Anyway, I have sad news to share for those who are not my fb friends - we had to let our dog, my baby girl, my best girl, Buffy, go about 3 weeks ago. It was found that she had cancer in her shoulder that had spread to her lungs, and she was going downhill quickly. She was still her happy, goofy self when we let her go. But, there was no chance of recovery (or at least we weren't going to put her through chemo at 13 1/2 - we didn't explore that option), so we let her go. It has been really hard for us, and I have a huge hole in my heart because she was my best girl; she was my heart. Our other dog Simon misses her so much too. (Yesterday was his 9th birthday!)

I hear you on the busy part! Things are slowing down a little bit now that the school year is over. I don't have to teach again until next spring!

I've been given a promotion of sorts at my real job. They let go of our practice manager/head tech a couple of months ago for being toxic in our clinic. I won't go into detail, but it's a much happier atmosphere at work. They did find a new practice manager, but they wanted a lead tech. I didn't want a desk job because I enjoy the hands-on aspects(plus we're still short-staffed and they can't afford to lose me as a regular tech). So they've divided the role between two of us. I'm in charge of the surgery aspects of the hospital and training, the other tech is in charge of schedules and inventory. I'm really not taking on much more than what I already do, so it's more that I'm being recognized for all that I do there already lol. We shall see how it goes! I hope everyone enjoys the holiday weekend! Does anyone have plans?

We're not doing a whole lot for the 4th. This weekend we're having friends over and our daughter will be back from Colorado - they're moving here which is wonderful. She brought her husbands car & our granddaughter over earlier this week and then flew back into Kansas to pick up the moving truck yesterday. They'll be loading up today & by tomorrow afternoon she will be back on the road headed here. Her hubby will be on his way in her vehicle in 10 days when his contract with the military is up <3 We are beyond excited for them & the grandbabies to be living so much closer <3

Aside from that, not much going on in our neck of the woods at the moment - doing our best to stay cool, these heat indexes are no joke the past couple of days! It's the first time since moving here that we've been under sever heat index warnings.. though for us it just feels like we're back in south Florida.. those that live here aren't handling it well at all - I can't tell you how many times I've heard 'we never have heat like this here' this past week.. hopefully it cools down soon because I swear the heat makes people so cranky!

I don’t really have plans for the 4th per se but since it’s a day off mid-week. My DND group is going to take advantage of it and have our first in person session since before the pandemic. I’m excited.

I know I'm late, and I did see it on FB, but I'm so sorry for your loss ((HUGS)) Pets are such a big part of our lives, and people without them just don't know. When we went on vacation and took Kasey to my parents, just being away from him for a week was hard. I cried when we dropped him off. They are our family and our babies. She had such a good life with you, and so much love <3 <3

As for me, husband lost his job at the beginning of the month and right now, we're a one income household. I had doctors appts scheduled all month, and since we lost his awesome insurance, we had to go on my work's insurance. I was going to cancel all my appts, but we decided to pay for them out of our savings account. I have really bad sleep issues. Turns out I have moderate apnea. I had 17 instances of stopped/shallow breathing per hour. I have had to call in a lot this year for not sleeping and being afraid to drive. I get really sleepy driving and as a passenger ,anything over 30 minutes and I'm nodding off. Anyway, we are addressing that now. So, yay, I get a CPAP :/

Edit: Does anyone have tips on Recycle Beast? It's a little overwhelming.

We're not really doing anything for the 4th - hanging in our pool, grilling some burgers and listening to our neighbors re-do their siding - fun!

Hi everyone!! Just got back from a LONG family visit in CA that wrapped up with Comic Con :-D (SO many people!) It was my first Comic Con in San Diego. I was excited and grateful to see family that I haven't seen since 2019, stupid pandemic!

Dressing up only reached the level of fun/funny t-shirts. There were a lot of characters about and some really impressive costumes. Maybe one year we will preplan something as a family. I think it would be fun if the costumes weren't too hot. Even in shorts and a t-shirt, it was warm on the booth floor. All the people absorbed all of the AC. lol

I miss D&D. My group fell apart and away. Awesome that you all were able to play in person again.
