Let's keep it civil and respectful. Thank you.
None of what you have posted about the British monarchy and its legacy is untrue, and we are not trying to say it's not valid. But the question at hand is how to balance the discussion. For those who grew up with more positive feelings and are dealing with an emotional blow at the news, this is a rough time and seeing something flippant or negative isn't going to change their mind.
We aren't trying to cover over or police the situation, but we are trying to help user experience. A separate post about the damage done by British colonialism and what responsibility Queen Elizabeth II had for it would not be removed, for instance, and if someone came into that thread berating those users for grave dancing we'd be holding them accountable to the same community guidance. We don't want forum wars, it's why the Debate forums were removed; it seldom changed anyone's minds and more often bred more anger or animosity than it resolved.
We will be removing posts critical of Queen Elizabeth II and the monarchy in this thread, but do welcome you to start your own discussing the flip side with the understanding that it is still subject to community guidelines towards the idea of fellow Subetans. The same is true for this one, and people who demean others in this thread for not grieving or feeling sorry will be expected to be respectful to the whole situation as well.
