It's a busy day for news as we work on the site!
We're going to be upgrading our login and authorization infrastructure, likely going to an external service; more expensive, but is also going to be able to provide extra support and troubleshooting. The really important part of this is that eventually (not just yet, but soon) everyone will be required to reset their password. That will mean having an email that is up-to-date and can get messages from Subeta, and that you still have access to. If you have an old or secondary email on file with us, it might be time to make sure you can still get into it or change it in your Preferences to something you check more often.
We'll update through the front page when it's time to refresh passwords. Thank you!

We know, most people do. ^_~ It's one of the reasons Keith has held off on initiating it for all users, but it can't wait forever.
For the current bug, we're not entirely sure of the root cause. We haven't made any changes to the authorization system recently (authorization being that set-up that handles among other things when cookies expire, for instance, to make people re-enter their password as anti-bot and anti-account-theft measures) that would explain the sudden onset of it. It's also confined to chromium browsers from the reports we've gotten and only for some users. So there may be some other system issue that's triggering it.
But the coding for the current auth system is ten years old with some security concerns in the wild, so we need to make the change soon anyway. Keith is going to keep working on the log-out issues in the meantime.

@blackwolf_2009 Changing your email at that link to a newer one that you can access should work, you won't need to log into the old address!
EDIT: Heh, jinx with Laurey. Yes, you can always change it back later.

Hmm. Try getting to it manually; under personal, go to Dashboard and then click on Profile along the top?

Try Ctrl + F5!
If that's what you want to use, go for it!

Please file the ticket! It's likely a simple matter and we know things like forgetting an old account happen, we'd just like to have the info in the ticket system to be able to close it out fully.
