet, please watch the front page for an update on that. If you missed your Bath House streak because of this, please file a ticket!
Thank you! I hope you've been able to stay warm or keep cool, depending on your preferences!

Yes, please file a ticket if you missed your bath house streak because of this! I'll be putting that in the post as well.

Are you having the same log-in issue, or a different one?
File a ticket! The UA department can reset it for you from there.
I'm not sure how much we can tweak it, but I'll ask Amber!
The reason we don't want to extend Fireside into Luminaire is because some of the set-up for Fireside conflicts with Lumi; for instance, we can't really do floating fairies and floating rreign items at the same time. Keeping up the Bonfire along with, say, trees, is very resource-intensive.
It's not exactly unrelated; holidays are often when something gets adjusted, or the servers and/or databases are under the most strain. The 'active pet' check, for instance, is related to Fireside because the Rreign has a chance of burning your active pet if you throw in a Wreathed item. Trees during Lumi make the database do a lot of work, and the event in general is a busy one. Survival is server-heavy. Vesnali is database-heavy. Keith is working on the database but is sorting ten years of coding cruft on it, and spinning up more servers can cost hundreds of dollars per day at peak capacity. So we really are trying to make them as smooth as possible, but there is a lot that goes on at those special times!
I can ask if it'd be okay to keep the battle opponents around an extra day, though!
