Its been a rough day so far. My anxiety is really bad today because I forgot to take my medication last night and didnt get good sleep. My anxiety has already made me throw up today.
Just wondering if anyone can relate. It's nice knowing im not alone.
Yes. I get panic attacks on a regular basis. It can be over something major, or something as simple as running out of chocolate milk.
I’m sorry you suffer through them! :( it’s no fun for sure.
Undiagnosed but yeah the chest pains and violent scream crying are real

I have Generalized Anxiety Disorder and Emetophobia, along with Depression. I have panic attacks occasionally, but have been on Prozac for my depression + anxiety for YEARS. I rarely get panic attacks anymore , unless I'm very VERY stressed and/or the stomach flu hits my house really bad. But when i do, they're horrible :c
I do. It's really rough. Sending positive vibes to everyone in this thread <3
I suffer with really bad anxiety. At one point i couldnt leave the house becuase it (that was a few years ago now). My husband took me to see a doctor and thankfully they managed to help me work through it. I know its really tough reaching out, but there are people who care and will help ya.
I've been having panic attacks on an almost regular basis for last 3 years, so... yeah. Medicines help a bit, so does having a supportive partner and getting rid of toxic people & surroundings. I also try not to worry too much about the attacks themselves, but instead accept them as a part of my condition (depression).
You have my deepest sympathy. I've had panic attacks and stress related tummy issues for most of my life. No one connected it with stress/anxiety until I was in my teens and it took another decade before I finally got medicine. Now my tummy thinks being stressed is the default and I panic when I wake up at night. I hope things have calmed down for you and you feel better.
Question for everyone: do you have any tips, tricks or things you do to try and help you handle a panic attack? My old methods have been less effective recently and I'm looking for other options. The one that always helps is hugging one of my plushies really hard but you can't do that in public without people making it worse because its "weird behaviour".
But I do have some suggestions to decrease the amount of panic attacks: Besides medication, there are a few things I've noticed help my anxiety:
Yes me I have panic attacks and stuff and for 25 years I just used videogames and unending rage to deal with it. This plan didn't work.
After the above, I've ended up in the ER several times for unexplained chest pains and such.
And continuing I've also had stupid tummy issues and ulcers due to the stress and anxiety.
Your best bet is finding counseling and getting with a provider that you click with, if you don't click, it won't help. If you have any close friends you can open up to, that also helps. If you have any hobbies that can distract you when you are in distress, that is also good. I personally use videogames, pets and I have remodeled half of my house to avoid or distract myself from the mental issues. If you need somebody to listen, let me know. (This is for anybody reading this of course)
Sending love to all my panic disorder people out there.
The best and simplest advice I've ever had from a psychiatrist is to train to recognize what it feels like JUST BEFORE it starts to become a problem. And at that point, no matter what you're doing, stop everything and take care of your health.
I was only able to get through college thanks to medical leave to be able to exit any situation at any time and just go outside - and it was a huge help.
It lets you notice patterns of triggers you may not have even known you had, and let you start gently desensitizing them on your own time.
mine are 100% random unrelated to anything so it's very distressing to just get dropped on the floor some chest pains that feel like a lightning bolt hitting you when you're just living life. Especially if you are doing something serious like driving or playing FF14 in a raid. :3
Damn that's rough - must be that anything can set it off once you hit a certain background stress level.
(Off topic: What's your favorite raid or trial in xiv?)
Well so far it's unknown what sets it off because I've been under SUPER stressful times and had no issues with pain and then like I'm just sitting here one moment and then on the floor in pain.
(I don't play favorites in FF14, they are all my babies, but my favorite classes are usually tanks/healers)
Thanks for replying, and yes you're so right. It's important to get help as much as one is able to. Panic attacks are nothing to mess around with.
Thankfully it's been over six months since the last time I had a bad one like that. I have learned my limits and to set boundaries, because they did come from stress and not prioritizing my physical and mental needs enough. I've been through therapy over the years too, and that was a big part in helping me learn that.
I'm glad you've figured out some good strategies that help you too, and I hope you continue to get better <3

Oh, I know what works a -little- for me. I can't fix what I have right now because I'm not super rich. But I'm working on that problem too! :3 If you need to talk, I'm here.
I don't get panic attacks, where it feels like the end of the world, but I do get occasional anxiety attacks that trigger hyperventilating. I was diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder by a psychiatrist a couple years ago. My husband brings me back down to earth though and walks me through breathing, so that helps a lot!
